Chapter 13
"So, we need to talk about Sara," said Jess, as she got in the car.
"Hello to you too," he said.
"Hi," she smiled.
"So, your sister?" he asked.
"She will not stop going on about you," she said.
Chris cut the engine and got out of the car, he headed round to Jess side opened the door and held out his hand.
"What?" she said.
"I'm going to meet your sister," he said. "Maybe she'll stop then?"
"It'll probably get worse," she said.
"Well. We'll spend a couple hours with your family later," he said, as got back in the car. "She can see I'm just a normal guy," he said.
"It might work," she said. "Might."
"Have faith," he said, before he leaned across and kissed her.
They drove off and of course there was a paparazzi on their tail.
"Oh damn," said Chris, as he checked the rear-view mirror.
Jess looked over her shoulder.
"What are we doing today?" she asked.
"I was going to take you for a really nice lunch," he said. "But now."
"But now we are going for that really nice lunch," she said.
"But Jess the -," she cut him off.
"I don't care about the paparazzi," she said. "Yes, they seem overbearing, but I want to spend time with you, in public. I don't care about them."
"What about your family?" he asked. "Do you want them splashed across the media? Because they will follow us back to your Granma's later and they'll probably stake out and try and get more pictures of us of you and your family will probably be captured as well. Do you want that?"
"Huh I hadn't thought about that," she said. "We could car swap?"
"What?" he said.
"Go to wherever we are going for lunch," she said. "Then drive somewhere, lose the paparazzi and swap cars with Stubby. Drive back to mine and hopefully they'll follow Stubby should they spot him."
"That's not a bad plan," he said.
They pulled up at the restaurant. Later when they left they met up with Stubby, swapped cars and headed back to Granma's. The plan worked for a while but when Stubby walked out of Chris's house a while later. The paps realised that they had been tricked and paparazzi that had staked out Granma's house headed back there.
Unfortunately for him the evening got so late that Jess's parents made Jessica sleep in the twin room with her sister, so Chris could stay in Jess room. He was gone before they woke up and fortunately the paparazzi had left so he headed back to his house change and headed back to Granma's. He hid his car in the garage and headed inside to wear everyone was eating breakfast.
"Morning," he said.
"Morning," smiled Jessica. "You went home?"
"Yeah I nipped home earlier to change," he said. "Paparazzi have gone."
"For now," said Jess.
Chris shrugged. "We can worry about that later."
In the background the TV was on.
"Whoo sis you're on TV," said Sara.
"Who is this Jessica Olsen," said Libby Lamb.
