Ch.8
*Deidara's POV*
"Hi, Mikoto, sorry to bother you. My name is Deidara Namikaze…I'm calling from the company that recently had your sons in one of the magazine shoots with my younger brother and myself?"
"Ah, yes. I remember that. The pictures came back fantastic. You did nice work with them." "Thank you, very much, un. I believe you met my dad at one of his meetings with Fugaku Uchiha, un…?"
"Minato... Correct? I remember, yes."
"I was actually wondering if I could speak to Itachi about several layouts and future pages? And my father, un, was hoping to speak to Sasuke about a project being done by my younger brother, Naruto." "Oh, um, yes. Itachi is…just in the other room. What do you need with the two of them?"
"My father would love to see the work that would be done with Sasuke and Naruto's minds put together. I personally think it would help to smooth over the transition between the companies…And Itachi is aware of the details we need to go over, un." I heard a shuffling noise, as if a door was slid open, and a muffled yell.
"Itachi will be at the phone is just a moment, Namikaze-san." I groaned slightly at the formality, before hearing Mikoto set the phone down somewhere.
"Itachi, the ph-phone is f-for you. It's-"
"Deidara, I know. Give me the phone. And you need to speak to father, because for once, he won't listen to me." I heard a shout, and Mikoto's higher voice join the previous yelling I had heard earlier. Another shuffling sounded, signaling Itachi's entrance to the room where Mikoto had set the phone down in.
"Deidara…this isn't the right time for this conversation." I groaned, shaking my head.
"Itachi, un, it will never be the right time. If it doesn't happen now, it-"
"-won't ever. I know…" Itachi sighed, and I could hear him walking along a hallway, presumably outside, from the quiet pitter-patter of rain in the background.
"Deidara…look….let's get everything sorted through with our fathers first. And don't say that it's impossible, because I promised you, that I would do anything. Even if it means telling Dad to man up and deal with his own problems." I let out a shaky breath, one I hadn't realized I'd been holding, and got off the couch to return to my own room.
"Itachi. That promise was made in what…high school? And seriously, it will take forever to deal all this shit out. Itachi…You know what I need. And it isn't more drama; It isn't more trouble; And it isn't more waiting. I need to talk with you. In person."
"I know, Dei. I know… Would you…do you happen to be available tonight?" I stopped walking for a moment, and my mind went blank,
"U-um…tonight? Y-yeah…I won't be able to leave the house, but I'm sure Dad won't care…he won't be home anyway…"I sighed. My dad had told Naruto and I that he'd be out tonight, and before we could ask, he told us about the pans he had made for a dinner with Fugaku tonight.
"I'll be over…soon. If I can make it out of this madhouse alive…" I chuckled lightly at his comment, before finally making it to my room, gently shutting the door. He laughed as I plopped down onto my bed, my phone flying out of my hand and hitting the wall beside my bed.
I grabbed for my phone, quickly apologizing to Itachi for dropping it in the first place.
"Try not to hurt yourself before I get there, please?" I laughed nervously, making no such promise, before he hung up.
"Well gee, Ita. Thanks for the sweet goodbye." I chucked my phone at the wall, before standing and grabbing my clothes, heading into my bathroom and preparing a shower.
