Chapter 4 : The Ladies Man.
Lying in bed, Brooke snuggled in closer to Nathan's body. Burying her face into his chest she tried to forget all the horrible things they had been through in the past.
Everything that happened between them might have made them better friends in the end but it confused the hell out of her.
She'd watched all the great movies and read the love stories about best friend who end up falling for each other and she was starting to get those same feelings.
There was no one else in her life that she cared so much for. No one she was more willing to do anything for.
Tilting her head up, she checked his eyes wondering if he had fallen asleep already. His eyes were closed.
An urge deep inside her told her to leave, 'leave now before you ruin things' he mind pleaded with.
Slowly peeling back the covers off of her body, she slid from his grasp and snuck out of his house.
Brooke needed to clear her mind; she needed to not thinking about being in his arms. Even though they were the only place she felt safe.
Confusion started to set in as she thought about all the feelings she was having now.
Do I just feel this way because he knows more about me than anyone?
Is it just because he's seen me at my most vulnerable?
I've never felt love, this just has to be friend love.
Shaking her thoughts mentally she got into her baby blue Volkswagen and drove back to her house.

Creeping into the front door of her own house, Brooke's body froze as she heard the uptight tone of her mother's voice.
"Where have you been Brooke Penelope Davis?"
Brooke stood there trying to come up with a good answer but she knew there wasn't any answer good enough for Victoria Davis herself.
"Nathan needed me to help him with something" she lied.
"Bullshit Brooke." Her mother's hands rested on her hips as she stared down Brooke. "Nathan has a very important game tomorrow and he doesn't need you over there distracting him from concentrating. You know how important basketball is to him."
'What do you know about Nathan?' Brooke asked her mother mentally. She didn't dare say it aloud; it would only cause her mother to go off on a rampage.
The alcohol was heavy on her breathe as Brooke Stared at her mom.
"What were you thinking showing up to a School event wasted?" Brooke asked, staring at her mother and awaiting an answer.
"Oh Brooke how naive you are. You know nothing about the real world and seeing as you're not so smart you could grasp the concept." Her mother spat back at her.
"What do you know about anything?" Brooke scream, letting her emotions show through. "You're too drunk half of the time to notice. All because dad would rather sleep with the other moms than you."
Just as the words quickly came, they froze with a hard slap across her face. Reacting out of instinct, Brooke held her hand over her face and stared down her mother.
"Who cares what you think, your not worth anything anyways." Brookes mother spoke, cold and calculated. Victoria could careless if she was hurting her daughter.
"I need to get some sleep" Brooke mumbled under her breathe as she shut the front door and headed for the stairs, just to get cut off my Victoria.
"Listen to me Brooke, you're not smart. Your looks are all you have but Nathan actually has talent. Don't ruin things for him."
Clinching her jaw Brooke just stared at the stranger in front of her. Her mother knew nothing about her and Brooke still didn't understand why she cared so much about her opinion.
"Yes Mother." Brooke said through her teeth before passing by her mother and going straight to her room.

Standing in front of the full length mirror, Brooke ran a brush through her hair. Trying to catch all the fly-a-ways and make her hair look flawless.
Placing her brush down on her dresser, she took a step back admiring herself in the Black and Blue Ravens cheerleading outfit.
Tonight was just like every other Basketball, Brooke would go out and stand on the side of the court cheering on her best friend.
Only, now she had different kinds of feelings for him.
Brooke looks up and saw Nathan standing in the doorway, rising from his bed she stepped closer.
"Nathan.. I tried to give you your space and let you breathe but you know I can't stand it when you don't talk to me. I talk to you about everything and I don't want it to be a one way street." She spoke quickly and irrational.
"Brooke.." he said softly as she felt his eyes on her.
Walking over he placed his hands on her arms and turned her to face him. Looking up Brooke just wanted to know how he was feeling, If something had changed for him again.
Brooke would never forgive herself for hurting Nathan so much by sleeping with Lucas but she was truly sorry. It was if every time things got back to normal, something would happen to remind them of the past.
"Brooke I just needed a chance to cool off.. I just couldn't handle it and I didn't want to say something stupid in the moment of anger that could cost me you." Nathan smiled in her direction but she knew it wasn't fully genuine.
All she could do was nod as she took a few steps forward and wrapped her arms around his body, burring her face into his chest.
She couldn't loose Nathan; he was the only person who understood her world. He saw past her fake smiles to the broken girl inside.
Walking out of the locker room, Brooke headed towards the gym. As she turned a corner she stopped and peeked around. Up ahead she spotted Nathan, her Nathan, putting the moves on Tutor girl.
Swallowing hard the lump that she was trying to get rid of remained.
Right as Brooke was starting to realize there might be more between her and Nate, she was also reminded of what a player he was.
Brooke should have known better, after all this was her best friend. She had watched him go through many girls over the years.
There he was, Nathan Scott, the ladies man.
