A/N – Blossom-chan is back and today I think I might just get on with it this time. Please review!

Oh and by the way, I no next to nothing about clubs and I've done minimal (no) research so don't be surprised if everything is wrong and don't be I afraid to correct me, I like that.

I have a shocking keyboard okay, so sorry for mistakes and whatnot. Case Closed references.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the Case Closed/Detective Conan or Avatar cast.

They belong to Gosho Aoyama-sama and Michael Dante DiMartino
Bryan Konietzko respectively.

Toph wasn't nervous. Oh No, Toph wasn't nervous. She knew this was the dojo's first meet up of the year, although November was pretty late to start. Correction, it was extremely late, these guys had no idea what they were doing.

Toph loved martial arts. Mostly because of the competitions and sparring. It was amazing, she could beat up people get away with it and have a reasonable excuse. At competitions people would cheer because she beat someone up. Amazing.

Toph was something of a martial arts prodigy. She had been trained by a tutor in the past (greatest of his time, apparently) who was a complete sissy by the way and refused to teach her anything, so by the time she was twelve she had only mastered basic movements until she lost her bodyguards one day and hired her own guy to teach her. His name was mole, well not really he was called Gaea, name your son after the titan goddess of earth. She liked to call him Mole though because, he looked like one she'd heard several people say, so when she first met him, she'd assumed that was his name and it stuck, and he was semi-blind at the time (with extremely poor eyesight and with no ability to detect colours). Mole had the tendency to call her "little badger" too, and that's also probably where her proneness to call people by nicknames came from. By the time Toph had turned 13 she could even defeat Mole in a fight. He taught her how to see with other things than her eyes, and she was grateful.

What he taught her came in handy then they poisoned her, and took away her sight.

She had an imaginary friend once, more like a promise for the future yet to come.

Badger Mole.

She knew she'd do something with that, and she'd yet to discover a language which had words to describe the significance it held.

Toph turned to Twinkle Toes and made him get out of those ridiculous shorts and put something more decent on.

He left.

The chatter had yet to die down, and Toph centred her attention to who she assumed the leader, can you say leader? Of this club was.

Looking around she could see that most of these kids were here just for the thrill, or saw a movie and reckoned they could try that little were here that she knew would stick it out till the end, judging by their conversations, height, weight, build and everything else you can judge a person on like way they held their bodies, posture and such.

Aang was back, and out of those ridiculous shorts, might I add, and he seemed to be way too chipper for her tastes, he was a six year old, I swear.

She knew based on their soccer game, that fight on her "first day" (whatever 'first day' hmph, she was born in this town), and even just by the way he walked that he trained, she could see it in his eye. He had potential to be a good sparring partner for her, if she didn't break him that is. She smirked, spirits wasn't she the funniest! Break? Twinkles would probably snap like a twig seeing as in he probably practiced a sissy style of martial arts like Ba Gua or something.

"Attention Ladies!" screamed the instructor. Hot Pants bounced up and down beside her.

Toph could clearly see that the instructor was 18 at the most male, annoying and clearly overly confident. Well someone seemed to want to be knocked off their high horse, didn't they?

"My name's Richard Moore, but you ladies can call me Ricky." He smiled, (ugh) then gestured to the pretty periwinkle eyed brunette girl beside him giving a quick "That's my sister" not noticing she was currently scowling at him.

"Brother, you have a girlfriend already. Remember?" She said pulling his ear, momentarily forgetting where she was, then realising and blushing.

"I'm Rachel, you're other captain. Sorry for my idiot brother. We mostly teach judo, but mixed martial arts are welcomed." Rachel spoke softly briefly glaring at the uninterested Richard.

"Okay!" Richard spoke up "New kids, and unexperienced kids go with Rach. Kids who have been trained before and/or were here last year come with me."

Toph headed toward Richard, and noted that Twinkle Toes just stood at the entrance kind of. Guess he was just here to watch then. All of a sudden Richard pointed at her sharply.

"You!" He exclaimed

Toph turned to him excitedly (I do hope you're noting the sarcasm)

"What" She questioned irritably.

"What kind of training did you receive?" He asked clearly doubting she was capable of anything.

She cursed her height.

Toph debated telling him at all since her formal tutor refused to teach her anything and was a total sissy.

"I received training in the form of Hung Gar, a while ago." She answered, annoyed.

"Yeah, and how long was a while ago exactly?" He asked again, he knew about her, Bei Fong. She probably received a few lessons from some private tutor who didn't teach her anything and she thought she could just stroll into his club thinking she was the shit? Not a chance. She probably knew next to nothing and thought she was amazing because she got a few lessons.

"When I was 12" Toph said gruffly, Xin Fu stopped teaching her a while after her 12th birthday so technically, she did receive training at twelve.

"Yeah, um go over to the noobs" Richard smirked pointing at Rachel. "You've probably forgotten everything it was that long ago" He added, smug.

Oh No, he was notpulling that card.

"Looky here, Modesty, I am not going with those wannabes!" Her forest eyes glaring into his dark orbs. Anger passing between the both of them. Rachel saw animosity, and so did Aang. He prayed Toph wouldn't get kicked out in the first 15 minutes she'd been her, he didn't that aggression to be directed at him. Ever. The people in the dojo mostly school kids Aang noted had turned their attention to the shouting pair, secretly hoping for a fight.

"Sorry about Richard, what's your name?" Rachel asked Toph.

"Toph Bei Fong, keep your annoying dog," She gestured toward Richard "On a leash." She finished as she glared at him.

"Yeah Toph-Chan? Club rules are there to help you. We make the rules so you don't get hurt, come with me and I'll give you a quick refresher on self-defence okay? It alright if you're free-lance and that caused the mix-up." Rachel smiled.

