Chapter 9
Quidditch Training
After the story that the marauders heard from Snuffles, they left the shrieking shack and made their way down the tunnel back to the Whomping Willow. It was really dark when they reached the end of the tunnel. They climbed out of the tunnel and headed back to the Great Hall for dinner. After dinner they went back up stairs to Gryffindor Tower and by this time they were so tired after spending the whole day with Snuffles, so they went straight to bed.
They woke up just in time to get the last dregs of breakfast before the plates were cleared by the house elves. Sirius was drinking his pumpkin juice when the glass suddenly disappeared out of his hands and the contents spilt all over him and the floor.
"I think breakfast is over" he said to James.
"Yeah I agree" James said when his fork disappeared out of his hand while he was eating his bacon and eggs which then fell off his fork into his lap.
"Let's go down to our favourite spot by the lake to get out of the castle." Remus suggested.
"Yeah that sounds like a great idea, but don't we need to practice Quidditch." James replied
"When do you think the traitor will be out of hospital?" Sirius asked Remus.
"I went to see him on Friday, and Madam Pomfrey wasn't sure when you would be well enough to come out of hospital, but I am pretty sure he will be out sooner than we think. And also James we can't practice until Peter has come out of hospital." Remus replied to Sirius whilst running down the stairs.
"Well if he comes out today he'll just have to come and find us, won't he." James said as he fells head first down the stairs into Professor McGonagall.
"James Potter, what are you doing?" Professor McGonagall asked him as she was pulling him to his feet with her wand.
We were on our way to sit under the big beach tree." James replied.
"What are you lot going to be doing down there by the lake Mr Potter, I DON'T trust anything that you 2 do together Mr Potter and Mr Black. I do believe that you get into so much trouble when you are both together. I put you Mr Lupin in complete charge of them because Miss Evans isn't here to teach them a lesson or 2." Professor McGonagall said.
"I am always in complete charge." Lupin replied.
"I hope so, have a good day. And remember I have warned you and if I here any trouble there will be severe consequences." Professor McGonagall said.
"Yes Professor McGonagall." James and Sirius chanted together.
They marched off to the giant tree by the lake. James and Sirius were singing very loudly in bad voices that could break all the windows into small pieces.
"Can you please stop singing your hurting my ears?" Remus said with his hands over his ears.
"Sorry Moony." James and Sirius said together.
They continued to walk down to the giant tree.
"Race you!" James shouted as he started to run
"Hey no fair, you cheated." Sirius shouted to James as he started to chase after him.
Remus chased them both down the hill, when he got even with them he trip Sirius and then pushed James over. He reached the tree first.
"Hey you cheated even more than James, Remus" Sirius shouted climbing out of the lake.
"Hey that's not very nice Sirius" James said climbing out of the lake after Sirius.
"Well sometimes James the truth can hurt"
"Ha ha ha very funny"
"Well it is true though"
Peter turned up an hour later.
"Hey guys." Peter said
"Hey Peter" Remus said. James and Sirius just waved at him.
"So what are you all doing?" asked Peter
"Well I'm reading, James is playing with his snitch and Sirius is well, being Sirius." Remus said giving Sirius a smirk.
"Hey!" Sirius retorted
"Any ways sit down with us Peter." Remus said
James just thought of something "We need to practise for the Quidditch game this weekend against Harry and his friends. We need a lot of work so what days can you lot practise on, because we really suck at our positions." James said while he was messing his hair up.
"Yes we should practise I think that tonight would be good, so we can kick their sorry little buts to hell." Sirius said in a tone of triumph.
After James and Sirius's little speech they headed up to the common room and think up plans of attack for the game.
"I guess we can play pranks on Slytherin during the week just for fun." James said laughing.
"Hey yeah, that would be fun"
"I know"
"Hey heres an idea, we could hex Snivellus's clothes to be a pink tutu and sing I'm a little teapot." Sirius said
"And we can get him asked Professor Dumbledore to marry him." James added to the idea.
"Hang on James we can't do that last bit because that is illegal."
"PITTY"
Remus and Peter looked at each other and shook their heads.
"Aren't we supposed to be planning the match against Harry and his friends, James?" Remus said as he read his book.
"Don't worried Remus, I have everything planned out, then I will tell you the plan on our down to the Quidditch Pitch" James said.
"Why do we have to go to the Quidditch Pitch" Peter asked.
"Because we have to practise so we can beat Harry's team."
