Thanks so much for the reviews. I hope you enjoyed this story.
Daisesndaffidols wanted Booth home by Christmas. I added another chapter to give us all a happier ending. I hope you like it.
I don't own Bones.
Oooooooooooooooo
Due to his injuries, Booth was forced to stay in the hospital for two weeks and the closer it got to December 25th the more anxious he became. He wanted to go home. He originally planned to decorate his house, but he knew that wasn't going to happen and that just made him sad. This was his and Brennan's first Christmas in their house and so far nothing was working out like he had planned.
During his stay, Booth had a lot of visitors while he was confined in the hospital and he appreciated the kindness everyone showed him, but he hated being sick, he hated hospitals and he hated the forced cheerfulness that everyone showed him when they visited him. He also hated that he was such a terrible patient and everyone treated him like he was a glass volcano ready to erupt at any time.

Max stayed with Booth during the day, while Brennan went home to rest and take care of a few things. She stayed with him at night since those were the worse hours for him. He dreamed terrible dreams and more than once woke up tearful over the death of the young woman in the bank. He had been unable to save her and he counted her death as a black mark against him.
After two weeks had passed, Booth was much better and one evening when she had returned to the hospital, Brennan encountered Booth's doctor walking down the hallway towards her.
Pleased to see Brennan, Dr. Sanchez stopped her in the hallway. "Dr. Brennan, just the person I wanted to see."
Dr. Sanchez was a brilliant surgeon and Brennan admired his skills. Because he needed to speak to her, Brennan stopped and let Dr. Sanchez walk up to her.
His hands in his pockets, Dr. Sanchez glanced back at the nurses station and then at her. "Well, Dr. Brennan, I've just checked on Seeley and he really has progressed to the point where I think we can talk about him going home now."
Looking down the hallway towards Booth's room, Brennan smiled. "Did you tell Booth that?"
Aware of what a terrible patient Booth was, Dr. Sanchez wasn't about to let Booth go until some ground rules were set. "No, I wanted to talk to you first. I think Seeley can go home tomorrow as long as you can assure me that he isn't going to do anything, but rest. I was just talking to him and he was saying that if I let him go home, he might have time to get some Christmas decorations up in your house. I can't let him go home if he's planning to do something like that. He almost died two weeks ago. He's just getting his strength back now."
Aware of Booth's plans, Brennan nodded her head. "You needn't worry yourself about that Dr. Sanchez. He won't be doing anything at home except resting. I can promise you that."
Not sure if Brennan could make such a promise, Dr. Sanchez removed his hands from his pockets and crossed his arms against his chest. "He seems like the kind of person who'll ignore anyone that gets in his way when he wants to do something, Dr. Brennan."
The surgeons assessment completely accurate, Brennan smiled. "Yes, that is true, but I am the kind of person who will not be ignored and neither is my father. Dad is going to be living with us for the next month so that he can help me rein in some of Booth's energy."
Relieved, Dr. Sanchez patted Brennan's arm. "In that case, Seeley can go home tomorrow morning."

Entering Booth's hospital room, Brennan saw her boyfriend sitting up in bed with his arms crossed against his chest and a stubborn look on his face.
Max, grateful that his daughter was back, looked at her and he rolled his eyes. The last few minutes had been a little tense.
Glad to see his girlfriend, Booth started making demands. "I want to go home Bones. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and there is no way I'm staying here. You have to take me home."
Walking over to Booth's bed, Brennan placed her left hand on his arm. "We'll be leaving for home around mid morning, tomorrow."
Surprised, Booth shook his head in confusion. "Wait, what? I can go home?" He had been certain that she would fight him on it not give in.
Leaning down and kissing Booth on the cheek, Brennan patted his thigh. "Yes, you can go home."
Unfolding his arms, Booth placed his left arm around his girlfriend. "Thank God. I thought I was going to miss Christmas."
Irritated, Brennan shook her head and admonished him. "Don't be ridiculous Booth. December 25th will arrive no matter where you're at." His stare boring into her, Brennan blinked. "Oh too literal."
Used to her literalness, Booth clapped his hands together. "Maybe I can decorate the living room when we get home. I still have time."
Slowly shaking her head, Brennan lifted her chin. "No . . . no you will not."
Exhaling deeply, Booth gave her a rather pathetic look. "I want a Christmas tree, Bones."
Pleased to give him some good news, Brennan squeezed his thigh and decided to tease him. "And you have one. Don't forget the one I bought for you two weeks ago. It's home and in the bedroom waiting for you."
Disgusted, Booth muttered, "A damn Charlie Brown Christmas tree."
Oooooooooooooooooooooo
The next morning, after Booth was discharged from the hospital, Brennan helped Booth get into her car. Feeling uncomfortable and still in some pain, Booth spent the entire ride home complaining about the house not being decorated. Brennan tuned him out and thought of the many things she needed to do once they got home.
After they arrived home, Booth saw four familiar cars parked in front of the house. Looking at Brennan, Booth complained. "Gee Bones. I don't want any company. I'm sick of company. I just want to be home with you and no one else. We need some us time."
Parking the car in the drive way, Brennan turned off the ignition and placed the keys in her purse. "First, you know I told you that Dad is going to be staying with us for a month. Second, your friends want to see you safe at home. Don't be such a stick in the dirt."
Since he wasn't going to win this argument, Booth decided to stop the bickering. He was home and wait . . . "That's stick in the mud."
Since he needed help, Booth waited for Brennan to walk around the car and open the passenger door. His chest muscles pulled when he stretched out his right arm and that was just one more irritant he had to live with. He just knew he was going to be stuck doing therapy during the holidays and it just made him angry when he thought about it.
Once he was out of the car, Booth carefully walked up the sidewalk, making sure he didn't walk too fast. As he approached the door, Booth saw a wreath on the front door. Surprised, he stopped, turned and looked at Brennan. "Hey a wreath. Thanks Bones."
The wreath was very pretty and it did make the door seem rather festive. "You're welcome." When Brennan arrived at the front door, she stepped passed Booth and looked at him to make he was doing okay. Grateful that he wasn't in distress, she opened the door and walked in with Booth following her into the house.
Slowly moving down the short hallway, Booth entered into the living room and stopped. Towards the back of the living room, he noticed a twelve foot Christmas tree standing in its stand. The tree was decorated with many of the decorations that he had been collecting over the years and had stored in the attic. Stunned, Booth looked at Brennan trying to understand what was going on. "How . . . when did you have time to do this . . . How . . ." Booth looked again at the tree and grinned. "Well, I'll be damned."
Laughing, the family members and friends that had wanted to be there when Booth came home suddenly stepped out of the kitchen and the office and yelled out their greetings and Christmas wishes.
He had forgot about the cars outside and blushed. As his friends approached him, Booth laughed and gave them all a sweet smile. "Life sure can be sweet. Strange but sweet."
