Love is a Funny Word

Chapter Three: Super Girl

Disclaimer: I don't own them, etc, etc, etc. . .

(A/N: Hello again!!! I shall be introducing my OC this chapter, *everybody cheers* JK, anywho, um, so I'll stop talking now, on with the story!)

Yuffie stared up at the ceiling, unable to catch any sleep. She listened to Squall's steady breathing; along with steady beat of the downpour hitting the window. It had been raining a lot lately, and she couldn't figure out why. Sitting up; Yuffie turned, and looked at her sleeping roommate.

Sometimes I have dreams

I picture myself flying

Above the clouds

High in the sky

Sighing, Yuffie walked over to the balcony doors, and opened them, walking through them. She disregarded the wet raindrops that descended upon her. She crossed her arms on the railing, and then rested her head on them.

Never being scared

But then I realize

I'm super girl

And I'm here to save the world

But I want to know

Whose gonna save me?

She glanced up, and something caught her eye. She brought her head up, and squinted through the pouring rain. Her eyes searched the roofs, but whatever it was, was gone now.
"God," she muttered to her self, "I hope I'm not hallucinating."
"No, I think you're just crazy," A deep voice said from behind her. She jumped about a foot in the air from shock. She turned around sharply to see Squall casually leaning against the now open door, with his arms crossed in front of his bare chest. With one hand over her pounding heart, she held the railing tightly with the other.
Her eyes had narrowed to tiny slits.
"Did you have to do that? You almost gave me a friggin heart attack!" He thought for a minute.
"Yea, yea I had to do that, I couldn't help myself." She sighed warily, and turned back around to lean on the railing. He noticed her slight limp from her stunt this afternoon. Trying not to sound too caring, he cleared his throat, but she didn't turn around, she continued to stare into the darkness, out on the pouring rain.
"Why don't you come inside before you catch phenomena?" She didn't move, "I would just like to be alone if you don't mind." His eyes widened, what ticked her off all the sudden, he though quickly. He took a step forward and was about to touch her arm, when she snapped. She turned around, suddenly very pissed off. Mostly, it appeared, at him.
"Just leave me alone okay? Is that too much to friggin ask?" With that she jumped off the balcony onto some crates, and ignoring her hurt leg, she took off, disappearing into the rain soaked night.
Sighing, Squall sat down warily on the chair, not even caring about the icy cold rain.
The next day, Aerith hummed softly as she fried two eggs for Cloud, who was currently in the shower. She stopped as she heard something outside on the balcony; turning off the stove, she walked over to the doors, and gasped. A very worn out Yuffie walked toward the doors; limping more than yesterday.
Aerith hurriedly unlocked the doors, and helped Yuffie over to the couch.
"Did you just come in from the night?" Aerith asked as fixed the eggs on a plate as the shower turned off. Tiredly, Yuffie lifted her stiff leg onto the coffee table.
"You could say that," She said quietly. Aerith looked at her appearance; her clothes were all dried and stuck to her body, her hair hung, tangled up in her face, and her pale complexion began to worry her. They both looked up as Cloud came out of the bathroom, in a towel. He froze as Yuffie's eyebrows rose, and slowly walked back into the bathroom.
If she hand the strength to, Yuffie would have probably fell onto the floor laughing until she was red in the face, crying, and about to pee herself. Aerith noticed this, and as she found some clothes for Cloud, she watched as Yuffie leaned her head back with eyes closed.
Sighing, she walked over to the bathroom door, and softly knocked, Cloud opened it completely, and as he took the clothes in both arms, he cast a worried look at Yuffie, and retreated back into the bathroom with Aerith.
She closed the door, and sat down on the toilet as Cloud got dressed.
"I'm concerned about her Cloud," She said quietly. Before he put his shirt on, he pulled her into a hug. She wrapped both arms around his neck contently; never taking her mind off Yuffie.
"I know, I know." He whispered into her hair.
They walked back out a couple minutes later, to find Yuffie, passed out cold on the couch, as the rain began again Cloud walked over to her, and pulled a blanket over her.
Remembering his hunger, Cloud warmed his eggs up, then sat down at the small table with Aerith, and began to eat as she sipped her tea, staring at the sleeping form on their couch.
"You need to eat something," he said quietly to her. She turned her head, meeting his gaze.
"I'm not hungry." She replied, looking back to Yuffie.

