Chapter Two: Good News

Chapter Two: Good News!

Exactly seven days later, Obito Uchiha and Hatake Kakashi decided to come out as a couple together, though obviously a select few knew of the relationship the day after the pair had revealed their feelings for each other; Like Minato, Rin, the Uchiha clan and the owners of the ramen shack. (They having seen the pair coming to the shack for ramen together.)

The actual town of Konoha seemed shocked by the revelation, Obito Uchiha and Hatake Kakashi were gay, never mind that they were together! Both boy's were only fourteen, (A/N. ahh, this is where I start fucking with the story a bit!) both were handsome, people seemed to be able to tell even with Kakashi's mask plastered to his face as it always was.

Almost every being in Konoha had seen the pair walking down the streets with eyes only for each other; their hands could have been glued together as they never parted. They were quickly branded the couple of the moment for the shinobi village. Everyone thought the pair really did look happy together, a perfect match.

Two weeks after the pair's 'coming out' Minato strode up the path to the Uchiha household and knocked on the great wooden door, his usual grin sitting upon his handsome face. Obito Uchiha answered the door alone; he too with a grin upon his well featured face.

"Morning, Obito-kun!" said the blonde haired ninja joyfully. "I was wondering if Kakashi-kun was here?"

"Kashi-san!" shouted Obito, Minato noted the use of 'san' as a term of respect.

"What is it, Obito-kun?" called back the silver haired ninja from within the house.

"Minato-Sensei is here to see ya bout something!" he answered, within moments Kakashi stood beside the young Uchiha, his face bare and maskless.

"Need a quick little chat, I assume you have a minute?" Without waiting for a reply Minato turned and walked a ways down the path from the Uchiha family household, he turned and waited for Kakashi near the gates. "Back in a minute, Obi-san."

The young silver haired ninja ran down the path, halting just in front of the cheery blonde haired ninja. "Yeah, Minato-sensei?"

Minato looked down at Kakashi, for a moment his face expressionless before saying, "Sarutobi-sama has just issued you to become a Jounin!"

Kakashi blinked, taking him a few moments to register what he had just heard. Suddenly he drew in a massive breath, and to Minato's great surprise the now-Jounin levelled ninja embraced him, his eyes glistening with tears. The blonde haired ninja smiled softly and gave the silver haired ninja a slight squeeze.

"I need to tell Obi-san!" the younger shinobi exclaimed.

Turning, the young Jounin started to run back to the Uchiha household before Minato yanked him back.

"Wait a minute, I have more news!" exclaimed the older ninja.

Kakashi turned impatiently, jogging on the spot waiting for Minato to continue.

"Since you're a Jounin I as the teams sensei do not have to accompany you on each mission, so this time in three days you'll all be taking an A-ranked mission into the Land of Rain to spy on some other ninja, I'll fill ya in later, okay?"

"… You must be joking." Whispered the handsome blonde haired ninja, his usually happy deep blue eyes wide with shock and tinted with sadness. He stood outside of the front door to his house; a message-nin knelt in front of him. The message nin shook his head.

"Only Rin-chan returned unscathed from the mission, it was impossible to excavate the body between herself an Kakashi-kun and the cave was quickly collapsing, no doubt the work of the enemy nin they were spying on. Earlier in the mission Kakashi-kun was reported to have had his left eye damaged in one of the early attacks, though now it appears it was the Uchiha's wish for the boy to have his Sharingan after being crushed under the rock fall. Both living members of the team are said to be in a state of shock and depression and are both underdoing medical care in the hospital."

With that the message-nin bowed and disappeared, off to report to the Hokage of the misgivings as well. Minato turned and closed the door, his eyes began to water over with tears. He gulped, attempting to keep himself from tears for Kushina, but after only three steps they spilled from his eyes and the grown man broke down, sobbing distraughtly.

"Minato-kun!" gasped Kushina, who had come to investigate the message before finding her husband lying upon the ground. She rushed to his side, he looked up to her sad eyes and his voice shook when he spoke. "Obito Uchiha … he's dead!"

Three day's later the town of Konoha held a service in memory of Obito Uchiha. It was impossible to recover his body, but still there lay a coffin upon a stand and a simple picture of Obito and Kakashi, each grinning and giving a peace sign to the camera. It was a picture picked out by the Uchiha family themselves, because they new his last few weeks of his life were the happiest they had ever seen him.

Though he was a young ninja his funeral was as great as the Hokage's had been before him, the entire Konohan nation attended, well bodies or not, and each member represented the family and Kakashi himself with a single white rose.

No sound was heard when people began giving their speeches in front of the crowd, ending the funeral sadly. First naturally cam the third Hokage, he spoke simply but his words filled with sorrow.

"Obito Uchiha had always been known as a young, fun loving and very talented shinobi. As Hokage I felt a very special bond to him, as I do to all the youngsters in our great nation. Loosing Obito-domo is like loosing a grandchild, a thought you would not like to think. Today we commemorate this young boy for his valiant actions in his final mission; though he was only fourteen years of age he did something truly amazing that no one here today can say they have ever done. He gave his life for us."

Next was Obito's parents, they supported each other onto the light wooden stage and cleared their throats.

"Obito-san was the best child we could ever have asked for …" began his mother, her voice shook slightly, she was on the verge of tears again. "He was the perfect son, he was neat, talented, friendly and courteous to everyone he met-" Her voice shook again and tears spilled down her soft cheeks, Obito's father took a slight step forwards and began his own speech.

"Like my wife said, Obito-san was truly the perfect son. I was and am so proud of him, I loved him so much and I never told him that … as a father I feel like a failure, why should I get to live when he had to die? The only concellation I can possibly gleam from Obito's death is that the last few weeks of his life were the best he ever experienced, thanks to his boyfriend, Hatake Kakashi."

The mourning couple walked down from the stage and everyone looked to Kakashi, expected him to give his speech of how he loved Obito and how he missed him.

But he didn't.

Instead he strode down the aisle separating the two halves of the city boldly, his face masked, his eyes blank and expressionless. That was the last time many of the villagers saw Hatake Kakashi for many years to come.
