Hello my fellow readers! I hope that I'll be able to finish this story up and boy oh boy do I have some surprises for you! Here's your next chapter and I hope you like it. Sadly I do not own any of the Sega/Sonic characters.

"Are you okay? You've been talking and crying in your sleep..."

"Y-yeah but she's gone...Sonic I've got to save her!"

Tails began to rise out of the bed until Sonic placed his hands firmly on his shoulders.

"Now Tails I know you want to save Cosmo. But we need to come up with a plan fir-"

"No no no! He could be hurting her! You don't understand she needs me! A...And I need her!" Tails wailed and brushed Sonic's hands off his shoulders.

"I know, but you can't go at it alone bro. We'll get her back...I promise." Sonic said softly. Tails was still shaking and slowly tears were leaking from his eyes.

"Cosmo I will save you! I love you too much, I can't lose you!"

Sonic eyed Tails carefully, he still had several unhealed burns on his tails. His muzzle was still not fully pearly white colored. Sonic shook his head and felt anger build up within him, not only was he infuriated with the person that did this to Tails but at himself for not being there in time to save both him and Cosmo. Now here was Tails, a bandage wrapped around his head to prevent the bleeding oozing from the wound, his tails damaged and hopefully still able to provide Tails with the ability to fly and to think about what could have happened if he hadn't found Tails...

He winced at the very thought of his practically brother dying and no one ever knowing what happened to him. While Sonic's mind was filled with guilt and planning on how to stop this new enemy Tails' mind was elsewhere.

"Sonic doesn't understand, I have to go save her. If Tom is hurting her...I swear I will kill him! Never again will Cosmo be harmed! And no one is going to stop me...now if I could just escape from Amy's home without them knowing..."

Tails sighed, there was just one problem he hadn't thought of.

"How am I going to find out where Cosmo is? I don't have the slightest clue where Tom took her or how I'm going to rescue her...perhaps if I-"

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a familiar voice.

"Tails you're finally awake! Thanks goodness, Sonic and I were worried sick!" Amy replied.

"What do you mean Amy? How long have I been asleep?!" Tails panicked. Amy gave Sonic a glare and asked, "You haven't told him have you?"

"Tails is already too desperate to go rescue Cosmo. We don't need to add more to it Amy." Sonic said sternly. Tails looked at Sonic in confusion.

"...How long has it been Sonic?"

Sonic shifted his weight uncomfortably and muttered, "About...three days."

"What?! Three days! And you didn't try and wake me? Why-"

"Calm down Tails. You're body needed to heel and you still aren't well enough." Amy spoke softly.

"Amy is right, I know that you think this may be a bad thing but you gotta understand-" Sonic began as gently as he could but stopped at the sight of Tails. He was shaking and tears trickled down his muzzle as he curled his hands into fists.

"H-how could you? You know how much I-"

"Bro believe me I do understand how you're feeling." Sonic said. Tails shook his head from side to side furiously.

"No you don't! Amy isn't missing is she? She hasn't been kidnapped and you aren't filled with pain and sadness because you've been passed out for three damn days when you could have saved her! A-and you aren't the one who wants to save her but nobody understands how much you love her and not wanna lose her again like b-before! No that is not how you're feeling so don't try and calm me down by saying you know how I feel!"

Tails was breathing hard and not even bothering to brush away his tears. Instead he looked straight at Sonic, who was taken back by Tails reaction. Amy slowly approached Tails and wrapped him into a gentle hug. He began to sob onto her shoulder, Amy herself let a tear escape from her eyes.

"We will get her back." she assured. Sonic remained silent and still.

"I'm sorry." Tails whispered.

Night eventually fell onto the town, covering the sky in a starry filled robe. Tails eyes finally grew weary and his eyelids heavy. At last the little fox was given sleep upon him. But within his dreams...a horrific scene was taking place, well not at first.

A sweet, beautiful sounding voice was calling his name softly. How he missed that voice; he slowly awoke and found himself laying in a field of flowers the color of the rainbow.

"Wha-?" Tails began but was interrupted when he heard a shout.

"Tails!"

He looked up just in time to see Cosmo running to him, about to embrace him. He jumped to his feet and opened his arms wide, welcoming her into him. Cosmo ran full speed, her heart thudding like crazy at the sight of her love. She flung her arms around him and hugged him tightly, Tails hugged her just as tightly but fell backwards bringing Cosmo down with him. The soft flowers broke their fall.

"Oh Tails! I've missed you so much!"

"Cosmo, I feared I'd never see you again! I-I've missed you too."

They separated their hug but their arms remained wrapped around one another. Tails looked up into Cosmo's eyes, not daring to look away from her eyes even for the slightest second. She smiled warmly at him, he returned the smile.

"How?" was all Tails could manage to say. Cosmo giggled brightly and answered, "In dreams we can connect and see each other. Right now we are both asleep so that allows us to be with each other."

Tails face fell as he began to realize what she was explaining.

"What's wrong Tails?" she asked, her face filled with confusion. Tails reached a hand up to her cheek and stroked it gently.

"So...none of this is real? When I wake up...you won't be with me?"

Cosmo shook her head sadly, "No...this connection only works if one of us is asleep or if we're both asleep."

She placed a hand over Tails' and smiled softly. Tails closed his eyes and held her closer to him, his hand remained on her cheek. But his face was no longer a gentle, happy one. Instead his face grew stern, almost sad.

"Where are you? Where did Tom take you?"

"He has taken me to...a dark place somewhere at the far end of Mystic Ruins."

Tails opened his eyes and gazed into her eyes, trying hard to find out what place she meant.

"I will find you and save you." he promised her. Cosmo placed her hands softly on both sides of Tails' muzzle and took his face into her hands. All Tails could see was her fragile face and her gorgeous eyes. His heart began to race as she inched her face closer to his.

"I know you will...I believe in you Tails."

"Cosmo I have to tell you something....I-" Tails started but felt a sudden strong wind blow by him. He tightened his grip on Cosmo as the strong winds blew by them again and again. Each wind stronger then the previous one. Tails had to yell in order for Cosmo to hear him.

"What's going on?"

"We are waking up!" Cosmo hollered. She was slowly sliding away from Tails, his grip was no match for the winds.

"No please! Not yet!" Tails wailed. A strong wind blew Cosmo off her feet and into the air. Tails dug his heels into the dirt and held firmly onto her wrists. The wind was blowing his bangs all over his face and Cosmo's hair was wildly waving in her face. Tails gritted his teeth together and with all his strength tried to keep both him and Cosmo on the ground. One of Cosmo's hand slipped out of Tails', he quickly grabbed her hand with both of his. But the winds were just too strong. She flew out of his hands and up into the air.

"NO!!" Tails screamed as he watched her fly away with the wind. He awoke and nearly jumped out of his bed. Tails shook his head and let a tear escape his eye.

"I didn't even get a chance to tell her...that I love her." he whispered sadly. His ears began to twitch as he overheard Sonic and Amy talking in the room next door.
