Tails stood with his arms crossed in front of his chest.
"Alright. I'll tell you once so listen up." Sonic said.
"I'm all ears." Tails said. Sonic looked nervous as he took a deep breathe and said, "I do...love her." Tails smiled, little did Sonic know that Tails had hidden a tape recorder in his well tails.
"Wait till Knuckles hears this!" Tails thought.
"I knew it! You love Amy! Ladies and gentlemen listen up!! SONIC THE HEDGEHOG IS IN LOVVEE!! Tails hollered. Sonic started to blush and tried to cover Tails' mouth.
"Shut it Tails!" Sonic yelled. Sonic ran to tackle Tails to the ground but Tails twirled his two tails and flew into the air above Sonic.
"Dammit! That's cheating!" Sonic shouted Tails flew around Sonic, dodging his hands. He pulled on Sonic's quills. Sonic yelped but laughed. He tried to grab Tails' sneaker but Tails lifted himself higher. Tails smiled and lifted Sonic off the ground by his quills.
"Ow!" Sonic yelped. Tails chuckled but let him go, Sonic fell with a thud. Shaking his head, Sonic looked up at Tails and snickered, "I'll get you little bro! Why don't you admit that you love Cosmo? Tails immediately stopped flying and fell to the ground.
"Ow! Man that hurt." Tails muttered. He looked up at Sonic. Sonic smiled, "I knew it." Just then Cosmo came towards them laughing.
"Oh Sonic you seen the look on your face when Tails pulled your quills!" Cosmo said giggling.
"It's not funny!" Sonic snapped. Cosmo and Tails only laughed. Sonic then said, "Well Tails should I tell Cosmo your little secret?" Tails shrugged his shoulders and said, "If you do that Sonic then I'll tell Amy YOUR little secret. The one you just told me. Or better yet..." Tails paused and scratched his chin, "I'll tell Knuckles your secret." Sonic glared angrily at Tails.
"You wouldn't dare. You don't have any proof." Sonic sneered. Tails softly laughed and pulled out the tape recorder from his tails.
"Oh I don't do I?" Tails spoke. Sonics' eyes widened in disbelief. Cosmo looked at them both with a confused expression on her face.
"What's going on?" she asked. Neither of them answered her.
"Okay...I won't tell if you don't tell." Sonic said. Tails nodded in agreement. Cosmo simply shrugged her shoulders and walked over to go stand by her love. Tails smiled and embraced her in a hug. Sonic smiled and said, "Well I'm gonna head back to Station Square so I'll see you love birds later." He gave them a thumbs up and sped off, leaving Tails and Cosmo blushing uncontrollably. Tails grinned at Cosmo and asked, "So Cosmo, what do you want to do today?" Cosmo looked up at the sky, thinking of an answer. Finally she spoke, "I don't really know."
"Well there is a place I want to take you to...but we can't go until later on today." Tails said. Cosmo nodded, "That's fine with me."
"We better head back to the house." Tails said. He took Cosmo's hands in his. Tails then picked up Cosmo lovingly and twirled his tails.
"What are you doing?" Cosmo asked. Tails pushed off the ground and flew with Cosmo in his arms.
"Hehe just like old times." Tails said. Cosmo grinned and wrapped her arms around Tails' neck, she nuzzled her face on Tails chest fur. Suddenly, a large explosion was set off near them. Tails was stuck so hard that he dropped Cosmo. Cosmo fell hard.
"Ouch!" she cried. Then she looked up and was horrified. The forest was on fire! She scanned the area for Tails.
"Tails! Tails where are you? Taaaaiiiilllssss!" Cosmo cried. She got to her feet and was careful to stay away from the blazing flames. Then, she saw something...a body laying on the ground. Cosmo ran to the body.
"No! It can't be! Please no!" Cosmo thought. There she saw Tails, lying unconscious. Cosmo fell to her knees next to him. She held him in her arms and listened for a heartbeat. She smiled softly, there was a heartbeat but it was faint. Cosmo shook Tails.
"Tails. Please wake up!" Cosmo said with tears forming in her eyes. She scanned Tails, he had several burns and cuts, some of the burns were pretty serious.
"I have to get him home right away." Cosmo said. She tried to pick up Tails when she realized something...Tails was heavier then she thought. Gritting her teeth she put Tails arms over her shoulders. Tails groaned and finally awoke.
"C-Cosmo.." he said weakly.
"I'm here Tails." she said. Tails gathered up his strength and stood up. Then he panicked, Cosmo was bleeding from a cut in her right cheek. Half of the bottom of her dress was burnt.
"Cosmo are you okay?" Tails asked.
"I'm fine. Come on we need to the house!" she said. Tails grabbed on to Cosmo's shoulders for support. Just as they were about to leave something emerged from the trees. A dark figure.
"Stop firing! You'll harm the plant!" it said.
"Who are you?!" Tails demanded. He let Cosmo go and got into a fighting stand. The figure only laughed and approached them.
"You fool. You dare to challenge me?" it said in a horse voice. Tails clenched his teeth together and balled his hands into fists.
"We just want the girl." the figure chuckled.
"Who are you?! And what do you want with Cosmo?!" Tails yelled, "Show yourself!"
"Very well." it said. The figure came from the shadowy trees and looked at them with piercing red eyes. It was wearing a dark, black cloak. Tails stood in front of Cosmo to protect her.
"My my. You certainly have grown up Miles." it said.
"How do you know my name?" Tails asked. Cosmo grabbed Tails hand, he held onto her hand tightly.
"Oh I know more then just your name my friend. But that tale is for another time. Now hand over the plant!" it ordered. Tails blocked Cosmo and spat, "Never!" He picked Cosmo up and began to fly off. Tails was not far when another explosion had been fired. Smoke was clouding around them.
"Tails!! -coughing- we need to get out of this!" Cosmo coughed.
"I know! Just -coughing- Hang on!" Tails said. He flew higher into the air. Just then something struck him in the face.
"Ah! I can't see!" Tails cried. Suddenly, he heard Cosmo scream. She was no longer in his arms. Tails rubbed his eyes and tried to see what was going on. He squinted and saw Cosmo. She was being carried away by the dark figure. She tried to break free by kicking and punching.
"Let me go! Tails!!" Cosmo screamed. Tails instantly jumped to his feet and ran after her.
"BRING COSMO BACK!!" Tails roared. The dark figure turned to Tails and stopped. He levitated Cosmo into the air and removed his cloak. Tails gasped in shock, he couldn't believe what he saw. The figure was a fox just like Tails. Only he was black with dark red eyes.
"What's the matter Tails? Thought you were the only one? Well you're not!" he hollered.
"How-?" Tails began.
"Am I like you? Well that's very simple...I'm your brother." the fox sneered. Tails shook his head and said, "No you're not! You can't be!" The dark fox tossed his head back and laughed. It sent chills down Cosmo's spine.
