Alpha and Omega: The Accepted
Conrad's POV
"Come on Conrad! This way!" The pups encouraged, pulling me to some unknown destination.
I groaned, this wasn't my kind of thing to do, travel alone with some pups before David and Lou woke up. If I knew this place well, I probably would have been walking around alone but sense I had no idea where anything was around here.
All I knew was that I smelt water close by, probably a river that the pups wanted to play in. I was just the chaperone. It wasn't long before the smell got closer but it wasn't accompanied by the sound of running water.
"We're here Conrad!" One of the pups said.
"Where exactly is here?" I asked, my ears twitching as I payed attention for the sound of running water.
"The lake! Remember, David promised to bring us here but he was was to busy so he said you would do it!" They answered, as the sounds of splashing was heard.
I sighed, laying down as the pups played in the water, there was so much yelling and yipping coming from them that it was a miracle that I could my own thoughts.
'Damn that David, to busy being flirting with Lou to be watching the kids' I thought, thinking about how I left him with Lou all alone.
I hope they would just kiss already and get together. David I already know likes Lou and I think Lou might like David as well, I've never seen anyone coax this much emotion out of him before. David seems like an okay guy, but Lou isn't attracted to guys as far as I know. Then again, he never showed interest in females or males. Who knows, maybe he might end up liking David, hopefully he does.
"Conrad! Come in!" The pups said, knocking me out of my trance.
"Sorry, can't, I hate going in water" I replied, turning away from them.
"Conrad! Conrad! Conrad!" They cheered, trying to tempt me into going into the water.
I growled slightly, getting up and walking into the water just enough to get my paws in the water and sitting down, sighing. Hoping that was a deep enough depth of water to be in, unfortunately the fact that escaped my mind was that they were pups.
"You gotta come in more than that!" One of them said.
"Have fun!" Another added in.
Growling again, I inched a bit more in, not wanting to get any deeper than I was already. The pups however came around and started to push me deeper into the water and the sure quantity of them actually overwhelmed me and they pushed me deeper into the water to the point where my chest was in the water.
I did everything I could to keep my scarf out of the water, not wanting it to get wet, I wrapped it further around my neck. The pups began swimming all around me, laughing and having fun as I tried to get back to shore but I got so turned around that I didn't know where the shore was.
This was exactly the reason I didn't like going into the water.
"Hey kids!" I heard someone call out, someone I didn't recongnize by their voice.
"Hey Uncle Sammy!" They all responded.
"Who is that with you?" This so called Sammy asked.
"Oh this is Conrad!" They all answered at the same time, making it sound like a big echo.
"Conrad?" He asked, loud enough for us to hear "Why don't you come out of there?"
I sighed, walking over in the direction of Sammy's voice, I felt the pups swim next to me a couple of times before I reached the shore, getting greeted as I did so by Sammy.
"Hey there" He said cheerfully "I've never seen you around here before..."
"I haven't been here before, this is my first time" I replied, shaking out the water in my fur and making sure that my scarf wasn't wet.
"Oh, well I'm Sammy, nice to meet you" He introduced, smiling.
"I'm Conrad, nice to meet you Sammy" I replied, then wrapping my scarf around my neck where it belonged.
There was a few moments of silence between us, the only sounds that I could hear were the pups and the laughing and splashing. It was nerve wrecking, having to meet someone like this when I was all wet.
"Not to be rude or anything, but I feel like theres something off about you..." Sammy said suddenly.
"Oh, um, its probably the fact that I can't see..." I replied, that was usually the part others felt off about.
"No, thats not it..." He said with a questioning tone.
I was surprised, usually the fact that I couldn't see was what bothered them about me, probably because they've never seen someone who couldn't see. But this guy didn't care or did he just not notice that much?
"Maybe the scarf?" I asked, holding up the piece of cloth around my neck.
"No, not that either..." He said, still questioning what I could only guess was my appearence.
I stood there, waiting for him to figure out what was disturbing him about me and as I stood there I began to contemplate what it could be sense he didn't seem to mind the fact that I was blind or had a scarf which was the two things that I was bullied the most well that and...
