Hey everyone! Sorry that I haven't been able to update my story I've been busy busy. Thanks for the advice by the way! I'm glad people like it so far. I don't own any Sonic characters, it's a disclaimer thing. Well back to where we left off.

"I-I don't understand....how can this be?" Tails muttered. The dark fox smiled and smirked, "And I thought you were smart. Well you'll find out soon enough Miles.." he paused, "By the way brother, my name is Tom." Without another word Tom turned his back away from Tails and began to walk away. Cosmo looked helplessly at Tails, fear filled her eyes.

"NNOOOO!!!!!" Tails yelled. He lunged forward and grabbed both sides of Tom's head. With all his might he dug his fingers into his head. Tom tried to throw Tails off but Tail only held on tighter.

"I WON'T LET YOU TAKE HER!!!" Tom lifted his fist and punched Tails on the side of his head with incredible force. Pain filled Tails' head as his vision slowly began to black out. He released his grip and crumpled to the ground. Tom was standing next to him, staring down. Tom gave Tails a forceful kick in his side and laughed evilly. Tails winced as he felt the sharp pain and tried to get back up.

"I've gotta save Cosmo! I can't lose her again!" he thought. A groan escaped from him as he got up to his knees.

"What use it that plant to you anyways?! She's worthless." Tom chuckled. Anger began to burn up in Tails.

"S-She's not worthless!" Tom snickered, "You are still a fool to try and fight? Well so be it."

Before Tom could hit Tails, Cosmo shouted, "No! Please I'm begging you! Don't hurt him." Tom turned to Cosmo (who was still in the air by the way).

"Very well. I'm not going to waste time on my pathetic brother anyway."

Tom turned his back and began to walk towards Cosmo when he heard a faint yell.

"You will-not take her!"

Chuckling to himself, Tom replied, " Ah you don't know when to give up do you? Is it because you love her? Love is an illusion! Meaningless!"

Tails cringed at the sound of his dark laughter. He could picture Cosmo's frightened face, her eyes filled with tears and horror. Trembling from head to toe he slowly began to raise to his feet. Moaning with pain he finally reached his feet, but only for a brief moment. As he felt something strike him with incredible force he completely blacked out. All he heard was Cosmo's screams as he...fell.

"TTTAAAIIILLLSSS!!"

Cosmo watched in horror as her love fell and didn't get to his feet. Tears began to swell up in her eyes.

"Tails please get up." she choked. Tom tilted his head back and let an evil laugh escape him.

"You'll never get away with this. Never!" Cosmo yelled. Ignoring her, Tom took her away and vanished.

Sonic was running to Tails place to see him when he noticed that the forest was on fire.

"Oh no...it's too near Tail's house. Tails!"

Sonic quickly sped through the woods frantically shouting Tails name. At last he found Tails and his heart ached at the sight. Tails was lying on the ground, a tree branch on his back. All over him were black spots that looked like he had been burned. His muzzle no longer a clear white but spotted with brown. dry blood was formed at the bottom of his nose. Tails tails' looked bent, the tips burnt and limp. Sonic speed over to his side and lifted him up from the ground gently.

"Oh Tails....no no no! Speak to me Tails! Tails!" Sonic choked. When he didn't respond Sonic began to speed to Amy's house praying that she would be able to help. Mean while Tails was having the most wonderful dream....

He was with Cosmo back at Love Lake(see episode 69). An instant memory. Tails saw Cosmo standing all by herself.

"Maybe now I'll be able to tell her how much I care about her, how I feel about her. Gosh she looks so pretty!" he thought.

He slowly approached Cosmo who was gazing off at the sky near the edge of a cliff. Tails sucked in a breath and said, "Cosmo!"

Immediately she turned around to face him and smiled a warm smile.

"How I've missed you Tails!" she thought.

"Hi Tails!"

"What are you doing here by yourself?" Tails asked.

They stared into each others eyes for a moment.

"The Marmolins seem very happy that you saved their planet." Cosmo spoke. Taking a greater step so that he was standing beside her Tails smiled, "I'm glad to be working with such a great team...especially you Cosmo."

Looking down Cosmo blushed, "I didn't do anything."

Tails sapphire blue eyes sparkled. "She looks so beautiful when she blushes like that!"

"You're wrong Cosmo. You were the one that came to us and warned us about the Meterex and helped us save the galaxy." Tails paused to look into her eyes then added, "You're not sorry you met us are ya?"

Shaking her head Cosmo spoke, "No I'm sorry I met you. Wait! That came out wrong!"

Tails chuckled brightly.

"Well I'll see you later Cosmo!"

"Oh hold on Tails!" Cosmo said as she ran after Tails. Little did she know that she had tripped over a rope that would activate a trap. Cosmo fell into Tails open arms as they were both launched into the air. As they flew through the air they gazed deeply into one another's eyes, blush brightly shown on their cheeks.

"Wow...I've always know Cosmo has beautiful eyes but now...they look absolutely breath-taking. Like I'm gazing at the ocean...only they're much more beautiful."

"Tails has such gorgeous eyes! I never wanna look away...not even for a second! They are like the bright blue sky that I always gaze at...but so much more vast."

Their eyes were sparkling. Finally they crashed into the water below and gazed at a magnificent moon rise while in one another's arms. There wasn't any noise except for the loud thumping of their fast beating hearts. Tails stomach felt like it was filled with butterflies every time he looked at her, heard her say his name and hug him. Cosmo's heart seemed to skip a beat when Tails looked at her, spoke her name so passionately and caringly, so lovingly. She seemed to lose herself in his eyes and when he wrapped his arms around her, she felt safe from any harm. Tails sighed and had a sudden urge to kiss her with all his might. But suddenly...Cosmo disappeared from his arms.

"Ah! What-" Tails began but saw Cosmo beneath the water's surface. Her eyes were filled with pain and fear. They were so sad...and seemed to be pleading.

"COSMO!!" Tails screamed. He tried to pull her out of the water but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't reach her. Tails tried to dive through the water but it seemed like glass, he couldn't get through. His eyes swelling with tears he pounded his fists against the water with all his might.

"No no no! Cosmo please I can't lose you again!" Tails wailed as he continued pounding the water. He saw Cosmo mouth, "Tails!" and then scream a blood churning scream. Tails woke up screaming. Panting and sweating he sat up in his bed.

"It was just a dream...a horrible nightmare." he told himself. Tails was trembling from head to toe and couldn't stop his shaking. A sudden breeze came into the room as Tails looked up and saw Sonic standing next to him with a worried expression.
