Chapter 15

Tuesday Night

Mackenzie's POV

Holy hell my head is killing me, along with my back and my stomach and, well let's just say I'm in a great amount of physical pain.

I tried to tuck away the hair that I felt on my face but couldn't move my arms. Finally opening my eyes to find darkness, I looked up and saw that my arms were tied above my head, and I was dangling off the ground.

Now, for those of you that have never experienced this fun thing of life, it strains your shoulders to the point where you can barely put your arms down once you're free. I was not getting free anytime soon if the gang didn't hurry their butts up.

I looked around and saw a girl staring at me from a dark corner. Shit.

"Hey, come here real quick." I whispered.

She looked around, trying to see if there was any danger. When she couldn't find any she ran over to my side.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Monique, but my friends call me Nudge." She answered. I smiled at her and nodded my aching head.

"I'm Mackenzie, my friends call me Red. Do you think you could do something for me?" I asked, not wanting to waste any time. She nodded twice.

"There's a pocket knife in my, um, pocket. Grab it then hand it to me." She took out the knife after fishing for it for a couple of seconds.

"I can't reach your hands." She informed me. I smiled.

"That's when we have a little fun. How high can you jump?"

Third Person

"It stopped!" Maria jumped up and waved her phone in the air.

"Finally! I was wondering if that thing would ever stop dragging her." Olivia got up and walked to her friend, offering her some M&M's from the big bag.

"I wish I could drag her." Ed whispered to Harry.

The girls shook their heads and went to their men. "We good to get her?" Sam asked, looking towards Maria.

She nodded her head and started towards the direction of her kidnapped friend, linking her arm with Olivia's as they ate the chocolaty goodness. They may have Dean and Sam there, but that did not mean they wouldn't still show each other love.

"So how do you think this is going to go down?" Maria asked her friend.

"I think it will go down as usual, with Red getting hurt trying to protect someone. She can't calm her tits enough not to." Olivia answered.

Sam linked arms with Olivia and joined the conversation.

"I know how you two feel." He started, while Olivia tried not to scream with excitement. "Dean is always taking the hits for me, always has been. We can't get mad at them for it; they just don't want us to get hurt."

Dean could hear this and smiled to himself.

"But she doesn't have to, we can handle ourselves." Maria argued.

Dean linked arms with her and kept looking forward. "She doesn't want you to have to handle yourselves."

Ed and Harry looked from the group then to each other, and then nodded. They quickened their pace until they wedged Maria and Dean, and Sam and Olivia apart.

"Make room for Jesus!" They yelled.

Maria hit Ed's head while Olivia hit Harry's. Sam and Dean threatened to shoot them. An argument broke out until the group heard screaming.

"Help! Somebody help me, please!"

"Mackenzie!" Harry yelled and started running, pointing his camera in front of him.

"No! Stop!" Maria called.

"It's the Wendigo, dumbass!" Olivia yelled after him.

"Damn it!" Dean exclaimed and started running after him.

"You three stay here, draw the sigils. We'll be right back." Sam said and ran after them.

"The hell we stay here." Olivia said after he left.

"Where else would we go?" Ed asked.

"We're going after Red. Drop the M&M's so they know what direction to head in." Maria said.

"That's such a waste! Red would be very disappointed in us!" Olivia grumbled.

"She can't be disappointed in us if she can't find us!" Maria argued.

"Why are we going to Red if we don't have weapons against it, and I don't want you girls getting hurt." Ed said, pulling up his pants trying to act manlier. This just made the girls laugh.

"Of course we have a weapon." Maria said in a 'duh' tone.

"I pick pocketed Sam while we were linked together." Olivia said and waved the flare gun in the air, like she just didn't care. Because she didn't.

"Which, by the way, you so rudely interrupted." Maria pointed her finger at him as they started walking, Olivia dropped M&M's every five feet or so.

"But what if-" Ed started worriedly.

"Ed! Shut up and keep walking, unless you want to wait here all by yourself then by all means, keep talking to thin air." Maria gave him his options as she looked at her tracker, not paying attention to what he would do.

Olivia snorted and fist bumped Maria as they continued walking through the forest. Ed stood there for a second and looked around, weighing his options. Finally he sighed and walked along with them, grumbling about respect and lack-there-of-it.

Dean caught up to him and grabbed his shoulder, forcing him to stop.

"Are you trying to get us killed?" Dean yelled angrily. Harry tried to push his hand off, but Dean was too strong.

"No! Didn't you hear her screaming?" He said defensively.

