Chapter 17

Wednesday

Third Person

"If you hurt either of them I will kidnap you and find every way to torture you mercilessly until I finally let you die, got it?" The red head said one last time as Dean turned the Impala into the motel parking lot.

"Got it." The brothers said in unison.

"Okay, good. I'll wake them up when I see you unlock my room. They'll be ready in about, forty minutes." She promised.

With that, the boys hopped out of Baby and started walking to the main building. Once they paid for the three rooms they went to Red's and unlocked hers, setting the key on the counter next to the water bottle she asked them to leave her.

When they arrived in their own room they set their bags down on a bed.

"Do we even have anything nice to wear?" Dean asked, rummaging through his clothes.

"Since when did you care about what to wear?" Sam asked, although he was secretly worried about the same thing.

"I, shut up." He said, picking up a note from in his bag.

Even though the girls like you as is, I got you some new suits. In all reality anything you wear will make them swoon, hell you could even go dressed as a fudging banana and they would still love you. So I got you each a banana suit too, just in case. Whatever you decide to wear, watch out for them and yourselves. Welcome to the family.

-Red

"When did she even have time for this?" Sam wondered, pulling his own clothes out of the bag.

Dean flipped the card over and smirked, showing it to his brother.

P.S. I have my ways.

"I guess that answers that question." Dean said. "So where are we planning on taking them anyways?"

"Well, they live with a hunter, but they're still girls. A Waffle House maybe?" Sam shrugged, liking the idea.

"I could go for some waffles."

Sam went into the bathroom with his new clothes and quickly got changed. He got a dark grey suit with a purple plaid shirt underneath. Then he rolled up the sleeves to a third of the way up his arm so the plaid was showing in the fold. Buttoning up the suit jacket, he opened the box of new shoes and tied them to his feet.

"How did she even get our sizes?" Sam called through the bathroom door when he realized that everything fit him perfectly.

"I don't know man, she has her ways." Dean called back from the bedroom he was changing in.

He received a black suit with a blue and teal plaid undershirt, but he left the sleeves rolled down and the jacket unbuttoned, so the shirt was fully visible with about an inch of the plaid showing from the sleeves. When he was finished tying his new shoes he stood up and looked at himself in the mirror on the back of the door.

He saw a glimmer of yellow in his bag in the mirror and moved some clothes around to see that she really had bought them each a banana suit.

So transfixed in the banana suit, was he; that he did not notice Sam come out of the bathroom.

"Dude, do not wear the banana suit."

"Why not? She said they would like us no matter what we wore." He reminded his younger brother.

"That doesn't mean we should test that theory!" Sam pointed out.

"If I want to be a banana I think I should have the choice to be a banana." Dean fought back.

"Why would you want to be a banana?" Castiel asked, appearing behind the two fighting brothers.

"I have my reasons." Dean said, tossing the banana suit back into his bag.

"Where have you been?" Sam asked. "Red got hurt like, four hours ago. Have you stopped to see her yet?"

"No."

"Why not?" Dean asked.

He didn't answer, and instead looked down. The brothers shared a look and Dean stepped forward; a stern look crossing his face.

"Cas, what aren't you telling us." It was a demand.

"I can't raise her from perdition like I did with you, Dean." The angel said.

"And why not?" Sam stepped closer too.

"Because it's her destiny to go to Hell." He looked up at the brothers.

"What?" They asked.

"Look, I can't explain. But her entire life has been changed and redirected so she would end up exactly where she is now. Only I wasn't supposed to…" He looked away.

"Screw her over?" Dean supplied, becoming angry.

"Fall for her." The angel snapped, glaring at his friend.

"That still doesn't answer why you haven't dropped in to check on her yet." Sam said.

"Because she's in the middle of being, redirected." Castiel informed them.

The brothers automatically tensed. "Are Maria and Olivia there?" Sam asked.

"Are they safe?" Dean stepped forward again.

"Is she in pain?"

"The girls know nothing of what's happened to her, they're in the bathroom getting ready for something. As for the last question... Yes. But only for a minute, then she won't remember it."

"What do you mean she won't remember it?" Sam pushed.

"Cas what are you doing to her?"

"It's not me! It's not my choosing, but it has to be done. It can't be explained to you but, it has to happen."

"Are you wiping her memory?" Sam questioned.

"It's done, I have to go." With that, the Angel disappeared.

The brothers looked at each other then back to the spot Castiel had been standing.

"So what do we do? Should we tell them." Sam looked to his older brother for answers.

"I trust Cas, he wouldn't do anything if it wasn't for a good reason." Dean said, trying to convince himself more than anything.

"So we wait it out?" Sam made sure he was right, and got his answer when Dean nodded.

"Okay, but if it goes too far-"

"Then we'll tell them. But we need more information. Plus she wouldn't want us worrying about her when we're out with the girls, right?" Dean said.

