One Year Later...
The sun was brightly shining that day as Mr. Todd and Nellie were relaxing on the porch of their home.
"Sweeney…"
"Yes my love?"
"I 'ave a surprise for ye." She chirped.
"I as well my pet." He murmured.
"Well… I know you really cared for this so I cleaned it up a little, hope you don't mind." She took the doll from behind her and gave it to Sweeney. A devilish smirk drew across his face as he kissed his darling Nellie Lovett.
"Hold it for a second" he placed it back into her small hands as he was fixing his scarf. On the doll, there was now a string around its neck with a golden ring.
"OH Sweeney!" She gasped, holding a hand to her heart in surprise. She wrapped her arms around him and he lost balance, making him thud to the ground.
"Are you okay?" Nellie asked, surprised again, still pinning him to the floor.
"Yes…yes my pet." He grunted breathlessly. Nellie kissed him repetitively and Toby walked in.
"TOBY" She yelled excitedly, she got up and ran to hug her boy Sweeney slowly got up and stood by the stairs on the porch.
"Sweeney asked for me to marry 'im!"
"Yes mum I know." He said with a strained voice, as his mother squeezed the life out of him. She then gave him a confused look.
"You don't think I would have proposed to you without asking you kid here, do you?" Sweeney interrupted her thoughts with a gently smile.
She walked up to Mr. Todd, putting her hands around his waist as his hands wrapped around her back.
"This is the start of a great life dear." She whispered to him.
"Yes it is my love…. Yes it is."
Nine Months Later...
"Mrs. Todd congratulations, it's a girl." The doctor said to an extremely tired and uncomfortable Nellie Todd. She sighed in relief when he handed the daughter of Sweeney and Nellie Todd to her. She was beautiful, but Nellie quickly noticed something strange.
"Yellow 'air." She whispered to herself. She knew her mother had blonde hair but she never thought it would be inherited by her only daughter.
"MUM!" Toby ran through the door.
"Hush love, she's sleeping."
"She?" Toby asked awkwardly.
"She…" Sweeney breathed in relief.
"Yes Toby, it's a girl."
Nellie wasn't sure if she wanted to show her husband their daughters glowing hair. She thought it might bring back his love for his other family, not that she cared that he loved Johanna… just that blonde nit he once called a wife.
"May I hold her?" Sweeney asked sheepishly. She screamed "NO!" in her head but the beautiful puppy dog eyes made her give in.
"Sure Sweeney, just don't take the blanket off 'er 'ead, might catch cold." Sweeney nodded in understanding has he rocked his child back and forth. Suddenly a wind howled through the door and though Sweeney held his daughter to his chest to make sure none of the wind struck her, the top of the blanket fell off, revealing the blonde hair she contained. Sweeney just stood there as her tiny crystal blue eyes opened. He stared at her, and her to him.
"I'm so sorry love!" Mrs. Todd cried out. "I didn't want you to be upset whenever you saw your daughter!" He seemed to be paying no attention; he just stared at the baby girl, who was now gurgling a wide grin. "Please don't be mad at me!" She said again, now rambling. "It's not me fault, it's me stupid mums fault with 'er yellow 'air and blue eyes!'
"Hush love." Sweeney said, not even looking at her. Nellie looked up to see him gawking over his child. "She's beautiful." He whispered.
Nellie kissed Sweeney briefly due to the interruption by Toby.
"What we gonna call her mum?"
"Tara…" Sweeney said quietly.
"Wot was that love?" Nellie asked.
"Uhm… Tara. Tara Todd. Toby and Tara Todd."
"I like it." Toby insisted to his mother.
Nellie looped her arm around Toby's shoulder and caressed his head with her hand."Me too love… me too."