"Wait, you're not a wolf..." He said suddenly, then the sound of a loud growl rang in my ears.
Sirius' POV
"Would you keep away!" Lou cried out, pushing away David as he held him close.
"Nooooo! I love the feeling of your fur..." David replied, lying on top of him and nuzzling his chest "It's so soft!"
I sighed, looking at how cute they were together, as I began to wonder how many times has David done this with others? From what Marshal told me, he sounds like he does this sort of thing often with other wolves. I was hoping Lou wasn't going to be another one.
"You two really are adorable" Sylus said as he stood there with Glacier and his brothers.
"Yeah, I've never seen two wolves who like each other so much!" Glacier added, looking at the two as David tried to kiss him.
"I don't like him! Just get him off of me!" Lou growled, keeping his paws on David's face as he refused to have their lips meet.
Seeing him squirm, I sighed and walked over, getting Drake to help me as we pulled David off of our friend, to which he responded by giving off a pup like whine that was cute coming from a wolf his size.
"Thanks guys, I swear I've never seen been so tempted to not kiss someone before" Lou informed, smiling at us.
"You guys just have to ruin all of the fun..." David complained, whimpering as he sat down with his ears pressed against his head.
I sighed dreamily, he was so damn cute! I really hope that he isn't what I think he is. But from what I've heard, it raises my suspicion that he does this sort of thing just to attract others. If thats the case, damn was he good at making himself look cute.
As Lou moved away from David, he was confronted with Lucas, asking why he wouldn't just kiss David already, of course Lou said he wouldn't but as the others began to explain how they were perfect for each other I found the perfect oppurtunity to find out the truth.
"Come on Marshal" I whispered, grabbing said wolf by the shoulder and forcing him to come with me.
Not that it seemed like he cared. I could tell he was one of those go with the flow kind of guy. Drake asked me what I was doing when I grabbed Marshal but I went around him and grabbed David, who whimpered when he was pulled away even farther from Lou.
I dragged them out of the cave and a good distance away from the others in order to talk to them how I wanted to. The whole time we were walking, David was complaining about being dragged away from Lou and even resisted a bit.
Once I was comfortable with the distance that we made from the others, I turned David to face me as he continued to whine.
"David, I have to ask you a question" I said, trying to get him to look at me.
"W-what is it?" He whined.
"Marshal told me that you've dated a lot of wolves before Lou, is that true?" I asked, finally getting him to look at me.
"Marshal told you that?" He asked, tilting his head and looking at the mentioned wolf, seeing him not paying attention.
"Yeah, he said that you've dated several other wolves besides him and Lou and not for that long"
"Ah..." He began, nodding his head "I see where this is going. You don't have to worry about Louis and I, Sirius"
He was laughing, quietly. I was mystified at this at first but when I turned to look at Marshal to see his reaction he had no noteable response. He looked at me for a second before shrugging his shoulders and turning around, not paying any more attention the the topic and moving away, apparently finding more interest in a few ants making a line as they carried food. I've never met a wolf so...jaded...
"Why shouldn't I worry? Judging from your history, I can see that you haven't made your relationships last long with anyone. If theres one thing I don't like to see, its my friends getting hurt" I looked at him straight in the eyes, glaring at him "I don't want Lou getting hurt in anyway from this"
His smile went away and he suddenly replaced it with a stern expression, like none I've seen from the happy go lucky wolf before.
"I told you, you don't have to worry about that with Louis and I, its different this time"
"Why should I believe that?" I asked, a little intimidated by him at the moment.
"You shouldn't, you don't have a reason to believe me, you haven't known me that long and you haven't had any past experiences with me and you can't trust me..." He stated, knowing full well of the facts that lead me to question what he said "But I'm asking you to trust me, I'm going to ask you to let me date your friend. Because, I have a good reason to believe that he is different from the others"
"What makes you think that?"
"Because I'm in love with him"
"How do I know what you say isn't a lie? That you're not saying that just to break his heart in the end?"
"If I can say something, I'd like to" Marshal spoke up.
I looked back at the wolf and saw him still interested in the line of ants and their efforts in carrying food to their home in the ground.
"What is it?"