"It wasn't her, Harry." Sam said as he caught up to them. "Wendigos can mimic voices."

He looked down for a few seconds thinking about this new information. Finally he looked up and said "I knew that."

The brothers looked at each other and shook their heads. "Let's head back before it shows up. Although I wouldn't mind his face getting ripped off." Dean said, pointing at Harry as he walked back in the direction of the girls. Sam smirked quickly then followed his brother.

"How many times are we going to run into these ass-hats?" Dean asked Sam, glancing sideways at him.

"Depends. How many times are their butts gonna need saving?" Sam inquired, casting the same glance at his brother. Dean smirked and turned to tell Harry to hurry up, only to find that he wasn't there.

He stopped then moved his hands in a 'what-the-hell' gesture. "Awesome. Did that idiot get kidnapped?"

Mackenzie's POV

"Did that idiot get kidnapped?" I asked, watching as the Wendigo dragged Harry into what I discovered to be an abandoned mineshaft. I sighed and combed my hair back with my aching arms.

"Do you know him?" Nudge asked. I closed my eyes and nodded sadly.

"Unfortunately." I said.

"Is he supposed to come to the rescue? Because, he's not doing a very good job at it." She shook her head disapprovingly as I joined her with a sigh.

"He thought he was coming to the rescue. Did I mention he was an idiot?" I looked over at her; she was sitting cross legged and staring at Harry's unconscious body.

"Obviously you haven't mentioned it enough. Like okay, you got kidnapped so your friends could find us but he got kidnapped because of his scrawny twig arms. Why is he even part of your group? I thought you said the guys you were with are tough and capable. Those are so not the arms of a capable man." She ranted. It was one of the shortest rants she's said so far.

"I don't really consider him a man per say, but more of a man-baby. Actually, sometimes a baby is more capable than him." I looked back at Harry to find that the Wendigo had left to hunt my friends again.

I grabbed a descent sized rock and gently, chucked it at Harry. Well, less gently and more chucked.

He sat up abruptly and looked around the darkness all panicky. When he spotted my figure he squinted to see better, seeing as though I had tucked Nudge and I behind fallen boards. Realization crossed his face as he jumped up and ran over to me.

"I found you!" He said excitedly. I crossed my arms and casted a sideways glance at Nudge trying to say 'see what I have to deal with' with a single look; It worked. She shook her head in an apology. Turning back to Harry, I raised an eyebrow.

"You found me? Harry, I just woke you up with a rock to the stomach, after watching you being dragged in here by a Wendigo. Quite frankly, the winner of this game of 'hide and kidnap' goes to the monster."

He looked a bit disappointed but looked over my shoulder when he heard Nudge giggle. He pointed at her and turned to look at me again.

"Is that the girl who went missing?" He wondered.

"No, I'm the girl who rode a unicorn to play with my fairy friends in a magical cave." She answered for me. I had to admit, I liked this girl.

"Could that actually happen?" Harry asked, getting visibly excited. I could hear Nudge do a facepalm behind me, and I was surprised I didn't do one myself.

"The fairy thing, yes. But I have yet to run into a unicorn giving children free rides." I answered honestly.

"Whatever, can we just get out of here?" Harry pleaded.

"Not until we find my parents!" Nudge said, springing up at the thought of leaving. I nodded at her in approval.

"Now that you're here, I can leave you with her so I can go look for them. She already has the tracker with her and knows what to do in case it comes back. All you have to do is keep her in the circle and not get her killed." I said, starting to walk away.

"What makes you think that I would get her killed?" Harry stood up for himself.

I turned around to face him but kept walking. "Because she's smarter than you." I shrugged, then turned around and ran out.

I could just barely register Harry saying "I just got punched right in the feels." Before I was in a completely different part of the cave.

It was seriously dark and ominous, I found myself wishing I had brought a flashlight.

Wait! I still had my belt-loop flashlight! Man, that thing is useful.

I grabbed the flashlight from my pants and held it in my left hand, while searching for the flare gun with my right. But I couldn't find it, and that meant I was in a lot more trouble than I thought I was. It must have slipped out of my pants when I was being dragged around like a chew toy.

I went through various different tunnels, trying to locate Nudge's parents. After about five minutes I found myself back where I had started, still empty handed. On the verge of screaming out of frustration, someone started coughing somewhere behind a cave-in of rocks.

I Turned and peered through the boulders blocking my way to find people, and body, strung up just like I had been. I shone my flashlight through the opening and called in.

"Hang on! I'm gonna get you out."

