Three months later

It was a beautiful spring day, wonderful time for an elven king to at last vacation with his beloved family. And that was exactly what Thranduil was doing as he traveled on horseback with his precious ones to their spring palace for a small holiday. Lately Thranduil had been overworked with royal duties and obligations and Lorraine felt it was time for a light rest. The palace was located about twenty miles from the rich merchant city of Dale and quite the beautiful sight. It was close surrounded by beautiful rivers and greenery they didn't have in Mirkwood, a perfect place for the elven royals to find peace and tranquillity.

"Melethril are you sure it's safe for him to travel!" Thranduil called out once again overly concerned Legolas's safety as usual.

"The healer said it would be perfectly fine to travel with Legolas. If you don't remember the healers even said Legolas was the picture of health and strength for elfling babies." Lorraine stayed as she tried to calm her overprotective husband, but knew it was impossible at this point.

They had ridden miles and her husband still insisted their sweet young one shouldn't be out in the open.

"I know but I just want to make sure our son is safe and not at risk. You and I both know these are dangerous times to be traveling about especially after the incident." Thranduil said, reminding his wife of the scariest moment of their lives.

"Melethron that was three months ago and he is perfectly safe. Not only is he securely strapped to my back but we have also brought extra guards to ensure no security breaches are possible." Lorraine said as she gestured to the bundle in the sling on her back.

"Huh if you say so melethril." Thranduil said at last succumbing to his wife's assuring .

"Besides we're here." Lorraine declared as she gestured to the grand white palace in the near vicinity.

Oh how beautiful was that grand white palace all covered in ivy and flowers, intricately designed spires, and beautiful art all about it in all forms. It was a palace that simply took one's breath away leaving you in pure awe. Once arriving at the spring palace the queen and king claimed the master bedroom and placed Legolas in the newly added nursery for his late morning nap.

Once the sweet little elfling was asleep Thranduil and Lorraine took the opportunity to simply enjoy themselves and each other. Not that Legolas took away from their enjoyment but then little infant could often make it hard to have intimacy and privacy.

"I don't remember the last time we did something like this." Thranduil said as he began to wrap his arms around Lorraine.

At the moment the two lounged on an outside bench in the beautiful spring palace garden surrounded by nature.

"I know, with all that happened as of late it's been rather impossible to be alone together." Lorraine said as she naturally embraced her husband.

"With the dwarves demanding we the elves pay homage to them and the orc epidemic I've been tirelessly working. But now I'm finally, at least for now, found time to be with those I love most." Thranduil said as he then kissed his wife.

Both the king and queen then started to display affection to one another intimately holding one another, kissing, and simply enjoying the peace and quiet of nature around them. However even their sweet romantic moment was soon broken by the cries of a small elfling waking up from his nap. The queen sighed and prepared to get up to go comfort the crying elfling when something stopped her.

"Let me melethril, I believe I haven't given our little leaf much attention as of late." Thranduil chuckled as he then got up and headed towards the nursery.

As Thranduil entered the nursery he couldn't believe how much louder his son's cries had become. Nevertheless he approached the crib and gently picked up his crying son and began to soothe him.

"Shshshhhhhshhhhh it's alright ion-nin ada is right here, ada is here." Thranduil said as he bounced and rubbed his sons back soothingly.

As Legolas started to calm down he realized who was holding him, for it was none other than his beloved ada. Legolas giggled in delight at the fact his ada, who hadn't been giving him as much attention lately, was holding and loving him so dearly. It was then Thranduil couldn't help but tickle the adorable babe in his arms. Legolas then went from giggling to full out laughing and squirming, enjoying every minute of his ada's undivided attention.

"You know little green leaf, you hold your ada's heart in your tiny little hands." Thranduil said as he cradled his young son in his strong arms and tickled his little chin.

Legolas merely giggled then grabbed and played with his ada's long blonde hair as if to say he knew all too well he had his ada wrapped around his tiny little finger.

"I love you very much Legolas, I hope you always remember that." Thranduil said as he cuddled his infant son close to his chest.

How Thranduil truly loved his son and wished he could keep him small and safe for the rest of his immortal life. He feared the day his son would grow up and have to fight in the wars to come upon middle earth. The possibility of losing his son was the greatest fear Thranduil had and it weighed greatly upon him, especially with the prophecies of the coming days. However for now he was comforted with the fact his son was merely an elfling, no more than an infant, ages away from his coming of age. As he contemplated Legolas began to squirm and fuss desiring to be released from his ada's rather suffocating grip.

"Oh I'm sorry ion-nin ada holds onto too tightly sometimes. A fact I'm afraid you'll have to live with your whole immortal life my little green leaf." Thranduil said as he stroked his sons soft, silky, long, and equally blond tresses.

Legolas once again giggled and hugged his adas neck as tightly as his tiny arms possibly could.

"Oh my sweet pen tithen what would I do without you? But now I believe your nana would like to see you as well. Why don't we go together, huh!" Thranduil said as he held his son upright and carried him to his wife.

Lorraine could practically hear all that went on and it made her so happy to hear father and son playing together. It was then Thranduil came back with Legolas in his arms and sat down next to the queen. Lorraine immediately stole Legolas and showed plenty of motherly affection towards her pen tithen causing Legolas to smile as he felt the love of his mother as well.

After a whole afternoon of the family playing together it came time for dinner which was always interesting. Feeding Legolas was always an adventure at least for Thranduil whenever he attempted to feed the hungry babe.

As the family walked into the dining hall their staff got out a high chair for Legolas to sit in. Once he was securely in the high chair Thranduil and Lorraine sat down and were served their dinner. However Lorraine decided to feed Legolas first since for her it was a mostly simple task and her motherly instincts always told her to feed her child first. As they continued with their meal for some time, Thranduil saw Lorraine's untouched plate of food and knew he had to do something he would dread.

"Lorraine you haven't eaten for so long, how about you start eating while I finish…...feeding Legolas." Thranduil offered nervously.

"Are you sureThranduil? You know how this usually goes." Lorraine said with almost a hint of warning.

"I'm sure Melethril. But please eat before your meal gets too cold, I would like you to enjoy it."

"How chivalrous of you Melethron." Lorraine said feeling very touched by her husband's actions and turned from Legolas leaving him rather confused.

Thranduil then turned over to Legolas and turned his highchair towards him.

"Alright Legolas let's try and keep this clean." Thranduil said, trying to be firm.

However the baby being spoken of just giggled at his father's request. Thranduil knew immediately he would much rather be changing Legolas's diapers than doing this. After about an hour Thranduil fed Legolas but was covered in food from head to toe not to mention food was all over Legolas as well. Lorraine couldn't help but laugh even though she knew all this would happen because it happened every time. But then Lorraine got up and walked over to Legolas and picked him up.

"All right me messy pen tithen how about we give you a bath?" Lorraine chuckled as she then scooped up her messy son.

"I think he is not the only one in need of washing" Thranduil interjected as he motioned to himself.

Lorraine nodded and went to give Legolas a much needed bath while Thranduil did the same thing as well. After all were bathed and clean they all decided due to their very long day they should retire early. So they put Legolas to bed and afterwards both Thranduil and Lorraine did the same leaving all the royal family to dream sweet peaceful dreams.
