Hey there, hope this will be the first and last of my notes.
This is totally mandatory, for I have to tell you what is going on and what my absence really means.
I don't know how many of you have heard, but there is a so called "accident" in my country that actually happens to be murder. A coal mine has collapsed on the miners 2000 meters under ground, and due to profit seeking authorities' negligence, at least 600 of the workers had died. My country is weeping, and we are in national mourning.
That's not all. Today, the prime minister punched a 20 year old girl in the face multiple times. It's been reported that she had said "What's my father's murderer doing here?" so suppose she was the daughter of one of the victims. News channels turned a blind eye, (what a surprise) and the video is getting deleted from the internet every time someone uploads it. (it's been uploaded constantly, so you can find and watch it.)
The compensation the victims' families will be receiving has calculated by the authorities as 1000 Turkish Liras, (351 Euros or 481 Dollars) That's what a man's worth in Turkey. See?
There is so much more to say, but I'm leaving it at that. My heart aches for my people, for those who died in vain.
Even though the chapter has been half-written for weeks, I don't have the spirits to finish it. You can't get anything done when you live in a country like that.
Promise I'll do my best to finish it as soon as possible, in the mean time, I beg of you to inform every one of your friends about what's happening in Soma, Turkey. We need every support we can get.
Take care of yourselves and enjoy your freedom for me as well.
