Comfort.
It was a known fact the Sanzo disliked it when it rained. It wasn't that he disliked the rain itself, but the memories it brought with it. He would become more temperamental than normal, making him lash out at anything that he found even remotely irritating. Therefore, his traveling companions knew better than to bother the priest during the unpleasant April shower.
Except for her. Tianshi.
Without an ounce of uncertainty, the imp woman waltzed into Sanzo's hotel room with an obvious look of boredom on her features. She regarded his hunched form with a curious stare, her beryl locks shifting with the shift of her head. After moment of contemplation, she moved beside him at the window, aptly pointing out, "If you keep slouching, your back will grow a hump."
Sanzo gave her a look out of the corner of his eye.
"Well, it's true."
He rolled his eyes as a pregnant pause filled the room with silence; save for the patter of water drops hitting glass. Sanzo took a long drag on his cigarette.
"Why are you here?" He wasn't sure why he asked; he knew what her response would be. Sure enough, her head tilted to the side, lying softly on his arm. Her hand found its way to his, and she spoke:
"It hurts too much to be alone."
Silence ensued once more, and they just stood together, watching the clouded skies weep. For the moment, that was all he needed.
