She was stupid. It was now a certified fact. Misty was sitting on a bench in the pouring rain waiting for someone. Deep down she knew he wouldn't come, but you couldn't blame her for at least trying. Hoping. Wishing.

He said he's come. Ash promised her (with his right hand on his cap, so it was a pretty big deal) that he would met her at the park of Cerulean City on her birthday no matter what. Being stupid she believed him.

Of course, he forgot or maybe never really meant it either way he wasn't there. Ash probably was in another region investing his time and energy in the only thing he really loves: Pokémon or maybe, Misty thought bitterly and not just a little jealous, maybe he was spending his time with another girl. One of his newer companions May or Dawn. Why not? They were prettier than her, girlier than her, sweeter than her. That train of thought brought tears to Misty's eyes.

The redhead bit her lip as the tears rushed down her cheeks mingling with the raindrops that kept falling all over Cerulean City.

Misty knew she had to go back to the Gym. Her sisters and her friends will start to worry if she doesn't returns soon.

But in her now nineteen years she never felt less like moving. She wanted to stay there and cry her heart along with those stupid feelings for Ash out. She wanted to stay there enough time to turn into rain.

She was being dumb and she was perfectly aware of it, thank you very much. Sighing she asked herself where was the strong and cocky gym leader? When was that Misty replaced by a pathetic weepy version of herself? It was Ash's fault. That she knew.

Misty laughed bitterly at that thought remembering those times she blamed Ash for stupid things, that sometimes she wasn't even sure were his fault and now, years later, she found herself blaming him for breaking her heart and was 100% sure it was his fault.

Another sigh. She knew she couldn't keep being like this for much longer. Nevertheless she indulged herself three more minutes of self pity. Three more minutes of tears and silent sobs.

After those 180 seconds she forced herself to stop crying and wiped away the tears. Which was actually useless because it was raining, but made her felt a bit better. She made herself stand up, feeling a little wobbly and start walking towards the Gym. Probably everyone was waiting for her to sing her "Happy Birthday" and hug her and Misty didn't wanted to deprive them from that.
