Two weeks later Kate and I found ourselves in the room between mine and what used to be Ashley's. My old sitting room was going to be the nursery for the newcomers. We were looking at the now empty room thinking about how to fit everything in the room that was going to be needed. It was possible but how to fit it so it could be accessible from both sides of the room. I turned to Kate and smiled.
"Kate, let's put the cribs side by side, on this wall." I looked at her as she thought about it then she smiled.
"Yes that would work then put the corresponding things across the room from the cribs. Put the rockers in that corner and everything else will fall into place!" She said excitedly. I nodded and looked around the room; I could imagine it filled with everything needed for three newborns. The room was certainly big enough even for them to have room to play when they were older. With the layout decided we headed off to finish the paperwork for the day.
"Kate, did you notice that when you announce that you are pregnant, suddenly you can't look after yourself, Will has decided that I can't be alone during the day, his hovering is going to drive me insane!" I said after getting through the first stack of papers for the network. Since Will and Henry had been told we were not to lift a thing. Kate sighed and nodded in agreement. I stood up and moved the stack of files to the box with files that had already been completed.
A few hours later, I was sitting in the library doing some research on the nubbins. It was relaxing and I enjoyed trying to learn everything about them in my spare time which was considerably more now. The knock rang through the mansion. Setting my book face down on the coffee table I exited the library and made my way across the foyer to the door. I opened it to see Ally smiling with two sets of yoga equipment.
"Hello Ally, have you come to torture me and Kate more?" I smiled letting her into the house. She grinned and shook her head.
"Not torture, however I am stealing you away for the rest of the day. Ally stared me down with the 'I'm your doctor and you obey my orders or else look' I frowned going through my schedule mentally. Today was our first prenatal yoga class.
"The gym will be fine." I said. We walked toward my rooms so that I could get my workout clothes. I opened the door to find Kate asleep on the couch. I smiled and gently shook her shoulder.
"Kate, it's time for our first yoga class, Ally is here, get your clothes and meet us in the gym." I said. Kate opened her eyes and looked at Ally and then me. She smiled and left to get her clothes.
Two hours later I was finished with yoga and made my way to my rooms. I walked through the doors of the front sitting room closed them behind me and left a trail of clothes to the en suite. Fifteen minutes later I was retracing my steps gathering the trail of clothes and putting them in the hamper. I then proceeded to climb into bed and sleep for the rest of the day and night.
Two months later…
I had thought that I was unusually tired when I was pregnant with Ashley. That was nothing compared to this pregnancy, if I wasn't nauseous I was hungry, I was either content or screaming my head off, and I was either awake or asleep. There were no in-between at all. At four and a half months pregnant I was larger than normal because of the babies. It was beyond frustrating. I had already swapped to maternity clothes full time, because nothing else fit. Shopping was the only way Kate and I were allowed out of the house and we had to be together or someone threw a fit.
It was time for another ultrasound, this time it would be possible to hopefully see exactly whether I should be expecting twins or triplets. Ally and I had both tried and failed in the previous ultrasounds and checkups to clearly tell if I was expecting two or three. I was in my office ending a conference call when there was a knock on my door.
"Come in." I said. The door opened and Will came in with a tray of tea and lunch. I smiled and got up walking over to the couch and sitting down as Will placed the tray on the table.
"How are you doing today?" he smiled at me, placing a hand on my distended stomach and rubbing soothing circles. I could feel the babies but he wouldn't be able to feel them for a couple of weeks yet. I smiled putting my hand over his I leaned in and kissed him.
"Hmm, I can feel them moving and they are hyper little things, I am very hungry, and I can think of nothing except our upcoming appointment with Ally this afternoon." I smiled pulling my hand away from his and pulled two salsa and ham sandwiches onto a plate. He looked at the sandwiches with a disgusted look. I smirked knowing he didn't quite understand my new fascination with the type a sandwich.
