III. Zedd

The great wizard was lonely. His grandson walked with the Mother Confessor, and while he did not approve of their love at first, especially on this quest, Zedd saw the way Richard's eyes lit up when he talked to Kahlan, and the secret smiles she gave him in return. They were in their own little world, and so Zedd walked alone.

Until Cara came along, that is.

He didn't initially trust the Mord-Sith. After all, what sane person would? But as time passed, the Mord-Sith became his companion. He chattered incessantly to her of his favorite foods, and told her his complaints that the travel fare was not up to par, and taught her of various herbs to improve the said unsatisfactory food. Cara usually rolled her eyes at this, and only replied with a snide comment or grunt, but Zedd didn't mind. After all, it was better than talking to himself! Talking to Cara was almost as good as talking to Clara, he thought. Though he would never tell her that. He didn't want to know what would happen to him if the Mord-Sith knew he was comparing her to a chicken.
