Thanks for the reviews and for reading! I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to update sooner, but I've had a bad case of writer's block. Also sorry about the occ-ness and Riff's smoking, but I think he does smoke, although I'm not sure.

Disclaimer: I don't own Count Cain/Godchild. Kaori Yuki has that honor alone.

Riff's Day Off

Chapter 2

"Riff, I never thought you of all people would not know how to relax, but luckily for you I can fix that before the day is over. Now, settle down and we'll begin shortly." Cain remarked, smiling mischievously as he uncoiled the thick rope in his hands. He gave it a firm tug and smirked when he saw it was almost impossible for Riff to even fathom escaping from what he had in mind. Really, Riff had left him no choice but to intervene and take it into his own hands to ensure his loyal manservant was able to successfully relax and enjoy his day off. It was all for his own good. Really.

"I can hardly see, much less know what you intend to do Lord Cain. Please, is there any way we can forget this whole trifle—" Riff attempted to say, but Cain shook his head and began to wind the rope around Riff's body. His hands and legs had already been secured to the chair's arm rests, and all that was left was to ensure means of escaping were inadvisable for Riff.

"No, I'm going to teach you how to relax. But first, I think I'll leave you blindfolded until I decide otherwise." Cain said placidly, all the time his smirk growing more wicked with amusement. It did sadden him that Riff's azure eyes would have to be hid behind a blindfold, but if he were to have the older man's eyes left uncovered, they would be enough to deter him from his purpose, which he could not have. What he had planned was too much fun to abandon now.

"But Lord Cain, this is all very unnecessary! I assure you this will never happen again and—" Riff ejaculated desperately, but Cain once more interrupted him.

"I know it won't happen again because I'll personally see to that myself, Riff." Cain finished tying the rope around Riff and took a step back to admire his handy work. Riff was fastened securely in his seat and the black blindfold kept its treasure from view, much to Cain's growing chagrin. But if one is going to make the best of the situation, Cain did notice that the soft silk fabric of the blindfold brought out the smooth paleness of Riff's skin.

'Yes, this is indeed going to be fun for us both.' Cain mused cynically. The young Earl crossed the library and rummaged through a drawer in his desk until he finally located what he was looking for. He closed the drawer and went back to Riff's struggling side. He was nervous and anxious to get as far away as possible. Not from fear, but of what could not undone.

Cain placed a gentle hand on Riff's stiff shoulder, right by his neck. He leaned forward and pressed his lips ever so subtlety so that they touched the other man's ear. "You must relax Riff. You know I am not going to hurt you. I just want you to be unperturbed, and I just so happen to have the thing that will help you come undone."

Abruptly Riff became still and attentive to his Lord's words against his ear. A small shiver went through his rigid body. He closed his eyes even behind the blindfold and chocked out one final time, "I'm eternally grateful to you, Lord Cain for your concern, but you are wasting your time. I'll be fine; you know I would never lie to you, sir."

Cain smiled and muttered softly, "I know you won't, Riff. Nevertheless, I can't take any chances. The first thing in order to become relax is to-is to..."Cain broke off as he tried to sort his thoughts. Just how did one become relaxed? Perhaps he had been so consumed by his brilliant plan that the actual process to achieve ease was lost to him. " Hmm, I had no idea thinking how to be at ease was as difficult to understand as it is proving. Nevertheless, just allow your mind to wander and in no time your body will become limp." Cain said, confidently.

Riff arched a fine brow that resembled pure silk, and replied assuredly, "I don't think I'll be able to achieve complete repose being tied up to a chair as I am, Lord Cain."

"Well, you are just going to have to try Riff since I'm not going to untie you from that chair. No doubt you'll make an excuse and run away from me and my brilliant plan." Cain said, austerely. Riff sighed and settled as best he could against the thick rope to find a comfortable position, which seemed almost impossible.

Cain was about to commence his little plan to make Riff relax when a certain little ten year old girl, who could put to shame any of the most beautifully and artistically painted dolls of fine porcelain compared to her, threw open the doors to Cain's library and yelled, "Riff, you're suppose to take me to Hyde Park today and to Harrods to buy a new parasol! Why aren't you ready yet—" Mary Weather stopped and glared in utter bewilderment from her startled and guilty brother then to their bonded butler.

"Cain, Riff, what's going on? Why is Riff tied to a chair and why are you holding that in your hands, big brother?" Mary Weather asked, confusedly. Cain forced himself to smile innocently and quickly hid the object from Mary Weather's keen eyes, and quickly answered before Riff could. "Unfortunately, my dear Mary Weather, Riff will not be able to take you to Hyde Park or to Harrods. As you can see, today is his day off."

Mary Weather blinked and repeated in utter baffled, "A day off?"

Cain nodded his head, whilst Riff thought desperately, 'This is going to be a very long day, indeed.'

A/N: Not a very good chapter, but it's difficult to think what Riff could actually do if he did have a day off. Sorry it was so short. Could anyone please suggest any ideas that I can use for Riff? I'll forever be grateful!