"How in the world can you eat that?" Will looked at me. He had pulled his hand away from my stomach to let me eat. Truth be told, I didn't know why I was eating salsa and ham sandwiches, I had discovered them a few days ago whilst searching for a mayo substitute, I fell in love with the taste and had eaten them every day since.
"I like them, they taste good." I offered a bite to him. He looked skeptical. "You never know till you try." I grinned at him. He tore off a small piece and bit into it. He chewed and took in the flavors of it then smiled.
"Not bad for weird craving food." He mused reaching for the tea pot pouring me a cup. I looked at him and smiled.
"Weird craving food, says the man who puts caramel syrup and cherry juice on his mashed potatoes." I laughed at him. He looked innocent and grabbed his food from the tray. We finished in silence. He gave me a thoughtful look the bent down and grabbed my feet putting them in his lap. I looked at him with a questioning look. He shrugged and removed the heels off of my feet, they instantly felt better.
He began to massage them one at a time. I was happy and content about to fall asleep when the door bell rang. "Ugh, every time I start to bloody relax and something happens." I removed my feet and stood up. I walked out of the room leaving my shoes behind, not caring anymore whether I had them or not. Walking down the hall my irritated mood became even more irritating when a certain Serbian vampire came stalking down my hallway smirking. "Nikola, what are you doing here?" I crossed my arms over my chest and looked at him.
"Helen darling, I thought you would be happy to see your knight in shining armor?" he mock pouted. 'You think you are such a great guy Nikola, don't you?' I thought to myself. I was standing and facing him directly and I was wearing black so he didn't quite notice my baby bump.
"Nikola M. Tesla, you are most definitely NOT my knight in shining armor, I just had lunch with him. You can feel free to turn your arrogant arse around and leave though as I have some very important things going on for the next few months." I glared at him.
"Helen, Ally is waiting in the infirmary for us." Will said coming out of my office. I smiled and turned to look at him not thinking about Nikola anymore. I smiled at Will and nodded taking his hand in mine. We turned and I noticed that Nikola was staring at my midsection very pale. I smirked.
"Nikola, you look as if you have never seen a pregnant woman before. It's a terribly bad manner for one to stare as such. Now if you will excuse us, Will and I have an appointment for our babies. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you haven't forgotten where the front door is." I grinned as Will placed one hand on my back and the other entwining with my left hand walking past Nikola towards the lift. I leaned my head on Will's shoulder immensely happy.
"Helen Victoria Magnus, I never would have thought you would have another child much less with Dr. Expendable." I stopped and turned around quickly releasing my hand from Will and breaking contact with him. Glaring at Nikola I stalked down the hallway and got right in Nikolas face wrapping a hand around his throat I shoved him against the wall bodily and pinned him there lifting his feet off the ground. He suddenly looked scared and it made me feel a little better.
"You do realize that you just pissed off a pregnant immortal woman Nikola? Did you know that the last time I was pregnant the full blooded vampire that I got the Source Blood from pissed me off, he died a very painful and agonizing death. I would give you no quarter." I said in a low warning voice. My true powers were something only I knew about and I found out about them shortly after I had been betrayed by John. Nikola was very wide-eyed and pale now. I didn't care I kept Nikola pinned up against the wall waiting for him to acknowledge he had gotten my point. He nodded and I figured that was a good enough answer for me. I threw him down the hall toward the front door.
Straightening my shirt and pants I walked back towards Will with a triumphant look. Resuming my earlier position with Will we continued on to the infirmary. Upon entering the infirmary Will separated from me and went over to wait by the bed for me. I changed and returned to lay down on the bed. Ally walked over and smiled.
"Helen, how are you feeling today?" I looked up at her and shrugged. She had spread the gel over my tummy and was placing the wand so we could do a head count.
"I feel hormonal; I just threw Nikola down the main hall, literally. He pissed me off and I kind of reacted violently. If I'm not nauseous, I'm hungry, if I'm not awake I'm asleep, and I'm either happy or pissed there doesn't seem to be an in-between at the present moment."
