I did it! It may not be the best story out there, but I am finally done. This is the last chapter. :)

Chapter Nine

Obi-Wan leaned back against a tree as he watched Luke and Leia Skywalker run laughing as they tried to catch R2-D2 as he rolled along keeping just ahead of the five years olds.

It had been almost six years since Anakin's death and though the guilt and pain was still there it was not a sharp at it had once been and he found that he was happy staying with Padme and helping her with the twins.

He had also found a job in Theed repairing ships and even though he wasn't as good at it as Anakin was, he wasn't half bad either.

He smiled as the children finally caught R2 and Luke had climbed up him trying to hold on as the droid spun around and Leia danced around them giggling.

"Master Kenobi." C-3PO said as he came to the door. Mistress Padme say to let you know the dinner is ready."

"Thank you, Threepio." Obi-Wan said as he pushed away from the tree. "Let her know well be in in a moment, please?"

"Of course Master Kenobi." the droid said as he retreated inside.

"Luke, Leia." he called and Leia turned to look at him at the same time Luke slid off of R2. "It's time for dinner."

"Yippee!" Luke squealed as he raced for the house Leia right beside him and R2 rolling along behind them.

"Don't forget to wash your hands." Obi-Wan called to them as he entered the house behind them.

"Yes Dad." Leia and Luke replied as they both headed for the bathroom.

Obi-Wan stared after them stunned, before he slowly meet Padme's own stunned expression as she stood in the doorway to the kitchen.

"I'm sorry." Obi-Wan said after he had recovered from his shock. "I'll correct that. I don't no where they got the idea that I was-"

"It's fine." Padme said suddenly, cutting him off. "I don't mind if they call you Dad. That is if you don't mind...I mean if you don't want them too." Her eyes dropped and he could feel the uncertainty around her.

Awhile later Obi-Wan sat by himself in the living room thinking. He hadn't said anything to the twins yet about them calling Dad. He really didn't mind. It was just that he wasn't sure they should, even though Padme didn't seem to mind and that was a whole other thing.

Six years ago he could have honestly said that he saw Padme as nothing more then a friend, but now that was no longer the case and he knew Luke and Leia calling him Dad wouldn't help with that.

He sighed as he ran his hands over his face in slight frustration.

"You know." a familiar voice said. "You should just tell her how you feel."

"He jumped and looked up to find Anakin sitting across from him.

"What are you talking about?" he asked. "And what are you even doing here?"

"I am doing what I do best." Anakin said with a cocky grin.

"Which would be?" Obi-Wan questioned not sure he really wanted the answer, but then maybe what ever Anakin wanted was important after all he hadn't appeared to him in almost six years so he probably had a good reason.

"Fixing things of course." his friend replied as he leaned back. "And also you know very well what I was talking about, but if you want to be that way I will spell it out for you. You love Padme and my children and Luke and Leia love you, so tell her how you feel."

Obi-Wan stared at Anakin. "Are you crazy?" he asked at last.

"Not last I checked." Anakin said with a wide grin.

He sighed. "In case you have forgotten Anakin, I was the one who killed her first husband. Why would she want to marry me? sometimes I'm surprised she even lets me live here and watch her children."

"No, I have not forgotten." Anakin said his face turning serious. "I have also not forgotten that both she and I have forgiving you for that. So tell her."

"How?" he asked.

"Who are you talking to Obi-Wan?" Padme asked and he jerked around to look at her before his eyes darted back to where Anakin was now smirking.

"She can't see me." Anakin helpfully pointed out. "She doesn't have the Force."

"I know that." Obi-Wan snapped at him. "Sorry." he quickly said looking at Padme. "It's Anakin."

"Oh." She said her eyes turning to look where he had been looking and sighed with a sad sort of smile. "You know he would be proud if the twins had you as a father."

"Obi-Wan blinked at her, well Anakin added. "Yes I would."

"But I understand if you don't feel that way about me." she said her eyes going to her feet. "But I really don't mind if they call you Dad and we can just stay friends."

"And theres your how." Anakin pointed out. "She gave you the perfect opening."

Obi-Wan ignored him as he stood and moved to stand in front of her.

"I love you Padme, but I was afraid you didn't feel that way and I did not want to over step." he told her.

"Really?" she asked looking up hopefully.

"Yes really." Obi-Wan said with a smile which Padme returned and he reached his arms around her and pulled her into a hug.

Anakin grinned. So life hadn't gone the way he thought it would, but it hadn't turned out to bad either.