Sam nodded and looked down in thought.

"Then let's focus on having an awesome night with the girls, we'll worry about Red later." Dean said, looking at his watch. "It's about time, shall we?"

Sam looked up again and nodded, grabbing the room keys and heading out the door after Dean. They stopped outside of Red's room, arriving in time to hear a faint "Plus you get to stab things." Coming from the other side and knocked on the door quickly in case they were talking about them.

"You guys are lucky I love you." Red's muffled voice was heard through the door before it was opened.

"Hello boys." She said, and stepped aside so they could see their dates.

They froze in the doorway, gazing at the girls.

Dean looked at the short girl with love and protection evident in his eyes. He knew that even if he didn't have to, he would protect Maria from any and all harm. She was like a Goddess to him, only less douche-y and more perfect.

Sam stared at Olivia, who was now at eye level with him thanks to her wedges. He looked like a lost puppy that only needed her presence to live. He felt the same urgency to protect his 'Moosett' as Dean did for his Princess.

At the same time both Maria, and Olivia's ovaries exploded the second they saw the boys. The plaid shirts where their favorite colors and they looked hot as hell.

Red broke the moment up by snapping her fingers in their faces. "Are you people done drooling over each other or am I gonna have to get a mop?" She questioned. "Cause I've got a case to solve."

They all blinked out of their trances and looked at the impatient red head.

"Yeah we're good to go."

"Good." She said then grabbed her room key, shoving it in her bag that was still lying on her bed.

"How are you going to get around without a car?" Maria asked the red head.

"Dear, there's this thing called walking. It's a city, and if I need to I'll rent a car." She said, slinging the bag over her shoulder. She paused and looked out the open door. The boys could see the smallest shiver of fear make its way through the red head, but the girls didn't.

Sam and Dean looked at each other, but Dean shook his head. Once she had regained her composure, Red looked at the brothers.

"Can I talk to you for a quick second?" She asked, giving them a look of we need to talk.

Their dates started to protest but Mackenzie just held up her hand. "Relax, I already gave them the talk, it's something quick." She walked out the door and turned the corner, waiting for them to shut the door and face her.

"What's up?" Sam asked, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

"Crowley let Juliet out early." She said.

"Who?" Dean asked.

She scoffed and looked at him impatiently. "Juliet, his Hell Hound."

"You're on a name to name basis with his Hell Hound?" Dean said unbelievingly.

"And you're not? It doesn't matter," She shook away the pointless conversation. "Just keep a lookout, I'm pretty sure she'll only follow me but, just in case. Be careful." She started getting antsy.

"Now get going, and I put some of their favorite things on a card in your suit. For instance, you're wearing their favorite colors. And I put their favorite flowers in the trunk of your car."

"How did yo-"

"I have my ways." She said, cutting Sam off. "Now get going, and out of curiosity; where are you taking them first?"

"A waffle house." Dean said, smiling.

She nodded in approval and smirked. "You guys are the perfect match." She muttered. "Now go."

The two brothers hesitantly turned away from the red head, then excitedly opened the door and hooked arms with their dates.

Red closed and locked the door when they left and started walking behind them. Once they reached the parking lot the red head nodded at the boys and smiled at the girls, winking. "Have fun, but not too much."

She turned to walk away but paused and looked back. "On second thought, have as much fun as you want."

Maria looked down with a smirk and Olivia flipped her off without the boys noticing. The red head smirked and blew her a kiss. "Love you, too. I don't want you back until at least eleven!"

Once she was started towards the city, the boys turned towards their dates. But before anything could be said, Dean grabbed Maria and opened the back driver side door and helped her in. Sam did the same for Olivia on the passenger side.

Once both girls were in the boys smiled at each other, while the girls tried not to shriek in delight. The boys hopped in their usual seats and looked back at the girls.

"So, we were thinking of going to a waffle house for brunch, then decide what to do while we're there." Dean informed them.

"Sounds like a plan." Maria said.

"I could go for waffles." Olivia's statement overlapped Maria's.

The boys smiled and turned around, Dean started the car. As they headed down the road they saw Mackenzie walking. She was glancing around at nothing, but stopped when she saw the car, waving.

The boys honked and continued down the road.

"Did Castiel visit you guys?" Maria wondered.

"No, did he visit you guys?" Dean said, not looking at Sam, who had turned to face him.

The girls shared a look, then paused when they realized they had no idea what it meant. It seemed like only hunters knew what the other was thinking by a single look.

"Well shit, that didn't work." Olivia said to Maria.

"I know, we gotta learn how to do that." Maria commented sadly.

"Uh, what?" Sam asked, horribly confused.

"Nothing." Olivia said quickly, causing Maria to slap her arm.

"He stopped to heal Red, that's it. We think, we were getting ready when he dropped in, then left before we saw him." Maria told them truthfully.

