In elven culture whether you were royalty or not, there was no question that you were the one to raise your children. To abandon or be neglectful to an elfling was considered one of the most shameful and revolting things an elf could do. Elflings are precious gifts from the Valar and quite rare since Elves are immortal. So it wasn't often one was blessed by the Valar with children. But if you are, you receive one of the purest beings to walk Middle Earth as well as very sensitive. Their sensitivity left them very susceptible to hate, neglect, or anything emotionally or physically harmful, so taking care of your elfling was of utmost importance.

However this was so far no problem for Thranduil and Lorrain, who even with all their royal duties, required very little assistance with their precious little Legolas. Though after two tiring weeks had passed both parents were very exhausted. Legolas was a very good baby but he naturally required a lot of attention and the late night feedings and changes were a strain on the royal parents. But neither Lorraine or Thranduil would give away their blessed bundle of joy for anything. He was their sun, moon, and stars and he made their immortal lives have true meaning and purpose.

At the moment Lorraine was in Legolas's nursery giving him his mid-afternoon feeding and sitting in the rocking chair. As she did so she lovingly looked at her child, happy to have the little leaf close to her.

"What would your Ada and I do without you ion-nin?" Lorraine asked herself as she finished up feeding her son.

Soon Legolas unlatched from Lorraine's breast and started to fall asleep, but Lorraine quickly burped him before not wanting him to get a stomachache. Then after a few minutes of Legolas being asleep Thranduil walked into the nursery.

"How are my son and wife-"

Lorraine quickly shooshed her husband so he wouldn't wake up Legolas, making Thranduil stop dead in his tracks.

"...doing today?" Thranduil finished quietly.

"Well now that you're quite we're fine, thank you."

Thranduil and Lorraine then shared a kiss, happy to see one another.

"Could you please hold him, Melethron? I've held him for so long and my arms are getting a little sore." Lorraine asked, quite exhausted from constant caring for Legolas

Thranduil's eyes lit up like stars as he gladly took his tiny son in his arms. As soon as he was in his ada's arms the babe immediately snuggled into them drawn to his ada's warm comforting chest.

"Nothing has been as big of a blessing from the Valar such as you ion-nin." Thranduil whispered into his son's ear and kissed him gently on the head.

The rest of the evening went as usual, they had dinner together, spent time as a family, and Lorraine and Thranduil eventually put their little prince to bed together. All was peaceful and as it was supposed to be, or so they thought.

It was quiet in the palace and nearly everyone who lived there was asleep except the soldiers who had the night guard. All thought they were safe and sound but unbeknownst to them there was a threat just outside Legolas's window.

It was midnight and all seemed calm but very silently as a small pack of Orcs attempted to sneak into Legolas's nursery through the back window. The pack had been sent by their hoard to kidnap the infant prince so they could take him back to their camp. They were planning to use the prince for ransom hoping to get a large sum of treasure from the king and queen of Mirkwood. So far they had managed to knock out a small group of soldiers that guarded the eastern border, sneak undetected through the kingdom, and climb up to the elfling prince's window.

Sneakily they got up the wall going up to the balcony and carefully used an arrow to undo the latch on the other side of the window. After much effort they opened the locked window and went over to the crib. They observed the sleeping babe for a moment all having malicious thoughts towards him.

"Are you sure we can't eat even just a little of him, he just looks so plump and fresh." One orc said drooling over the class tiny chubby baby.

"No! We must bring him back to camp or we won't get any payoff from this. Besides elflings this young are all fat and not enough meat to enjoy." Another Orc yelled quietly at the former.

"Will you two shut up! We have a kidnapping to complete!" Another Orc barked at the two wanting to get back to business.

Both fell silent and one of the Orcs carefully picked up the sleeping baby from the crib. Legolas stirred a bit but after sprinkling some sleeping powder on him calmed Legolas down quickly. One of the orcs then put the baby in a sling on his back and the pack made off, one of them leaving a note pinned to the wall with a poisonous orc arrow.

After a few hours had passed Thranduil stirred in his bed he felt something wasn't right, it was far too quiet. He got up from his bed disturbing his wife's sleep.

"My love what are you doing up at this hour?"

