Hi everyone! Sorry this took so long! My Beta and I sort of completely missed each other on who sent what and when! :) But here is the next part! It might be another couple of days to the next chapter as I have family coming to visit that need to be driven around! Hope you enjoy!
If any of you have an Idea of what you want to happen to the Doc, I'm all ears. I roughly now, but if someone gives me something good, and I use it, all reward them by sending the unbeta'd version to them aswell for approval of use! ;)
For the Love of God people, I do not own Inuyasha and its characters!!
The moment she stepped into the room, he had the shock of his life. The pain was abruptly gone. The pain he had been living with for the last 500 years. The old ache that had become the reminder of what he should have done and said before he left. It had been utterly stupid of him to leave with out telling her that in the heat of the moment he hadn't been able to hold back and had marked her. Then she would have known that the messenger sent to Inuyasha's group had been a fake. He berated himself for not having told her how he felt, for having let his pride keep him from calming the fears he knew she had.
Inuyasha had been in a fit when he finally arrived back to their group two days after their defeat. His mark had been hurting then already but he had put it down to being away from her for too long. But at the sight of the enraged Hanyou he had realized that something was very wrong. He hadn't been able to get a fresh scent of Kagome or a sense of her presence in the general area even.
"You stupid bastard!" had been the only words to pass Inuyasha's lips before he was attacking. This state had allowed the Hanyou to fight even more fiercely than usual and Sesshomaru had been forced to use stronger methods to stop him. A blast from his demon sword and then a hit to the back of the head with the hilt had the boy spread at his feet. But before he could turn to the group a wave of foxfire engulfed him. It wasn't strong enough to do any serious damage, but it had hurt. The beast had come to the forefront. The only reason something like this would happen is if something had happened to Kagome, to its mate. With an enraged snarl he had the boy dangling level with his eyes but with a hand wrapped about his neck.
"Where mate?"
The eyes of the boy had shot open as he realized that it was not the calm Sesshomaru but the beast with in speaking. But not only was the beast present but was asking for its mate and most certainly referring to Kagome.
"She didn't know did she?"
Was the only thing Shippo could think to ask.
The beast dropped the boy at the sense of confusion coming from him. The short moment of reprieve allowed Sesshomaru to come back to himself.
"Explain" came the icy reply to Shippo's question as soon as Sesshomaru knew he had control over himself again.
With a lot of mumbling and stumbling Shippo told of the arrival of the messenger and Kagome's departure.
Without waiting for another word he had set off to follow the old scent of her. At the edge of their camp it disappeared, but still he set off into the air, trying to catch another whiff of her now elusive smell.
It had taken him hours to find it again. This time he was in Inuyasha's forest. As he followed it to the well and then down into it, he was slightly puzzled. Upon reaching the bottom, her smell was gone but a certain scent of magic was still resonating lightly in the air.
He knew that he needed to seek out her little group again for some answers. For some strange reason the Hanyou was even more enraged and unfortunately awake when Sesshomaru reached them again.
"You dumb fuck! How could you mark her with out asking?"
Ah! So the fox had told them about his lapse.
"What transpires between the Miko and this Sesshomaru is none of your concern"
Quick as lightning he had his sword out and resting on Inuyasha's throat.
"You will now tell me where she is."
Sango and Miroku had jumped into action at his very aggressive move and then decided better of it at the sight of his slowly reddening eyes.
"My Lord Sesshomaru, if you would sit all will be explained." The monk was trying to placate him and Sesshomaru allowed it, thinking that although he couldn't stand the filthy Hanyou, she would not like him killed. sheathing his sword but keeping his eyes on the treacherous boy he stepped back and around the fire now burning in the middle of their camp.
Inuyasha seeing the red eyes knew that if the beast came out to play he would be dead. Besides, if the bastard wanted to know in what a mess it was, who was he to stand in its way.
"Feh!" With that Inuyasha sat himself down on the ground. Only then did Sesshomaru let his eyes move to the Monk.
"The Lady Kagome is not from our time. She is from the future. The well, where I suppose you already were is, or was, her portal. It would seem from your reaction that the information we received was incorrect but the Lady Kagome was devastated and before we even realized what was happening she had left."
A look of awe replaced the sad one on the monk's face.
"One moment she was here and the next gone."
Sesshomaru felt pride at her achievement, which then promptly turned to ash in his mouth. He had been down that well and he had not traveled to her time. Unless she came back….
"How far into the future was she from?" Came the quiet response.
They all had had time to listen to Shippo's telling of Kagome's story and Sesshomaru's actions upon his return but were only now really starting to believe it.
"That is the problem. Lady Kagome was not sure exactly how far back she came, only the general time period…. About 500 hundred years."
Sesshomaru felt an icy hand wrap around his heart, acid burn his stomach and his head become all airy.
500 hundred years was not that long. He could wait. No! He would wait. His only fear was that he wouldn't find her and if he did she wouldn't listen. Her heart was so fragile and it must have shattered at the thought of his betrayal. The sudden impulse to resurrect the Lord of the South just so he could kill him again became nearly overpowering. It suddenly didn't matter that he had saved his castle and protected his lands by letting his heart slip away into a future where he could only hope that she would be safe.
He had taken the land around the well and Inuyasha's forest under his own protection. As time passed and the ache grew to almost unbearable proportions, he had a shrine built there and a house over the well. At times he would go and sit there for days, trying to be as near to her as possible.
Rin grew up and married, had children and died, but although he mourned her passing, it didn't lift the pain or change it for a moment. He watched her children grow and then their children. During a serious financial crisis he had moved them to the shrine and let it to them to take care of. Since then it had been in their family. He hadn't spoken to them in nearly 2 centuries. He had blocked out most things except business in the last 2. He only continued with business so when he final found her again, he could lay the world at her feet.
It was therefore with great shock when he saw the angel come in on the arm of another man. He had captured her eyes but been stunned to see no recognition. A sense of attraction, yes, but she hadn't known who he was. A slight flare to her left and he had seen the lips move of the man next to her. It was with a terrible rising of fury that he realized that the Youkai next to her had placed his magic on her. Or rather if he took into account what type of magic this cat Youkai was famous for, resealed a breaking seal.
'Dogs always did hate cats for a reason' was the last thought as he made his way to the pair.
