Two Chapters in one day, now that is not something I saw coming, but yay! Also I think I just have one maybe two chapters left. :)

Chapter Eight

Padme sighed as she sat down rubbing her hand over the swell of her stomach. She wished with all her heart that Anakin could be there with her, but that was not to be it had been almost four months since his death and the pain and grief was still strong. She knew she should be returning to Coruscant What with the news of Chancellor Palpatine's betrayal and death, but she also knew that she could wait a few more days before she went, because the meeting that she couldn't afford to miss was not until next week.

She wondered as she had many times where Obi-Wan was and what he was doing.

She was worried about him, though she had for a while hated him, but that hate had faded away as time had passed and all she could feel was worry. Knowing Obi-Wan he was probably wallowing in guilt and grief and blaming himself for everything and even if it was wallowing would not help him or anyone else and what if he began to hate himself and then really did fall to the dark side. with that sudden thought Padme jumped up with a sudden need to find him, before she realized that she hadn't a clue of where to start and she had not heard a thing about him on the HoloNet.

Before she could start thinking about how to go about looking for him, there came a knock at her door and she turned towards it wondering who it could be.

She moved toward the door and it hissed opened as she pressed the open button and stumbled back in surprise at finding the very man she had been wondering about how to find.

"I'm sorry." he said in a rush. "And I understand you probably don't want me here or to see me ever again for that matter, But I had to at least come and apologize for what I have done, though I know Sorry does not even come close to fixing anything or bring him back and I understand that you probably won't forgive me as I don't deserve it, but I am truly sorry for the pain I have cause you Padme."

His eyes dropped down to stare at his boots as if he was waiting for her to yell him and any lingering anger she hadn't even known was there quickly vanished.

"Obi-Wan." she said and then rushed forward to pull him into a hug. she could feel how startled he was and he made no move to hug her back for at least a minute or two before he slowly moved his arms around her.

She pulled back after a few minutes more, but only so she could grab his hand and pull him inside, letting the door slid shut behind him.

"If you had come any sooner what you said would have been very true as it is I have already forgiven you and I was worried about you." She told him as they both sat down across from each other.

"Why?" he asked not quite meeting her gaze.

"I'm not sure why, at first it was quite easy to hate you, but as time when on I just found I couldn't hate you anymore and I must admit I did try." Padme said looking away for a moment before focusing on him again. "I was just wondering how I would go about looking for you, before you showed up."

He looked up in surprise. "Why would you want to look for me?"

"Because I know you Obi-Wan." She said. "And if left to yourself you would let yourself drowned in your own guilt and that's not something Anakin would want."

He studied her for a moment, searching her face for what she was not sure., but at last he said. "You are right."

"Where have you been?" she asked after a moments silence.

"Anakin asked me to do something for him." He told her and then explained about Force ghosts and everything he had done since he had last seen her.

"So." she said when he was at last done. "Palpatine was a Sith."

"Yes"

She frowned staring at her hands, pondering how to ask her next question.

"Did...Did Anakin say anything about me?" she asked at last.

He shook his head. "No...I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault." she told him looking up and trying not to let the tears escape. she could see from his face he disagreed, but he didn't argue.

"So what will you do now?" she asked. "Where will you go?"

"I'm not really sure." he shrugged. "I'm sure I'll find something to do."

"You could stay here." she said. she saw the unsure look that crossed his face and quickly added. "That is if you want to...It's fine if you don't" her eyes dropped to her hands again.

It was a moment before he spoke. "Do you want me to?" he asked.

"Yes." she said looking up and meeting his eyes. "This house is big enough for both of us even with the baby."

"Baby."he said and she saw his startled look as his eyes dropped to her stomach and then quickly up again to look at her face.

"Yes I found out a few weeks after..." she trailed off, she didn't finish for Obi-Wan to know she was talking about after Anakin had died.

"I am so sorry." he said and she didn't need to be a Jedi to know that he was drowning in his own guilt.

She stood and moved so she could sit next to him and pull him into a hug.

Things would not be easy, but she knew things would get better.

"You will stay won't you?" she asked after a moment as she realized he yet to say if he would or not.

"Yes." he whispered against her shoulder. "As long as you want me here I will stay."