"Get my daughter! Where's my daughter." A male voice called back.

"Is your daughter Nudge?" I peeped back to look for the owner of the voice, but couldn't see anything.

"Yes! Is she okay? Is she with you?" A female voice answered. I stood up and started throwing rocks away from the entrance.

"Don't worry, she's safe. She's more worried about you than anything else." I informed them.

I wasn't surprised when the conversation ended there; they needed to conserve their energy. After all, they had been here for about two days. I continued to dig silently, grunting occasionally when I had to roll a baby boulder out of the way.

After several minutes and about four crushed fingers later, I had a decent sized opening that I could squeeze into. It was a tight fit, but I managed it.

By 'managed' I mean I slipped through it an ungracefully landed on my face.

I jumped up and spit the dirt out of my mouth. I would worry about the little pebbles wedged in my hands some other time.

Shining the flashlight around, I could make out Nudge's parents looking at me in concern. I took out my pocket knife and cut the both of them down, setting them gently on the ground before going to inspect the other bodies.

Unfortunately, there were no other survivors. Although I could have told you that just by the smell of this place.

After muttering a few choice words, I turned my attention back to the living. They were hugging each other tiredly, and other than dehydration and soar arms, I thought they were doing pretty well.

Once I saw the size of Nudge's mom's stomach, however, I knew I had to get her out of there fast. Which meant clearing away more rocks, whoopee.

I turned towards the entrance again to start crushing more of my fingers, but stopped dead in my tracks when glowing eyes reflected from the light.

The Wendigo was looking at me through the path I had made, but luckily wasn't big enough to fit through. Adrenaline started to pump through my system, and I mentally went through any scenario I could think of.

I didn't get to think very long before it started prying the rocks away from the entrance, and only exit. It was faster than I had been, seeing as though it had inhuman strength working on its side.

"Get back!" I yelled at the couple, helping the father limp the mother to the far edge of the cave. Once they were as safe as they could possibly be, I raised my flash light to the hole that was increasing in size faster than I would have appreciated.

"Red? Is that you?" I heard a familiar voice call out.

"Ed?" I called, looking around frantically. I felt dirt and small pebbles hit the top of my head and I looked up, squinting as not to get anything in my eyes. "What are you doing up there?" I asked, momentarily forgetting the Wendigo.

"What are you doing down there?" He mimicked. I held in the urge to shoot him, it was easy since I didn't have my freaking gun.

"Never mind that, is there an opening you can get to, to get us out of here? Where the hell are the girls?"

"They're following the direction of your tracker. Why aren't you with your tracker?" He just couldn't have a one track mind, could he?

"It's with the girl, I'm with her parents. Is there an opening to get us out of here?" I yelled, getting pissed.

There was the sound of urgent footsteps, followed by more dirt being snowed onto me. There was a conversation going on above me, but I couldn't quite decipher the new voices.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Talking with Red, where's Harry?"

"He got kidnapped."

"Kidnapped?!"

"Guys I don't have a lot of time down here!" I yelled, raising my flashlight light at the Wendigo.

Soon Ed was shoved out of the way and replaced by Dean. "What do you need?" He asked, glancing at my frantic face then at the sound of moving boulders.

"Find a hole. Get them out." I flicked my head at Nudge's parents and he seemed to get the idea, and disappeared from my view.

A couple of seconds later the ground was moving near where the said couple was trying not to hyperventilate. Light from the moon came pouring into the cave and soon I saw someone's hand reaching towards the elders. But they were too weak to do it themselves.

Glancing between the two predicaments, I attached the flashlight back to my belt loop and ran over to Nudge's mother.

"Ladies first." I said as I grabbed her and helped to haul her out of the cave and into the fresh night air, making sure to be careful of her baby bump.

The dad wasn't a piece of cake, either. But he was slightly stronger than his wife. He managed to get up by just stepping on my knee.

Once I saw that Sam had both of Nudge's parents, I turned my attention to the now open cave entrance, shit.

The thing about Wendigos is they didn't get distracted by personal intentions. All they want is food, and they didn't get sidetracked with conversations or pleasurable ways to torture the victim. The only pleasure they got was eating what they caught. They had brute force and an animal's instinct on their side since they were no longer human. Wendigos are one of my least favorite monsters to hunt for the mere fact that they have a monster's intention. They don't care how damaged their food is so long as it is still edible. And right now, I'm still edible.

I stayed dead still, not wanting to turn my back on the Wendigo in order to get out. It was walking painfully slowly towards me, and it seemed pissed that I ruined its dinner. Oopsies.

