A/N: Greatly relieved this is the last chapter. Only six views combined for the last two chapters is somewhat disheartening and rather depressing for a writer... But enjoy the remainder of Burning Passion.
Reba was at the grocery store the next day when Barbara Jean walked up to her. "Hey Reba."
She looked over at her wearily, "hello Barbara Jean." Reba said coldly.
Barbara Jean looked down at the ground for a minute before she looked back up at Reba, "Brock told you what happened?"
"How you tried to get my husband to have an affair with you?" She scoffed, "yeah, he told me. My husband and I have been having some difficulties, I can't lie about that; but what I don't need is you trying to take my husband away from me. My children need their father. We are trying to work things out. I told him I didn't think you'd pose a problem for us; am I going to have to file that report against you?"
Once again, Barbara Jean looked down at the floor; but this time she couldn't look up at Reba. "I'm sorry for what happened. I don't really think I was thinking about everything that happened. I'm sorry for trying to take Brock away from you Reba." Reluctantly she looked up and faced her, "I'm going to leave both of you alone from now on. I won't be going into Brock's office for anything; and I won't be bothering you in public anymore." She sighed. "As a matter of fact, I'm thinking about moving to Little Rock to pursue a career as a weather girl."
"WHAT?" Reba exclaimed with a laugh. "You want to be a weather girl?"
Barbara Jean nodded, "I think it'd be a good career for me. It could really work for me. It'd get me away from here and I might be able to find myself."
"Find yourself? Aren't you already found?" Reba questioned.
Barbara Jean laughed uncomfortably, "maybe so; but I still need to get out of here."
"I think that would be best for everybody involved." Reba replied.
When Reba got home and started putting the groceries away, she saw Brock at the kitchen table with Jake.
"Hey Jake, why don't you go upstairs for a little while?"
"What if I don't want to?"
"Go on son," Brock patted his arm. "I'll go talk to you later." Jake walked out of the room and Brock stood up and walked over to the counter. "What's going on?"
"I saw Barbara Jean at the store."
"What'd she say?" He asked wearily.
"She apologized for what she did. I'm not sure how long it would take to actually forgive her for it, but she did apologize. Then she told me about her next career plans."
Brock laughed, "what's that?"
"She wants to go to Little Rock, Arkansas and be a weather girl."
He fell into a chair at the counter as he laughed, "she wants to be a weather girl?"
"Brock! Come on, she's serious about it."
He shook his head, "I really feel bad for the station she ends up working for."
"Be serious. She was excited about this," she paused. "So everything is good with us?"
"Of course. We've got it, we've always had things together and we'll continue to do so."
"Then that's all that matters." She walked around the counter and kissed him. "I'm glad that we've sorted all of this out. I was worried about things, but when I realized that what happened wasn't real, I felt so much better."
"I'm glad." Brock replied and squeezed her hand, "I love you. I'm glad you finally realized I'm always there for you and that I'm not doing what you think I'm doing. Everything's going to work just fine."
Not the best way to end, but nice enough... The End :)
