"How could you?" the lady of the west demanded, but she knew that he could and he did.

The Inu no Taisho, great lord of the west, caught her by the wrist as she tried to push past him. "I'm sorry…" He smiled sadly at her.

"No you're not! If you were you… you never would have done that!" Her anger flared up around them like a living thing. She felt her resolve faltering, however; her irritation with him fading fast as he smiled at her. Was that how he caught you, pitiful human? With honeyed words and a silvery smile?