Before it could attack, I felt a pair of strong arms grab me. His arm in front of my chest and hooking under both armpits as he lifted me out of the cave and into the night.

Once Dean dragged me the further out of the way, Sam and Ed rolled a huge boulder over the opening. Shutting the Wendigo in the cave and away from us for the moment.

I sighed out in relief and looked at Dean when I felt him do it at the same time. He was breathing hard from the close call that we had just escaped from. I guess it didn't help that I had landed on top of him, oops.

I rolled to the side and stood up, holding my hand out for Dean to take. "Thanks." I said.

He took it and hauled himself up. "That was too close for comfort." He said.

"We aren't out of the woods yet." Sam said, coming up to us. "Where are the girls?"

I furrowed an eyebrow and turned to him. "They aren't with you? How did you find me?" I asked.

"They left a trail of M&M's." He answered. I shook my head.

"Great thinking, but so wasteful." I said sadly. He rolled his eyes at me, but I saw Dean nodding out of the corner of my eyes. At least someone else had their head screwed on straight.

"I think we need to get them out of here." Ed said, gesturing towards the parents. He didn't say it very quietly, wish was a mistake. I mean, they're parents and their daughter is stuck in an abandoned mine shaft with a flesh eating monster on the loose. How did he think they would react other than:

"We are not leaving until we have our daughter safe and sound and by our side. And if you so much as think that we would abandon her with that, that, thing, then you are dumber than you look, kid." The father said. I couldn't help but smirk at the last part.

"Now, now John. They're just trying to help." The mother said to her husband, but then turned to look at Ed. "But he's right, kid. If you take us away I will whoop your ass all the way to Main Street." She informed him.

I snorted and looked at Ed. "Next time, keep your mouth shut." I warned him "Trying to help doesn't always end up being praised in the long run." I added upon seeing his hurt expression.

Out of the corner of my eyes I could see Sam and Dean share a look, but I couldn't quite decipher the coded message behind it.

"It's a good thing I installed a tracker in Olivia's phone." I said, pulling out my own from my pocket; grateful it wasn't dropped as well.

"Why did you put a tracker in Olivia's phone and not Maria's?" Sam wondered.

I turned and looked at him, smiling slightly at the reason. "Because Maria always follows directions," then I smiled even more "and Olivia's the one who always gets lost."

The Girl's POV

"Fuck, I'm lost." Olivia said, peering through the darkness in search of Maria and Harry.

The group had been separated before they had even entered the damn mine shaft. Harry had refused to go in and instead drew the protective sigils on the ground.

It had kind of reminded her of that episode of SpongeBob and the Sea Bear, how a circle in the dirt would protect them. And God forbid it was an oval or else it had permission to rip you to pieces.

Some people can't even draw freaking stick figures and the creators of SpongeBob expect Squidward to draw a perfect circle?! Not cool, man.

Anyways…

When the girls entered Maria was following the tracker perfectly, like she usually did. Olivia hadn't been paying attention and had walked into a gigantic spider web, with the spider stuck in her hair.

She had managed to stifle a shriek but went veering off in a completely different direction than Maria. So now she had to blindly maneuver her way around the complicated mess of stone to try to locate either Maria or the tracker.

"Hello?" I voice called, only, to Olivia it sounded more like a scared man-baby she knew.

"Harry?" She called as she rounded a corner, coming face to face with the man-baby in question. "How the hell did you get here first?" She asked in bewilderment.

He puffed out his chest and stood up straighter. "I have amazing tracking skills." He said proudly.

There was a snort somewhere in the darkness, then a colored girl made her way into Olivia's line of sight. "He got kidnapped by the monster because of his twig arms." She revealed.

"Seems legit." Olivia said.

"Harry?" Maria asked, appearing in the cave doorways; tracker in hand. "How the heck did you get here first?"

"He got kidnapped by the monster because of his twig arms." The two black girls said in unison.

Maria's gaze fell upon her friend and her eyebrows shot to the sky. "Olivia? Last I saw you; you were running away from air."

"Excuse me. But I was running away from a very scary, very dangerous spider." She corrected. The shorter girl shook her head, but walked to the group nonetheless.

"Where's Red?" She asked, seeing no one else hidden in the shadows. Harry crossed his arms and looked down; it was the kid that answered.