"It's far too quiet. I'm going to quickly check on Legolas." Thranduil declared his ada instinct going off majorly.

Then Lorraine could feel it sensing herself it was far too quiet. Usually Legolas would be crying for his late night meal.

"I'll join you." Lorraine declared as she got out of the bed throwing her robe on.

With that both Thranduil and Lorraine went to check on their son. They got to his nursery and the guards immediately opened the doors seeing their queen and king were filled with concern. However as the couple walked in they were unprepared to find the crib was completely empty and the back window wide open. Lorraine screamed and Thranduil yelled anger and hatred boiling over for the one who stole his son.

One of the guards who came rushing in then saw a letter arrowed to a wall. He ran over to the distressed king and handed it to him, Thranduil's heart froze as he read the letter.

Dear King Thranduil

We have your son and if you wish to ever see him alive and unharmed. Then you will meet us at noon tomorrow at the great bridge that connects your land to Coresian.

The Western Orocay

Once he was finished Thranduil crushed the letter in his fist and rushed to the door. He loved his son more than anything, but he was not about to make Legolas some bounty prize to be stolen and bargained for.

"What are you doing!" Lorraine asked in distress as she grabbed her husband's shoulder.

"I'm going to save our son."

"Not without me you aren't!"

"No Lorraine I am going alone!"

"Thranduil Legolas is my son too and we will have a better chance at saving him together "

"No you need to stay here and help keep the kingdom in order, I can't risk losing you too. Please just stay here while I go get our son." Thranduil tried to convince his wife but she would not have it.

"I know you want me to be safe but I am your companion not only as your queen. I will join you in battle and we can claim our pen tithen back together!"

"But Lorra…"

"No Thranduil, I am joining you whether you like it or not!"

Lorraine looked most seriously at her husband making it clear there was no changing her mind."

"Huh, Ok then let us bring our son back home."

Lorraine nodded her head and went with Thranduil to get their armor on. After they did so Thranduil organized a battalion of 20 soldiers and Lorraine organized a plan. They were to sneak into the camp, they also had to track down, as to not alarm the enemy. When signaled the archers were to shoot down as many orcs as possible. Then once they were clear the rest of the army would go hand to hand and slaughter the remaining monsters.

Once all was clear and ready the battalion quickly rode off and tracked the kidnappers footprints to a camp about five miles from the palace. It was morning and the army was repairing, making, and sharpening weapons.

With his signal Thranduil had the archers shoot their arrows high. As the arrows rained upon the frantic camp the archers had managed to take out the whole front of the army making it so they could charge. They sliced and cut through the army slaughtering every last orc in sight until they got to a tent. Thranduil snuck into the tent but what his eyes witnessed made him see blood red.

In the back of the tent was a door that led outside where they could see the Orc generals had poor little Legolas hanging in a sack and were using him as target practice. The traumatized little elfling wailed helplessly for his Nana or Ada to save him.

"Come on little grub stop swinging and squirming around your making it far too hard to shoot you.!" One of them laughed as they readied another arrow to fire.

With that Thranduil rushed at the generals quickly taking each one down with his protective fatherly rage. The Orcs then soon all laid dead leaving only one loose end. Thranduil calmed down and quickly went to untie his son from the tree. As he did so, Thranduil, much to his relief, at last held Legolas tightly and protectively in his arms. Legolas almost immediately calmed down as he snuggled fearfully into his father's comforting arms, still shivering like a leaf in the wind.

"Shhshhhsshhh it's alright ion-nin, no need to fear pen-tithen, ada is here ada is here." Thranduil said as he proceeded to sooth his infant son.

Thranduil then took his son to the other side of the tent and watched as the rest of the orc army was massacred, most taken down with the power of his wife's intense motherly rage. He had made sure to cover his son's little eyes, not wanting him to see his mother in this light.

After a few minutes there wasn't not a single orc alive and Lorraine at last calmed down and saw her husband and son cradled within his grasp. She sprinted over to her husband and son quickly taking him into her arms tears streaming down her face. Thranduil then had his arms around his wife and looked lovingly at his son. The family was at last back together happy to have each other once again within their safe and comforting grasps.