"Let's have a supernatural free day, alright?" Dean said, glancing in the rear view mirror at the girls.

"Is there such a day?" Maria questioned.

"There is today." Sam nodded.

"Where is a damn waffle house, anyways?" Dean muttered, as they arrived in the city. After all, it wasn't very far from the motel.

"Uhm…" Maria whipped out her phone and looked on her map app. "Ah ha! There's one around the corner." She put her phone back in her pocket and looked out the window. "Turn left and it's the third one on the right."

"You mean the one with a giant waffle sign?" Olivia teased.

Dean followed directions and pulled into the parking lot. They all hopped out of the car at the same time.

"Hey, how are we supposed to impress you if you don't let us open the door for you?" Sam asked, linking arms with Olivia.

"Do you really think you still need to impress us?" Maria asked, raising an eyebrow.

"No, but we still want to." Dean said, linking arms with her.

They reached the door, and before either of the boys could, Olivia opened the first door for them. Then Maria rushed in and opened the second door, waiting for the boys to walk through.

"Gentlemen." Maria said in a fancy voice as Olivia gestured for them to go inside. The brothers stopped and looked at each other.

"Are they trying to out-fancy us- Are you trying to out-fancy us?" Dean said, talking to Sam first then turning towards the girls.

They smiled and nodded at each other, turning back to their dates they dropped the smiles and took on a serious look.

"Yeah, and if we are?" Maria challenged.

"You'd lose." Dean said.

"Oh hell no, we'd take the championship. We're as fancy as the queen of England." Olivia crossed her arms. "And it's scone time, so prepare to be out-fancied."

"No one can out-fancy us." Sam said.

"Then I guess this means war." Maria pointed at the brothers as they finally walked through the doors and into the waffle house. The girls followed them inside and seated themselves in a booth in the far corner, so that they could see the entire restaurant.

"Terms and conditions?" Dean asked, sliding in next to Maria.

Olivia sat across from Maria, and Sam from Dean. The girls looked at each other and thought things through in their heads.

"If we win, you have to tell us whatever Red is hiding from us." Maria said.

"And." Olivia put in. "We get to drive the Impala at least two times each."

"One time each." Dean countered.

"Fine."

"And if we win." Sam started.

"Which you won't." Olivia commented.

"But if we do," Sam continued.

Dean perked up. "You have to wear a banana suit around town for a whole day."

"Where would you even get a banana suit?" Maria asked.

"I have my ways." Dean smirked.

"Do we have a deal?" Sam asked, looking at the two dolled-up girls. They looked at each other and nodded.

"Deal." They said.

The waitress came by then, giving each person a menu. "Hello, can I get you anything to drink?"

Dean looked at the notecard in his suit pocket, looking for her favorite drink, Sam saw this and did the same.

"She'll take a coffee with milk?" Dean read.

"And she shall have a Mountain Dew."

The waitress wrote it down and looked back up. "And for the two of you?"

"Just a water, thanks." Sam said. Dean nodded at the waitress and held up two fingers, signaling that he'd have the same.

"Alrighty, I'll be right back to take your orders." She said after scribbling something down, then she was gone.

"How did you guys know what our favorite drinks are?" Maria asked.

The brothers smirked and looked at each other. "We have our ways." They said in unison.

The girls shook their heads and leaned back in their seats, crossing their arms. "You sound like Red."

"Back to our bet, the games go until the date is over. After each portion of our date we will agree on who was more fancy, and whoever it was earns a point. Whoever has the most points by the end of the night is the winner." Dean said, still smirking.

"What do we deem fancy and un-fancy?" Maria asked.

"We have to be nice and civil and hold doors for each other." Sam said.

"So like a date, we have to act like we're on a normal date and do date-like shit." Olivia clarified. After a nod from the boys, she continued. "And what's un-fancy?"

"Well, we are going bowling later. So for example, if anyone is a sore winner slash loser, that isn't fancy." Sam answered.

"Aw man." Olivia whined.

"I'm sorry, but since when is whining fancy?" Her date asked, smirking at her with a challenging glimmer in his eyes.

"My apologies, sir. But are you saying that I am not being fancy when I am, indeed, fancy?" She fought back with fake niceness.

The next few seconds consisted of the two staring at each other, daring the other to speak first.

"She takes her fanciness very seriously." Maria leaned in to whisper to Dean.

"And you don't?" He questioned.

"I don't have to, I'm already extremely fancy."

Before Dean could challenge that, the waitress came back. "Are you ready to order?" She asked, setting down their drinks and getting her pen ready.

Sam and Olivia broke their staring contest and looked at their menus.

"I'll take chocolate chip, please." Olivia said, glancing at Sam when she used her manners.

