Strangers at the Pool
By CastielLovesDean
A/N: Written for Kyatariina for the 75th review of Cas's Logical Sequel. Dean and Castiel go to a pool for fun and relaxation. Dean gets jealous when someone else shows interest in Castiel. Set some time during season 5. Established Destiel.
Dean didn't know why he thought leaving the swimsuit-clad Castiel by himself at a public pool while Dean got them a couple sodas was a good idea. Cas was just as mysterious and ethereal in a pair of black and tan trunks as he was in his black and tan suit and trench coat. In hindsight, it didn't surprise him when he came back to their borrowed lawn chairs to find a handsome young man sitting on Dean's chair, leaning heavily toward the aloof Angel, talking animatedly about something.
Jealousy bubbled up in the pit of his stomach along with protectiveness; Cas surely couldn't tell the man was hitting on him. He was laying it on thick, too – he was batting his eyelashes and flashing a brilliant smile... he looked like he was working up to touching Dean's Angel. Well, that wouldn't happen – not if Dean had anything to say about it. When Dean got to them, he stepped directly between them and handed Cas his soda, his back to the stranger. "Here's your soda, sweetie pie," he enunciated slowly and loudly so the stranger couldn't possibly miss it. He used the fact that the man was in his chair as an excuse to turn around and sit on Castiel, then, despite the gawks from onlooking civilians, kissed him firmly on the lips. Finally, he turned his attention to the stranger. Knowing Cas couldn't see his face from his position, he gave the man his most murderous glare – the one usually reserved for bad guys and Gabriel – and asked with a warmth that belied his expression, "Who's your friend?"
"Dean, this is Andrew. Andrew, this is Dean."
Dean offered a predatory smile and extended his hand. "Nice to meet you," he lied. When Andrew nervously accepted his handshake, Dean made sure to squeeze until the young man winced.
"Yeah," Andrew hesitantly agreed. He coddled his hand when Dean let him have it back. "Look, I should go. My friends are expecting me back, so..."
"It's probably for the best," Dean pointed out, making sure to not-too-subtly touch Castiel's exposed skin with his free hand. Dean continued to scowl at Andrew's retreating form until he turned a corner and was out of sight. Once he was gone, Dean got up and sat down in his own chair without so much as a glance at Castiel, who was obliviously sipping his own straw. He saw a young woman staring at him and Castiel. "Can I help you?" he shouted at her. She blushed and stopped staring. Finally, he looked at Cas, who returned his obscure gaze. "Remind me never to leave you alone in public."
Fin.