"I've never heard David say 'I love you' before and I've also never seen him act the way he does around Lou" He stated, glancing back at us "I believe that Lou is different to him, but then again, its just my opinion"
I sighed deeply, wondering what I should do in this situation. If I let David go after him, he could end up hurting Lou and that was the last thing I wanted. On the other paw, he does seem sure that he's in love with him and I was hoping he was right.
"I guess I'll let you go on with this..." I concluded, looking away "But I don't want him to be hurt David, if you do I won't hesitate to get revenge"
"I promise, I won't hurt him" David retorted, smiling "I admire you for this, being so protective over your friend"
A dark blush spread across my cheeks, getting a compliment from him made me embarrased to the point where I felt like hiding my face.
"T-thank you" I said, flustered.
I heard a chuckle erupt from his throat, getting closer to me and making me look at him, causing a deeper blush as I looked up at him and examined his handsome features.
"Your welcome..." He chuckled and held my chin with his paw "You know, you're not bad looking yourself...I see why Drake is so interested in you"
I would have thought he was flirting with me. If it had not been for him moving away and the gentle swipe of his tail under my chin as he walked a little distance away before looking back and winking at me.
"Unfortunately, you're not my type"
I looked away, trying to hide my blushing face by covering it up with my paws. The only one who has ever done this to me before was David when we were younger and just before we started dating.
"J-just what is your type?"
He turned completely around, looking dumbfounded at why I would even ask that question. Which of course made me feel pretty stupid. Was I missing something that was obvious? Was that why he was looking at me so weirdly?
"Can't you tell? I like shy wolves!" He replied, his tail wagging.
I sighed. Of course that is what he would say, considering Lou and Marshal's personalities, that shouldn't have been a surprise.
Drake's POV
"You have to date him, Lou!" Marcus pleaded, whimpering a bit.
"Why should I?! I don't like him!" Lou argued.
I growled, somewhere in between this whole argument between if Lou would go out with David or not, I got stuck here while Sirius walked off with Marshal and...David. Of all wolves, it had to be him. Now, without knowing where they went, I had no idea what to think of they're meeting. I usually over react with these things and I knew I was when I starting thinking about the possibility that he was seeing both David and Marshal for a reason.
My mind started to make images of Sirius kissing those two seperately and, when I started to image Sirius actually liking it, I growled and shook my head.
"Drake?"
My growled continued when I looked at Sylus, who tilted his head in response. I blushed, turning and clearing my throat before turning back around and meeting him again.
"Yeah?"
"You look upset about something, I wanted to see if you were okay" Sylus responded, his tail wagging slowly behind him "Its Sirius again isn't it?"
"No, I have that covered, he just walked off with Marshal and David and I'm worried about what they're doing" I answered, looking at the entrance of the den and waiting for Sirius to walk in.
"Why? What do you think they're doing?" Sylus asked, tilting his head and sending me a wink "Knowing you, you're probably fantasizing about them making out"
I felt my face get red. How was he able to figure out all of this just from knowing me for a few days?! Sylus...he sure was different from the rest of the males in his family. I considered Cyrus to be practically clueless and the twins were similiar in the way of thinking, that wasn't saying much.
"I was right, wasn't I? Figures" he informed, chuckling "You know, you're a pretty predictable guy, easy to read"
"You make me sound like a simpleton" I responded, still red.
"I apologize, I didn't mean any offense by what I said. Its just that I've never seen someone so attached to someone else and, whenever you have a problem, its usually because of something relating to Sirius"
He was right. Surprisingly, I always had some sort of Sirius related problem, in fact, I might even make up some kind of little weird phrase to describe when I had a problem with Sirius.
"I guess I do..."
"Its not bad you know..." Sylus put on a sweet smile "I think its sweet...that you worry about him that much"
"Sweet?"
"Yeah, he's lucky, to have someone that worries about him as much as you. Someone that looks after him."
"Pfft, I wish he thought they same way..." I said, thinking about the stubborn wolf.
