"Your son has a very violent anger issue. Ma'am, I suggest a therapist." Edward listened to the doctor talking to his mom who was, miraculously, not stoned, drunk, or high for once. She'd been like that a lot ever since his pathetic excuse for a father- damn that man- ran off.
"I believe this to be one of the worst cases I've ever encountered. Are there any family problems? Did anyone else have this problem? Any relatives you know of?" The doctor asked his mother question after question, pelting them down like acid raindrops on Edward's ears. He flinched, covering his ears until the doctor stopped.
When she failed to respond to any of them, the doctor asked timidly, "Mrs. Elric?" His mom looked like she might start to cry. That wasn't good. Edward hated it when she cried- it usually meant Alphonse would be in trouble later for it.
"Shut up. SHUT UP YOU FILTHY BASTARD!" His mom stared at Edward in shock. The thought of Alphonse in pain because of something he had done.... It wasn't pleasant. In fact, it made him lose complete control.
"You probably live in a perfect house, maybe two stories high, with a perfect wife and perfect kids and drive a perfect car to your kid's perfect school and live a perfect life! You're perfect, all right! You're a perfect motherfucker alright! You have no idea!" Edward screamed at the poor man in rage. "And I bet you'd never leave your kids for-"
"EDWARD JORDAN ELRIC! BE QUIET!" His neighbor and his mother's support system, Granny Pinako, bellowed at him.
"And YOU! You don't give a FUCK about me or mom really! You just want our money! Well, guess what? You can go to hell, you old bat! You're so-" Edward began to yell at Granny Pinako when he felt the sharp sting of a medical needle in his shoulder. He blinked, watching the room's colors fade away and the blackness settle in.
The last thing he heard before the black light took everything was the doctor saying, "Tranquilizers. This hospital requires staff to carry them in case of… unruly… patients." as easily as if he was talking to Edward's mother in a coffee shop.
Then...?
Then there was a sunny hill, his mother and father and Alphonse... Winry...
They were all there.
Waiting for him with open arms and warm smiles.
He started to run towards them, grinning and waving, but the sky had suddenly gone black. As he faltered, glancing up towards the inky darkness, they blew away.
And he was alone in the darkness.
So alone...
