Chapter 6: Into the Enemy's Den
Hermione's mouth hung open. She goggled at her friend, unable to believe what she was hearing. How could he trust him! After everything he did last year!
Hermione held her tongue, but yearned to protest. Whatever Harry may have decided, she still did not trust Draco.
Ron evidently felt the same way as Hermione, which Draco could tell by the piercing stare that the Weasley was giving him. Draco determinedly avoided meeting his gaze, his eyes resting instead on Harry, who seemed to be making all of the decisions singlehandedly.
"Alright, back to sleep, then," commanded Harry. "Hermione and I can share the watch."
Draco nodded and followed the group back to the tent. Great, now I'll have to be a murderer and a traitor. The thought bothered him until he remembered exactly why he was doing this and focused only on his reason. It'll save the Malfoy family. I can do this.
When they reached the tent, Draco was surprised at how spacious it was. He knew it must be magically enlarged, but was still shocked that they each had so much room. Even with four of them, they could all fit in comfortably, and had more than enough room to sleep.
Ron spared Draco another dirty glance before collapsing on the sleeping bag that was evidently his.
"You can grab the spare blanket and sleep over there," Harry told him, indicating an empty section of the tent. Draco nodded and did as he was asked. The last thing Draco saw before drifting off to sleep was Harry and Hermione sitting silently at the mouth of the tent, staring into the darkness. Watching out for people that want to bring them to Voldemort. Thought Draco. Isn't it strange that they're standing guard in the wrong direction. If they want to find one of those people, all they have to do is turn around.
