Sensei Watches Too Many Soaps

How could this have happened? How could such an amateur opponent bring me to my knees? Well, not knees per-se.

Master Splinter, a legendary Battle Nexus Champion, Student to the late, great, Master Yoshi, expert of ninjitsu, and sensei to four highly talented sons, was terrified. He stood on a rickety stool that teetered and wobbled tauntingly beneath him, while his furry paws scrambled behind him and clutched desperately to the wall. His heart beat a furious tango inside his chest. His breath was ragged and frenzied. His eyes darted restlessly around the room. Like I said, terrified.

So what caused such a spectacle? What could bring the incredible Sensei Splinter to such a state of fear? Only the most ruthless, heartless, cunning, evil, foe I have ever crossed of course! Such a mastermind of stealth, truly a genius of suspense. Yes I see his plan now! He wants to trick me, drive me mad with waiting and then when I am at my most vulnerable… he will STRIKE!

"Master Splinter?"

"Ahh! Oh, Donatello. You startled me." The intelligent turtle stood warily, glancing at his sensei with confusion and just a little bit of amusement. Master Splinter, meanwhile, continued to stare around the room like a madman. His entire body had started to tremble, and his tail flickered restlessly behind him.

"I see. Are you feeling okay dad?" He asked, now genuinely concerned.

"There is no time for such chitchat my son! You must hide, before it is too late!" Donatello blinked. And kept blinking. Very slowly he turned and scanned the room for whatever was causing his father's distress. Oh no! Thought Master Splinter, My son does not know of my enemy's evil. I must save him! But…

Meow. Splinter froze. His eyes narrowed. He's back.

Innocent as any kitten could be, Klunk wandered aimlessly from behind the couch and rubbed affectionately against Donnie's legs. Not noticing his fathers wide, alarmed eyes Donatello knelt to pick up the soft orange tabby and traipsed into the kitchen, shouting at Mikey that Klunk was hungry.

With a sigh of relief Master Splinter tentatively returned to the floor. With one last glance at the kitchen where his foe resided for the time being, the spooked rat trembled once more.

Why? Why?! Why did Michelangelo bring home a cat?!