"She went to find my parents. But she's been gone for a while and I don't know where she went because she left her tracker with me. And then we found a flare gun on the floor and he said that it was hers, so I'm guessing she's wandering around this creepy place with no light, and no protection. In that case, unless she's as good as he says, we have no way of finding her or my parents. I am not capable of being an orphan! My grades would go down and I wouldn't be able to get into a good college so then I won't find a good job, and end up having to live on the streets. Red said that she didn't want me to live on the streets, that it wasn't a life to live. I don't know how she knows that but she explained what it's like to live on the streets and I don't want to! But she promised she's find my parents, how can she do that without her flare gun?" She ranted worriedly.

The girls blinked and looked at each other in surprise. They've only heard one person rant like that, and she was the one being ranted about. There would be nights where Red was dead tired, but she wouldn't go to sleep. She would rant about the most random things, it was almost like her brain decided to say 'screw you' and go into hyper drive but not put on auto pilot.

"She's been going on like this ever since Mackenzie left." Harry said while rubbing his eyes tiredly.

"Wait, what about Red living on the streets?" Olivia asked.

"That's not important right now!" The rant-er yelled. "We need to find my parents."

"Right, sorry." Maria muttered, wondering the same thing herself. "The best plan would be to wait outside for the others. Sam and Dean are better shots than us, plus it's starting to get light out."

"How will that get me to mom and dad?" The girl pushed on. "If they're in here and we're out there then none of us are together!"

"Well, we can't argue with that logic." Olivia pointed out. "WWRD."

"WWRD?" Harry repeated, although he was asking what the infernal thing meant.

"If I could guess; which I will, it means "What Would Red Do" I mean come on; it's so obvious. Is your brain a twig too?" The mocha colored girl sounded terrified that Harry hadn't realized this sooner.

"I like this girl." Maria commented.

"I think we'll all like this girl." Olivia corrected, smiling at her. She squealed and stuck out her hand towards Olivia.

"OMG! I forgot to introduce myself, honestly I think I'd forget to blink if my eyes didn't remind me. I'm Monique, but everyone calls my Nudge. Red talked about you two while we were waiting for the monster. Olivia, you're weird and all Moosey but are incredibly insane. Maria, you're the damsel in distress who is small but insanely incredible. Well, she didn't say those exact words… but you get the point."

Somewhere during that she had shaken the hands of Maria and Olivia vigorously. It was amazing how she said that all in one breath.

"Yes, yes. These are all facts." Olivia said, smiling despite the confusion.

"I'm a damsel in distress?" Maria asked. Olivia face palmed and groaned at her shot friend.

"Yes Maria, you are the damsel, I am the Moose." She repeated, they've gone over these facts about a million times at Carol's.

"Yay!" Maria cheered. Harry shook his head and watched all their smiling faces in disbelief.

"We are in a cave with a monster chasing us and all you can think about is who is the damsel and who is the moose? What does being a Moose even mean?" He whispered angrily.

"First of all, we're in an abandoned mine shaft. Get it right." Maria corrected, putting on a bitch face.

"Second of all," Olivia joined "I've got long-ass Moose legs that I will not hesitate to shove so far up your ass I'll be able to tickle your nose with my toes." She crossed her arms and glared at the silenced man-baby.

"Nice rhyme." Maria said, holding out her fist as she smirked up at her tall friend.

"Thanks, I pulled it out of my ass." She whispered back, bumping fists with her shorter friend.

"Now that he is severely burned," Nudge said offhand "Can we please find my parents before the Wendigo finds us?"

As if on cue, the scraping of feet sounded behind the group. The girls quickly ushered everyone into the protective sigils and into the darkness. The group could see the outline of a mutated man in the middle of the room.

Instantly they held their breaths, not wanting to attract the monster even though they were safe because of the markings.

Maria tapped the back of Olivia's hand twice, a gesture that basically meant 'do something useful' (Red had taught them).

So Olivia grabbed the flare gun from the ground and aimed it at the figure. She could shoot fairly well, both of them could. Red had taught them how to in case of emergencies.

But she didn't like it when they had to shoot for real. Therefore, they had a tough time hitting moving targets with precision like Red's. And since there was barely any light it was even more difficult to aim.

She started to squint her eyes but Maria tapped her shoulder in a reminder to keep them both open. With a quiet exhale Olivia aimed at the chest, and pulled the trigger.

The flare went shooting through the air, but the Wendigo had moved (just seconds before Olivia had pulled shot) because of a noise sounding right behind it. So instead of shooting towards the monster, the flare was aimed at none other than Red herself, as she aimed for the monster.

"Ah!"

