In this modern day fic, Mary receives the news that the man she loves is engaged to another and is bringing his new fiancee to her family home to meet everyone. Mary reflects on the news and her feelings regarding it.

While the Crawley's deal with the lingering effects of the depression, Robert struggles with Edward VIII decision to abdicate. Meanwhile, Tom struggles with his identity again after the new Irish Constitution. Amidst it all, Sybbie is coming of age. Main parings will be Cobert and Tom/Lucy but some Mary/Henry (because Robert lives with both, and Tom works with both).