James got up from his favourite chair by the fire. He headed up to his dormitory to his trunk which was under his bed away from view to grab his broom. He headed back down stairs to meet up with his friends so that they could go down to the Quidditch Pitch to train for their big match against Harry and his friends.
"Idiots!" Remus muttered while walking down the stairs.
When they reached the pitch James explained what they were going to learn this week.
"Okay Peter, we are going to teach you how to be a goalie." James stated
"You're what" Peter replied.
"We are going to help you become a great keeper, Peter." James said sweetly.
"I heard that, but why do I have to play keeper again for." Peter stated rudely.
"Because you aren't fast enough to play seeker and well me and James are specialised in our positions." Sirius interrupted.
"So" Peter said with tears running down his face.
"Just get on your broom and stop complaining, TRAITOR." James yelled getting impatient.
"Why do you keep calling me a traitor James?" Peter asked James while he was wiping his face with his sleeve.
"Oh no reason." James replied.
"Can we please just get started I want to be up for dinner you know." Remus said out of no-where.
They got onto their brooms and kicked off the ground.
"Okay Peter, we're going to throw some quaffles at you. So try and stop as many as you can."
"l can't do this."
"You should have some confidence Peter." James stated
James and Sirius started to pass the quaffle between them, James made a fake trow to the left when he actually trow it to the right. Peter saved it and he through it towards Remus started to fly around with the quaffle in his hand and he passed it to James then James passed it back to Remus. Remus made a faked right turn but he passed it to Sirius. Sirius shoots and he scores.
"I'm the man!" Sirius shouted and started to dance in air.
"Oh, shut up Sirius." James said in annoyed voice "Peter, we still need to work on that. But now we need help Remus catch the snitch before Harry can, well you saw how good Harry is he doesn't muck around when he sees the snitch. Remus that is what you need to learn."
James flew to the ground and got the snitch out of the crate, he then stuck it into his pocket and flew to catch up with Remus
"Okay Remus, closed your eyes..." Remus closed his eyes as he was told. "Imagine you are the snitch."
"Are you kidding me?" Remus said, while Sirius and Peter were laughing their heads off in the background. All of a sudden they heard a big splash. Sirius was laughing that hard he fell of his broom into the lake.
"Now that was funny" Remus said laughing.
"No, I'm not joking Remus." James said, "Now close you eyes."
"Do I have to" Remus said.
"Yes, now imagine you are the snitch flying through the air. Remember be one with the snitch." James said
"This is stupid." Remus muttered to himself so that no one else could he hear him.
"What did you say Moony?" asked James in a serious voice
"Nothing, your highness!" Remus replied.
"Flap your hands like the snitch's wings." James told Remus
Remus started to flap his arms up and down in the air. He nearly fell of his broom but he quickly grabbed the handle of his broom to stop himself.
"James I'm not doing this any more." As flew down to the ground and hoped of his broom and started to head back up to the castle.
"Fine! Just leave us here Remus." James said angrily "anyway Sirius and Peter lets head up we practice without the whole team." As James flew to the ground and jumped off his broom.
Sirius followed James down to the ground and hoped of his broom.
Peter was about to get off his broom when he tripped over his feet and went face first into the mud and skidded 20 metres a long the pitch into James's feet.
"I didn't think that you worshipped James that much Peter" Sirius said laughing.
"I DON'T WORSHIP him Sirius; he is just a good friend"
"I think your next lesson is how to land without falling off your broom, because it is terribly embarrassing for us. Well we had better catch up with Remus."
James and Sirius jumped onto their brooms and flew up to where Remus was walking.
"Hey Remus stop we want to talk to you" James said flying past and landing next to him.
"Well, I don't want to talk to you. Why did you do that for, it totally embarrassed me." Remus replied.
"I'm sorry, I was only trying to help you catch the snitch and get your mind on what you were meant to be doing." James said sounding sad.
"Whatever!" Remus replied storming off into the great hall for dinner.
"Fine, be that way, Moony." James said climbing back onto his broom and flying away around the castle.
"Remus looks what you have done; now James is going to be cranky for the rest of the day and night." Sirius stated yelled climbing off his broom and chased him into the castle.
"I don't want to talk to any of you. You and Peter were even meaner than James was, At least James apologised for doing what he did and you just told me that he was going to be in a cranky mood for the rest of the day, thanks a lot Sirius." Remus said smacking him over the head and running away into the hall.