The conversation stopped when their was the sounds of screaming being heard right outside. Conrad was being dragged into the cave by some wolf, dragging him by his scruff. I took note that I had never seen him before, his fur was two different colors. Black all around the sides of his face, forehead, tail, ears and the sides of his body; the rest was gray with a few spots being considerably darker than the others. His entire build was muscular and he had a long scar across his right eye, it didn't seem to affect his vision at all but it did look menacing
I bared my fangs, walking up to pry him off of my friend when Glacier got infront of me. Did she know him?
"Sammy?! What are you doing?!"
"Glacier, get David! I found a stinking dog around the kids!" The wolf growled, putting down Conrad only to put a paw on his chest and hold him down.
"Get off of me you idiot! Let me up!" Conrad protested, struggling under the bigger canine.
"Do as he says!" I growled, pushing past Glacier as I glared at the wolf.
"Who are you?!"
As I was about to pounce on him, Conrad rolled out of his hold and let his scarf fall down to the ground, keeping one end in his mouth. I already knew what was going to happen when I saw the wolf go for Conrad's scruff again. I've seen this many times, when Conrad would get bullied he found out a way to put that scarf of his to good use.
He waited for the right moment to move away from the wolf's jaws and, as he still moved forward, Conrad looped the other end of his scarf around his neck and grabbed that end in his muzzle as well, pulling in the opposite direction that the wolf was going in with a quick, strong pull. In the blink of an eye, the wolf that pinned Conrad to the ground was, himself, laid flat on the ground, looking up at the ceiling of the den and trying to figure out what happened to him.
"Don't. Do. That. Again" Conrad growled, wrapping his scarf around his neck again and moving over to me, taking a seat.
Glacier came between us again and kept Sammy away from Conrad as he tried to get around her. I got in front of him, as a last line of defense, but Conrad growled when I did this and pushed me aside.
"I don't need to be protected Drake" He protested, hearing Sammy growl at him again and getting a smirk on his face "If he tries that again, I'll have him on his ass in a second"
"You think you can do that again?!" Sammy growled, looking over Glacier's shoulder "Just try it!"
"Get over here and I'll kick yo-"
"H-hey what's going on in here?!"
Looking to the entrance once again, Drake, Marshal and Sirius walked in, witnessing the argument between Conrad and Sammy. I smiled at Sirius and urged him to come sit by me but he instead took the spot next to Conrad, on the opposite side of me.
"Good! David! A filthy dog came into party and I brought him here!" Sammy growled, looking at Conrad.
"A dog?" David questioned, tilting his head "Where?"
"Right there!" Sammy answered, pointing an accusing finger at Conrad.
David turned and looked at Conrad, blinking a few times and smiling at him. He chuckled a bit before turning back to Sammy and nodding.
"Sorry, Sammy. I know you're past with dogs but he is a welcomed guess here" He responded, having that stupid smile of his on.
"Y-you would let a dog be here?! This whole thing is for wolves only! I'm not going to stay here if a filthy mutt is going to be here" Sammy argued, turning around and leaving the cave.
"W-wait! Sammy!"
David and Marshal followed the grumpy wolf. My guess was that they were going to try and bring him back, or at least stop him from leaving the party. As soon as they left though, Sirius looked at Conrad and whimpered.
"You alright Conrad? What was that about?"
"I'm fine! Stop babying me!" Conrad growled, walking away from Sirius "I can take care of myself!"
The was an awkward silence, everyone watched the whole argument as it unfolded and said nothing about it. I was surprised that the twins didn't say anything, usually they always have something to say about everything. But, with this atmosphere in the room, I didn't even feel like saying anything.
"...I'm going..." Conrad announced, walking out of the den again.
"Where?"
"For a walk"
Without saying another word, and without anyone saying anything else to him, we watched him walk out. Of course, Sirius followed him out when he was far enough away. I knew he wouldn't want me following as well. Thats why I waited a bit before joining in Sirius' search for Conrad. Trying not to get caught by him. Not that it mattered if I did. I was going to follow him not matter what he said.
Update! Okay I decided to update this story first because I'm having a bit of writers block for The Outcast (Alternate Ending) but I'll be back on the ball soon enough. Thank you to those who continue to read this story and thanks again for staying with me through it all. Please review if you can and...