I'm super girl

And I'm here to save the world

But I want to know

Why I feel so alone

Yuffie stepped out of her shower, and wrapped her robe around her self. Smiling as her now warm body, stayed warm. After she dried her hair, she walked out to see Squall. Pretending he wasn't there, she opened a drawer to begin her search for clothing.
Squall watched her in silence. His eyes followed her as she returned to the bathroom.
Yuffie pulled her shirt over her head, trying to block out thoughts of Squall. She had wanted to apologize for what she did and said last night, but she couldn't.
"Like he cares anyways," she muttered to her self. Finishing up, she opened the door to find the room deserted. Figuring she could go train, she pushed the doors open all the way and . . . . Thunder boomed.
"Damn," She sat down on the edge of the bed.

Seems like a dream

But there's just one thing missin

Nobody's here

With me, here with me

Squall stopped swinging the gunblade around, as the rain began again. Now, frustrated and angry with the rain, he sheathed the gunblade, and started the trek back to the hotel.
Not really feeling up to facing Yuffie yet, he headed to the café; passing the villagers who were trying to get out of the hammering downpour. On step inside and his eyes widened, the place was packed.
"Never mind," Squall mumbled to himself, as he turned around and left.

As she lay back on the bed, she tried to find a pattern in the ceiling, her mind wandered to the dream she had when she had fallen asleep on the rooftop. She had no idea why she was suddenly dreaming about her mother's funeral.
Her mother had died of a severe case of meningitis, an inflammation of the menengies, about four or five months before the heartless came, killing her father, leaving her alone, an orphan.
"An orphan," She whispered. She had never thought about it that way before. Sighing deeply, she closed her eyes, a single tear escaping down her cheek at the painful memory of her parents.
She quickly wiped it away, angry at her self for showing such weakness. My parents would not want me crying over their death nine years later; she thought to her self. Thunder boomed loudly, slightly comforting her.
Her mind suddenly moved to Squall, and she groaned. Her feelings for him ran so deep, him hating her hit her hard, so hard that sometimes she thought about committing suicide. Even though she wasn't scared of dying, she was a ninja after all. It was the thought of Aerith, Cloud, and Cid's reactions. She knew Squall would probably rejoice, and crack his first smile in nine or ten years.
Or would he? He did carry her inside the hotel, then he helped her out of the sink, she blushed at the thought, and then he didn't yell at her when she was lying on top of him. She sighed, he is so confusing, but how could he ever love me? She thought sadly, more tears escaping. This time, she didn't try to stop them.

I need someone

And I won't stop

Till I find the one

Who will stop this

Longing in my life

That night, Squall slowly pushed the door open to the hotel room. Yuffie lay curled up in a ball on the mattress, fast asleep. He closed the door behind him, leaning the gunblade against the wall, and taking his jacket and boots off. Walking over to her, he knelt down in front of the mattress. Not being able to retain himself, he gently moved some stray dark hair out of her face, and he gasped. There were tear streaks down pale, puffy cheeks, and her eyes were red and puffy. Slowly her eyes opened tiredly, surprising him, but he stayed there. Her eyes looked pained, and mixed with fear. Sitting down cross-legged on the mattress next to her as she sat up, he turned to her.
"Why were you crying?" He asked softly, she had been staring at the floor, but she looked up to him.
"I-"she stopped as the tears started coming again. She took a deep breath, "I had a dream about my mother's funeral." She hastily wiped the tears away. Now angry at her self for shedding more tears.
"When?" He asked, wondering if she just had it. He noticed she now refused to meet his gaze.
"The night I slept on the roof." She said so quietly, he could barely hear her. His eyes widened, she kept this to her self this whole time?
Now, she looked up to him. Her eyes meeting his.
"Why didn't you tell someone earlier?" He asked, now confused. Her gaze softened, and he was worried she might start crying again.
"I thought nobody would care." His eyes widened, but before he could ask why she thought that, she muttered good night, kicked her shoes off, and rolled over to her side of the bed, with her back to him.
Sighing, he laid down, listening to her breathing get steady as she fell asleep. Thunder boomed, and lightning cracked, as he slowly drifted off into an uneasy sleep.