The ball of light hit her in the stomach with a surprising about of force, burning her slights as it found a hole in the fabric. She tumbled backwards, dropping the flare gun, as a pained grunt escaped her lips.

"Red!" Olivia and Maria yelled, jumping up. They saw her push away the still-burning blare that had gotten tangled in her clothes. Once it was on the ground next to her she took as second to regain herself; the girls could tell she was trying not to show too much pain on her face.

In a second, Dean was by her side trying to help her up. The Wendigo appeared in front of them and roared so loudly te girls had to cover their ears.

"Get down!" Sam yelled. Aiming his own flare gun at the monster.

Dean instantly covered Red with his own body, shielding his own head with his hands. The girls huddled over Nudge to protect the innocent from any harm like Red's. They felt Harry do the same to them.

A shot rang through the air, then the cave was lit up. The smell of burning flesh was almost toxic, but they all kept their eyes squeezed shut; the light was even penetrating their eyelids. The noise the monster made was even more terrifying than the roar from before, for now it was dying. And a couple of seconds later, the Wendigo was no more.

"Nudge?!" A voice called.

"Mom!" The girl cried, breaking free of the huddle of safety to run to the sound of the voice.

Harry removed himself off of the girls and looked them over to make sure they were alright. Once he saw that they were, he looked at the blob of family.

"Thanks, Harry." Maria said, following his gaze. "Isn't it a wonderful feeling?" She asked.

"I wish I could help people like you guys do." He admitted. She looked at him with disbelief.

"It's not us, it's them. And you did help people, you helped these people. Without your call, Nudge, her parents, Ed and yourself would have been killed. You saved them without even knowing it."

"Thanks, but I know it was accidental." He shrugged.

"Accidents don't just happen accidentally." Olivia piped up as she placed a hand on his shoulder. And the girls knew that comment made all the difference.

Third Person

Ed looked at the couple he had just shielded, and smiled when they were finally reunited with their daughter.

"You did a good thing today, Ed." Sam said, following his gaze. After a short, hesitant nod from the GhostFacer Sam looked at the smoking pile that used to be Wendigo. Then at his brother still huddled over Mackenzie.

"Dean!" He called, running to his side. "What happened?"

"The flare got caught in her shirt." He said. "Her stomach is burned real bad."

"I'm fine." The woozy girl defended, she had lost energy from getting kidnapped, and most of it from removing the boulders. But it had been drained when she was shot.

"Bullshit." Dean frowned.

"Red! Shit, I fucked up. I'm sorry." Olivia said, rushing to their sides.

"You didn't fuck up, you would have hit, hit it if… I hadn't interfered. Sorry." Red answered, trying to keep her eyes open.

"She's bleeding!" Maria yelled, pointing at the dark liquid seeping through her shirt. "I didn't think flares could do so much damage."

"They usually can't." Sam said. "But this one got caught in her shirt, it's just one bad burn."

"Get them out of here." Mackenzie said, nodding her head at the innocents. "The mother is pregnant."

The girls set their heads towards helping Ed and Harry get the parents out of the cave. Once they had made it out, the boys helped get Red to her feet. With one on each side, they hobbled her into the night air.

"Damn, this hurts." She grunted, feeling her stomach burn. It was an understatement, and the boys knew it.

"Am I going to have to carry you every time we go on a case?" Dean said sarcastically.

"Hey, you didn't have to carry me on the vampire case and you know it." She pointed out, feeling Sam shake his head on her left.

"Whatever."

"We dropping them off at a hospital?" Sam asked. Nodding towards Nudge's family.

"I want to make sure they're okay. Nudge has my phone number so we won't have to stick around. I'll give them about a thousand in cash then we can head out."

"Are we just gonna strap and ice-pack on you and call it 'good enough'?" Dean asked, glancing at her stomach.

"Yep, no need for me to waist the doctor's time when I'm dead in four days." She tried to shrug but inhaled when it made her shirt rub against her stomach.

"Wait, four days. Isn't that Halloween?" Sam asked, calculating the dates in his head.

"Yep."

"Wait, didn't you say you sold your soul on your Birthday?" Dean added, looking at her face.

"Yep."

"Awesome." Dean said in that way of his, looking back at where he was going.

"Totally. Why not go out with a bang, right?" She shook her head and looked down.

They were silent after that, all hunters knew that Halloween was always a busy night. They would have a lot of cases to look at. But the boys wanted to stay with Red's case. She was a valuable partner in case anything were to happen.

As they approached the field they could see the sun begin to wake up, it was Wednesday.
