Chapter 2: Being Claimed
Later that day I learned that this was a camp for people who were born with one god or goddess as a parent. Also the girl Annabeth was giving me a tour around the camp.
She showed me the cabins and the big house first. The cabins were in the shape of a U and they each were different. I asked her which one I would be in and she said that I would probably be claimed later that evening.
So then we set off to the campfire and sat down to eat. I was just about to take a bite when that really cute guy who I was talking about stopped in front of me and said that we shouldn't eat before we offer some to the gods.
I figured that meant we just throw food in the fire. It turns out I was right. So I tossed some food in wishing someone would claim me. Then all of a sudden sunflowers started growing out of the ground around my feet. Then a giant cornucopia sprung out of the ground in front of me. By the time I finally realized what was happening everything disappeared.
The centaur came over to me and said,"do not fear for my name is Chiron and I will tell you what just happened if you follow me."
So I followed him into the big house and he said that I had just been claimed by the goddess Demeter. She has always been my favorite goddess, but I never imagined her being my mom!
When I joined everybody back at dinner, I sat at the Demeter table. Everybody was nice except this one girl named Abby. It turned out she was a new girl and she liked all the attention. She got really mad at me because she thought I didn't belong in the Demeter cabin and said that I should go back to the 'world' that I came from.
At dinner I also saw the dark haired boy staring at that Annabeth a lot! That made me mad!
