Chapter 7
"Why are we at Malibu?" asked Jessica. "Didn't you come here yesterday?"
"Yes but Chris tweeted he's going to be here today," said Sara.
"Well," said Jess. Then she noticed the guy sat on the white beach seats with a very familiar hat. "I'm going sitting over there."
"Well if you take a cab at least let me know," answered Sara.
"What?" asked Jess.
"When you went home at the club. Stubby said you took a cab home," said Sara.
"Oh yeah that cab. Yeah I'll tell you if I take that cab," answered Jess, before she walked.
Just before she got out of ear shot she head Jessica squeal.
"Whoo he has to be the paps just showed up."
Jess groaned and sat on the seat.
"Is this seat taken?" she asked. "No oh good."
"Isn't it a beautiful day?" she asked.
The guy pulled his jacket around him and slid down in his chair.
"Oh I'm sorry you were asleep," apologized Jess. "Did I wake you?"
The guy shook his head.
"No oh good then your awake," she said, leaning down to her bag to get out some sun screen. "Could you put some sunscreen on my back?"
Chris chuckled and took of his glasses.
"How'd you know it was me?" he asked.
"The hat," answered Jess.
"It does smell like fish," answered Chris.
"Paps at the house?" asked Jess.
"Yeah ten," answered Chris.
Jessica sat up and pretended to stretched and glanced over her shoulder mentally counting the number of black vans in the car park.
"Eight," she answered.
"What?" asked Chris.
"Two vans are here," answered Jessica.
"God how do they know how to find me?" asked Chris.
"My sister knows how to find you and she's from Kalamazoo," answered Jessica.
"Now I'm stuck here for the rest of the day," groaned Chris.
"Oh how bad for you," answered Jessica.
"It's not bad you're here," answered Chris.
"You want to borrow our car?" asked Jess.
"The pink one?" asked Chris.
"Take it or leave it," answered Jess.
"Ok," said Chris.
"You have to leave your keys here," answered Jess.
"What?" asked Chris.
"If you're taking our car you can't leave AJ and Sara here without one," answered Jessica.
"Ok but she is a vintage she has original paint," said Chris, handing over his keys. "Look I love Jess."
"You name your cars?" asked Jess.
"Yes, "answered Chris.
"You named your car after me?" asked Jess.
"Yes," answered Chris.
Jess leaned over to kiss him and then went to sneakily swapped keys in Sara's bag.
"One question," she asked. "How are we meant to get to the car without the paps seeing us?"
"You're coming with me?" asked Chris.
"What else would I have to do?" asked Jess.
"We're going to have duck and you're going to have to borrow my sunglasses," answered Chris.
With some luck they made it to the car and out of the car park.
"So how long do we have to drive around?" asked Jess.
"Hmm I'm going to phone Stubby see if that paps have left my house and if they have we can go there so I can change," said Chris.
"If they haven't?" asked Jess.
"Then I'll give you a tour," answered Chris. "What have you seen since you got here?"
"Nothing. I'm been to busy following you around with Sara and AJ," answered Jess. "They seriously idolize you why do you think they are at Malibu beach again today?"
"Because I was stupid and tweeted 'd be there," answered Chris.
"It was pretty stupid," answered Jess.
"Well I got to see you," answered Chris.
"Not that I'm complaining but I've seen you every day this week since I meet you last Friday," answered Jessica. "Well bar Sunday."
"Well I have to record tomorrow so you won't get to see me unless you want to come watch," answered Chris.
"What time?" asked Jess.
"Hmm probably around eight till four or five," answered Chris.
"Yeah that sounds like fun," answered Jessica.
"So can I see you tomorrow?" asked Chris.
"Even better you can see me right now," answered Jess.
"Here," he said, passing Jessica his phone. "Call Stubby and find out if the paparazzi have left my house."
"I'm putting him on speaker phone," said Jess, as she hit the speed dial.
"Hey Chris," said Stubby.
"Dude are you eating my food again?" asked Chris.
"No," answered Stubby.
"Whatever are the paps still parked outside the house?" asked Chris.
"Let me check," answered Stubby.
"Really good sandwich," they heard him muttered.
Jess laughed. "Is he always like this?" asked Jess.
"Pretty much," answered Chris.
"Pretty much what?" asked Stubby.
"Just talking to Jess. Have they gone?" asked Chris.
"Yes," answered Stubby.
"Right I'm going to come and get changed can you tweet I'm going to the studio?" asked Chris. "Then maybe I can get back to the beach before Jess's sister drives off in my car."
"Or Stubby could drive this car back to the beach and get your," answered Jess. "So you can stay hidden at your house."
"She's a smart girl," said Stubby.
"Yeah we'll do that," answered Chris.
"There is the matter of the keys," answered Jess.
"Stubs you're going to have to talk to Sara again. Say you dropped your car keys in her bag when you walked past or something," said Chris.
"Just knock her bag over or something so then you can switch the keys," said Jess.
"See you in a few Stubs," said Chris, before Jess hung up.
"Can we tour the city anyway or is that to risky?" asked Jess.
"No we can tour the city let's just get the cars swapped back first," answered Chris.
"Deal," smiled Jessica.
