Reid groaned and rolled over as his head throbbed. He sighed as he opened his eyes, only to close them again from the bright light coming from the open windows. He took a deep breath before propping himself up with his elbow. He blinked a few times, his eyes adjusting to the light. When his eyes focused he noticed a note, folded in half on the windowsill.
He groaned again, rubbing his temple as he sung his legs around and placed his feet on the ground. He leant forward, lifting himself off the bed slightly, and took the letter off the windowsill. He smiled as he unfolded it and recognised the handwriting.
Sorry I couldn't be there when you woke up. Work. Sure you understand. You look so cute in sleep.
He chuckled softly as he placed the letter on his bedside table before noticing his alarm clock. He picked it up and looked at the time.
"Shit." He swore, jumping up and walking over to his wardrobe. He quickly fished through the messy wardrobe, before settling on a simple white and brown shirt and brown pants. He quickly pulled them on. He quickly tugged on his pants as his phone vibrated. He rolled his eyes and he walked over to his bedside table and glanced at the Caller ID.
"Prentiss?" He asked, confused as he flipped his phone open and held the phone to his ear. He quickly walked back to the wardrobe and pulled out his brown lace-up boots. He hopped around the room trying to pull them on, with his phone balanced between his ear and shoulder.
"Sorry." She said, as he gathered up his brown satchel bag and an apple as he walked into the kitchen. "I wouldn't be calling but Hotch thought we should ask for your opinion." Reid frowned as he walked out his front door.
"My opinion on what?" He asked, locking the door, his phone still placed delicately between his ear and shoulder.
"We think our UnSub's a begrudged med student." She replied. Reid nodded and walked toward the stairs. "We were wondering if you could offer us some insight." She finally said.
"Insight?" He asked.
"Yeah." She said, hesitantly. "Would you be able to meet us for lunch later?" She asked.
"As long as it's not another attempt to get me to return to the BAU, I'll see what I can do." He replied. He heard her take a deep breath.
"Reid we-" She started.
"Prentiss, it's okay." He said, cutting her off. "I get it. But can we hold back on the lectures today?" He asked. There was silence on the other end.
"Sure." She finally said. "See you at lunch." She said. He sighed as he snapped his phone shut and slipped it into his bag.

"You're late." Daniels immediately said as Reid walked into the lounge, which also held the lockers. He walked to his locker, which was a few lockers to the right of Daniels' locker.
"I know." Reid said, putting in his locker combination and opening the locker door.
"What's her name?" He asked, grinning over his shoulder at Nurse Jamie, standing to the left of Daniels by her locker a few metres away.
"Why do you assume I was with someone?" He asked, taking off his bag and placing it in his locker. He saw Daniels glance at Jamie out of the corner of his eye.
"You're late and you look like crap." Daniels replied as Reid pulled his white medical coat on.
"I could just be hung-over." He said, hanging his stethoscope around his neck. Daniels chuckled.
"Yeah. And you could've acquired that hangover in the company of a lady." Daniels smirked as the two slammed their lockers shut.
"Lady?" Reid asked, turning to Daniels.
"Fine. Young woman then." He said, smiling at Jamie.
"Speaking of hangovers, you organised something with Morgan yet?" Reid asked, looking over Daniels' shoulder at Jamie. She blushed.
"Maybe." She said, leaning the way to the door.
"Maybe? What you aren't sure?" Daniels asked as the trio walked out of the lounge.
"Dr. Reid?" Reid turned to see Dr. Cassidy waiting by the lounge door for him. He walked over to her.
"Is there something I can help you with?" He asked politely, smiling. She nodded.
"It's about Mr. Will." She replied. He frowned. "I'm sorry Dr. Reid, he died last night."
"What happened?" He asked.
"He went into cardiac arrest last night, approximately midnight." She replied. He nodded.
"Thank you Dr. Cassidy." He said, nodding and turning away, pulling out his mobile as he did so.
"Prentiss?" He asked, dialling the fifth number on speed dial.
"Reid. Is something wrong?" She asked. He took a deep breath.
"Yes. I'm sorry. Will died last night. He went into cardiac arrest and the code team were unable to save him."
"Oh." There was silence.
"Are we still on for lunch?" Reid asked, looking around to see if anybody was listening.
"Ah, sure." Prentiss finally replied. "Call when you're on break and I'll swing by and pick you up."
"We have to stay close to the hospital though." Reid warned.
"Of course." Prentiss said. Reid glanced up at the nurse's station, where Daniels and Jamie were watching.
"See you soon then." Reid said, snapping his phone shut and walking to the nurse's station.
"That your date from last night?" Daniels asked, smirking. Reid rolled his eyes and walked to the centre of the nurse's station.