I need someone

And I won't stop

Till I find the one

Who will stop this

Longing in my life

The next day, Yuffie did hardly anything; she avoided everyone, mainly Squall, and aimlessly wandered the streets of Traverse Town. That night, she found her self at the café.
Sitting at the bar, she ordered a beer, as she waited for it; she looked around to make sure nobody had followed her.
"Here ya go miss." She turned back around to take her drink, then chugged half of it. Setting it back down, she dragged her hand across her mouth. A couple minutes later, a young man sat down next to her.
Yuffie glanced at him out the corner of her eyes. He has short black hair, handsome sky blue eyes, non-bushy eyebrows, slightly high cheek bones, and light brown skin. Her eyes moved downward; he is wearing a light blue button up t-shirt with a collar. He also has dark blue jeans, with black leather boots on.
She finally looked back to her drink, and took a long swig of it. Setting her mug back down, she then warily closed her eyes, but was jolted from her thoughts, as the young man next to her, spoke.
"Um, I take you're depressed about something." He said almost matter of factly. Her eyes moved to him, the rest of her body went still, except for her mouth.
"Just who the hell are you?" She asked quietly and rudely. His eyebrows rose, "and pissed too." He then held out his hand, turning to her.
"My name is Guyet." She slowly turned to him, and cautiously put her hand out as well.
"Yuffie," She said quickly. Their hands met, and she felt something she didn't expect . . . nothing.
Closing her eyes, she leaned her head against the wall in the waterway; she heard movement, then footsteps coming out of the water, but she ignored it, already knowing who it was. Squall sat down next to her. Neither speaking.
He turned his head slightly toward her, watching her every movement. All day he couldn't stop thinking about her, how much he had tried to block all thoughts about her, she would return to his mind.
Soon, he realized she had fallen asleep. He carefully picked her up, and took her back to the hotel. He carefully laid her down on her "side" of the bed, if you can call it a bed, then he rested down next to her. Quickly falling asleep.
The small girl was suddenly shaken awake.
"I don't wanna get up," she tried to roll back over, but she was picked up, and set on the floor. A coat was placed around her shoulders. Shaking the sleep from her head, she looked up to see the worried look on his face.
It was then that she became aware of the screaming and yelling coming from outside. Her father pulled her downstairs, and she stood next to the front door as her father equipped himself with weapons, confused, and now scared, she tugged his shirt. "Daddy!"
"Come," he said quickly, and he pulled her out of the house, and she gasped at what she saw. Houses were ablaze; black creatures chased and fought the people of Hollow Bastian. Her father got her safely to a gummiship, where he sat her down on one of the seats.
"Whatever happens, remember that I love you," with that, he handed her a package, and kissed her on the forehead, then disappeared. She ran to the window, and watched as he began fighting.
As time went by, she stood there, and watched her father fight bravely. She heard some yelling, and turned as Aerith appeared with Squall. Aerith seemed to be in tears, and Squall seemed near them. He looked back out and gasped. Her head snapped back to the window, in time to see her father attacked from behind by those things. She screamed as his body was engulfed by darkness.
She ran to the door to run to him, tears running down her cheeks. But Squall stopped her with an arm around her waist. She struggled, crying hysterically; yelling for her daddy.
She stopped struggling, and watched with wide eyes as her father completely disappeared in a blanket of never ending darkness.
"DAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDYYYYYYY!!!!!"

(A/N: Boy did that suck ass. Oh well, it was longer then the last chapter, am I right? Anywho, don't be expecting the next chapter for a while, I have a book to finish for English, so I won't have too much more time to spend on this. I hope you like my story so far, and please review!)