"That sounds good, I'll take the same." Dean said, closing his menu. "With extra chocolate chips." When Sam kicked him under the table he glared at him. "Please."

"I'll take a plain, whole grain waffle with strawberries, blueberries, and bananas." Maria said, handing the waitress her menu. "Please and thank you." She winked at Olivia who gave her a thumbs up, mouthing good job.

"Now that's a waffle, make that two, please." Sam said, handing her the menu as well. "Many thanks." He looked away from the girl and saw Dean nodding in approval, mouthing nice touch.

She took all the menus and looked at the couples in confusion. "Okaaay. I'll, get right on that." She wrote down the orders and cast another glance at the group. "Pardon my asking but, aren't you a bit dressed up to be eating at a waffle house?"

The group looked down at their forgotten dressy clothing, Olivia was the first one to speak up. "Excuse us, but we didn't know it was against the law to be fancy. Thank you for asking, we appreciate the concern." She said.

The waitress raised an eyebrow but left to give their orders to the cook. Dean shook his head at her after she left.

"Some people just don't appreciate the concept of fancy." He took a bitter sip of his water.

"So what's the plan for the rest of the day? It's only eleven and Red will send us back out if we even think of coming home before twelve hours." Maria said, stirring her tea.

"Well, she was hell bent on us going bowling." Sam said, moving his water closer to himself.

"So we go bowling after we're done here." Dean said.

"But what about the after? We can't go bowling all day, can we?" Olivia said, drinking her Mountain Dew.

"Karaoke." Dean said suddenly, sounding excited. Maria and Sam looked at him with a really, seriously? That's what you chose? look. Olivia perked up and smiled.

"Yaassss! Karaoke is perfect, we could go to a bar and do that, and play the darts. Earn some money." She said excitedly.

"We should also just relax and go for a walk, maybe even dancing." Maria added.

"I can't dance for shit." Olivia said.

"Dancing is a very fancy thing to do." Sam agreed, earning a soft glare from Olivia.

"Indeed it is, so dance we shall." She said through her teeth.

"Okay, so we finish our brunch here, go bowling, dance, sing, play darts, probably eat at the bar… something's definitely missing from our day." Maria counted the activities on her hand.

"But mom! I won that game and Nick knows it!" A little kid argued as he and his mother walked into the Waffle House.

"Sweetie, its laser tag. Plus Nick's a little cheater, just like his father." The mother muttered. "We'll get them next time." She patted her son on the head and walked to the other side of the restaurant, picking a small table.

The group looked at each other.

"Laser tag is pretty damn fancy, if you ask me." Olivia said nonchalantly.

"It does let us practice our aim, Red would want that." Maria added.

"We could go after eating, it could be our time filler." Dean commented.

"A great way to end our double date." Sam put in.

After a silent second they all took a sip from their drinks, setting them back on the table at the same time.

"Laser tag." They said in unison.

The waitress cleared her throat, having seen nothing but them all drinking at the same time. "Uhm… here's your order." She said, carefully setting their plate of waffles down in front of them. "Can I get you anything else?" She asked.

"Just the check, please." Sam said.

"Right away." She said, walking towards the kitchen.

Dean and Olivia had already begun to cut into their pancakes, Dean took the first bite. "Oh my God, these are fantastic." He said, then cleared his throat. "Uh, what say you on the matter of the, waffles?" He asked in an attempt to be fancy.

Sam gave him a look so he shrugged.

"Well," Olivia started "They are fluffy, almost like clouds. The chocolate chips are melted but are still solid enough to hold their shapes. The butter was applied in an amount of time so that it's melted but hasn't made the waffle soggy. Ten out of ten would eat again."

"Should have talked about the syrup." Dean muttered, then looked up. "I mean, fabulous description. Well done."

"Sam? What say you?" Olivia asked.

He took a bite of his. "Wow, these really are good pancakes." He blurted. "Ugh, I mean... They're… fluffy." He looked down in shame.

"Come on man! We're supposed to be fancy." Dean said in disapproval.

"Is someone being a sore loser?" Olivia teased, earning a kick from Maria.

"Ow! What was that for?" She whispered angrily.

"Nothing, just making sure you weren't being a sore winner." Maria answered.

"What about your waffle?" Sam asked.

The short girl took a bite of her waffle and began chewing, thinking carefully about the flavors.

"Well, the blueberries are juicy and explode with flavor, although I wish there were more of them. The strawberries turned out mushy, not a very pretty texture yet still full of flavor. The bananas are cut perfectly, not too thick, not too thin. The combination of the three fruits make me happy. The whole grain fluffiness makes it an amazing waffle that most people couldn't pass up."

The table was silent for several seconds while they thought about the first part of their date. Maria kept eating her waffles, proud of herself for being so damn fancy.

"You win this round, girls." Dean said, taking a bitter bite of his waffles.

"Marivia: 1 Dam: 0"