"How do we even know it's a 'lady'?" Jamie asked, smiling. Reid raised his eyebrows at the two.
"Okay, we had a few drinks. Now leave it alone." Reid said, sighing.
"So it is a woman." Daniels said, glancing at Jamie. Reid glared at him.
"No, it's a monkey." Reid said sarcastically.
"Well that's certainly an improvement on Daniels' past dates." The trio spun around to Dr. Hines, their boss.
"Boss." Reid said, nodding.
"My dates all had average IQs." Daniels said defensively.
"So how'd you manage to date someone with a higher IQ than you?" Reid asked, taking the coffee Dr. Hines handed to him in a takeaway cup. Daniels stuck his tongue out at him.
"Mature." Dr. Hines muttered.
"Anything interesting today, boss?" Reid asked.
"Three abdominal pains, one leg pain, one fish hook in foot, one barbed wire in hand and a dog bite." She replied.
"Barbed wire." Reid immediately said. Daniels groaned. "And the fish hook and dog bite." He added, glancing at Dr. Hines. She nodded, repressing a smile and handed him the three charts.
"Man, you are so mean. Leaving me with abdominal and leg pain." He moaned. Dr. Hines leant over and passed him his four charts.
"You can collaborate on the leg pain if you want." She added, grinning as she walked to the waiting room.
"See ya." Reid said, walking out of the nurse's station and glancing down at the first chart in his pile.
"Jamie, wanna help?" Reid heard Daniels ask Jamie. She laughed.
"Yeah right." She replied, following Reid.
"Bored of abdominal pains?" Reid asked, glancing up at her. She shook her head and took the first chart off his pile.
"No." She said. "He's been going on about your old friends non-stop. So annoying." She replied. Reid rolled his eyes.
"What's he been saying?" Reid asked curiously. Jamie smiled.
"Mostly how hot Prentiss is." She replied, finally reaching the door to Exam 4.
"Mr. Matt?" Reid asked, walking into the room with Jamie following.
"That's me." The man, dressed in black pants and a white top and sitting on the nearest hospital bed, said.
"I'm Dr. Reid and this is Nurse Jamie." Reid said, gesturing at Jamie. "What's the problem?" He asked, walking over to the man's bed.
The man glanced at the woman standing next to his bed, holding his hand.
"I stood on a fish hook on a fishing trip yesterday. My wife here thought I should come and see you." He replied. Reid nodded, and held his right leg up slightly to see the bandages wrapped around his foot more clearly.
"I was worried about infection." She said, smiling at her husband. "He had an infection in his leg earlier in the year." She added.
"I'll give you some antibiotics then." Reid said and nodded at Jamie, who made a note on the chart she held. "Who wrapped this? Whoever it was did a good job." Reid said, starting to unwrap the bandage around his foot.
"I did. I used to be a nurse at a clinic near our old home." She replied nervously. Reid glanced up at her, before returning to the bandage.
"Dr. Reid?" Reid turned to Nurse Jacque, who held the door open slightly, looking through. "Phone call." She said. He nodded.
"Jamie could you please finish unwrapping this and get started cleaning the wound?" He asked politely. She nodded.
"Sure thing Doc." She said, walking around to the patient's right leg.
"Line three." Jacque said as Reid made his way to the nurse's station.
"Thank you." He said, picking up the phone and holding it to his ear. He quickly hit the button for line three.
"Reid here." He answered. He heard laughter on the other end. He frowned.
"I thought it was Dr. Reid." He grinned.
"It is." He said.
"Get my note?" She asked, a smile in her voice.
"Yes. Didn't I give you my mobile number?" He asked, lowering his voice slightly.
"No." She replied. He heard her take a bite from something.
"Are you eating?" He asked, frowning. "Anyway, how'd you figure out where I worked?" She laughed again. God he loved that laugh. He hadn't heard a laugh like that in a long time.
"Yes, I am eating. I'm having breakfast." She replied. He opened his mouth to say something. "I've been working all morning." She said defensively.
"Okay. That explains that but how'd you-"
"You have a coffee cup from the hospital." She said. "I figured you must work there or something since it's new and you wouldn't randomly have a coffee cup from a hospital."
"So you decided to just call and hope for the best?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Are you angry?" She asked. He smiled.
"No, of course not." His voice softened. "What are you doing tonight?" He asked.
"I'm actually flying to Chicago for work." She replied. He sighed. He knew exactly what that felt like. "But let's do something as soon as I get back." She added quickly.
"Sure." Reid said.
"Come on, they're waiting." Reid frowned. The person in the back ground sounded a lot like Morgan.
"Sorry." She said, turning back to the phone after having talked to someone in the background. "I have to go, we're leaving now. Talk to you as soon as I get back." She said.
"See you soon."