Ugh, she was overly sweet, like a sugary cupcake that drowned in pink icing or something.

"Step up, cupcake and we'll see if I can take care of myself" Toph challenged.

Rachel though, was torn between seriously hitting this girl or keeping the club.

"Is that a challenge rich girl?" Richard yelled getting back into Toph's face.

"Well it sure ain't an invitation to a slumber party is it Mr. Modest?" She snarled right back at him.

Richard seriously couldn't take any more of this. Taking his stance he glared at the little rich girl in front of him as Rachel watched with anxious eyes. He knew he'd just have to show the brat that she was no match for his amazing skills and prowess and she'd have with the "wannabes" as she put them. Even though he dislike her, Richard had to agree, they really were wannabes.

Richard new this girl was at least a foot shorter than him so he had a height and weight advantage, and she also studied Hung Gar like what, years ago? Richard knew he had this in the bag.

Toph took widening her legs and bending her knees slightly. She reminded, Aang who of course was sure of the outcome of this match, of an iron wall. Toph was extremely impressive, graceful.

Richard left leg lunged forward for a sturdy kick. Toph leaned back slightly, enough so that he didn't touch her but allowed the air from the momentum of his kick to sway her bangs slightly. As Richard's foot began to descend back to the mat, Richard was left wide open and Toph seized the chance putting her foot underneath his right whilst his left foot was in mid-air, and bringing it up with her oh so powerful leg, throwing Richard off balanced as she threw a blow to his stomach, leaving him on the ground gasping for breath.

Rachel watched, impressed and berated herself for underestimating Toph, and misjudging her age.

Aang gave Toph a quick thumbs up, praising her for proving a worth and asking her if Richard was okay when she came over to him.

She just smirked and told him "I only nicked him, TT."

Rachel was helping up Richard and even though she couldn't see him, she heard the smile in his voice as he said "I like you, brat."

"Welcome to the martial arts club Toph-chan" Rachel added, smiling.

"Okay cupcake, add that honorific to my name one more time and I'll kick your butt so hard you'll come out of next week choking on your liver." Toph said returning Rachel's smile with a grin.

"Maybe one day Bei Fong" Rachel smirked.

Toph just smirked right back at her.

"I think I might enjoy this club." She said as she grinned.

The meet ended almost as soon as it started for Toph. She had really enjoyed it and gotten to spar with a kindred spirit, Zuko. He was wild like fire and kind of angry. So he was Hothead and TT had gotten to calling him Sifu Hotman since he had showed him a few moves.

Richard had been a little peeved since he wasn't an official member of the club, but TT didn't seem to care (or he was oblivious at the obvious hostility) but either way, who knew Hot Pants had it in him?

The two had left the dojo together, Twinkle Toes had insisted they do for a rematch in that soccer game the never finished, it wasn't exactly soccer it was more like they had to do everything to get the ball away from the opponent and score, the ball couldn't stop moving for 3 seconds and all limbs could be use, you had to be ruthless. It was Toph's kind of game, she enjoyed it and was good at it, so she completely massacred Hot Pants over the poor kid just couldn't handle it.

She smirked.

"Listen up, Twinkle Toes. I challenge you, we can have a formal rematch tomorrow at the playing fields in the park if you beat me with your sissy martial art" She grinned

"It is on" He smiled shaking her hand.

So that's how they ended up sparring alone, in the living room of the house Hot Pants was currently residing in with him missing a shirt.

Oh wait, that bit still hasn't been explained?

Oh well, maybe later?

Toph smiled as she walked the streets, vaguely aware she was being followed. It better not be more papparazi!

She smiled nevertheless, today was a pretty good day. Eve though she had a club meet on a Saturday

Back to the present. (The Next Day)

Katara pulled her parka. Yep the one she wanted from asos so badly, it was periwinkle with white trimmings. So pretty.

Anyways, she'd decided to give back Zuko's History book back. Apparently he lived the next street over from the park, that's good, only a 7-minute walk not too far. That meant she could go, come back within a quarter hour and since it snowed yesterday she could challenge her brother, Sokka and or maybe even Aang to that snowball fight.

Don't ask where she got the address from. Let's just say Katara knows people. Mainly her dad, Hakoda, was a law enforcer and had the means to do this, but he just wasn't at home a lot.

Katara lifted the door knocker gently thrice and waited. She didn't have to wait for long as the door opened and an elderly man opened the door. He was rounded and looked 60 at the most, with that face you associate with your favourite uncle that always makes you laugh and gives you very good tea.

"Oh hello, who might you be?" He asked smiling at Katara who the warmth from his smile and proceeded to smile back.

"I'm Katara and I'm looking for Zuko-" She started, trying to explain the situation at hand and leave the book with the man. Sorry but not today, she could almost hear the fates laughing in her head as the old man beckoned her, to which she really couldn't say no to.

"Oh Zuko eh?" He smiled.

"My name is Iroh, but you may call me uncle. Have some tea while I call down Zuko for you." Iroh suggested Iroh as he poured it in a beautiful ornate tea cup.

The aroma hit Katara's nose and she inhaled it happily as the scent alone visibly relaxed her.

"It's Jasmine Tea, made with love" Iroh joked as Katara tasted the tea. "I'm thinking of opening my own tea-shop even though nobody ever drinks tea like they do coffee anymore. But who knows? I might be as big as Starbucks one day" Iroh laughed gleefully.

"Oh Uncle that's a marvellous idea, this is simply divine" Katara praised him, humming in delight.

As Zuko descended the stairs, being lured down by an unfamiliar voice that he happened to recognise? How's that? The feminine voice called his uncle, Uncle, and it was a pretty voice too. Melodic.

Iroh spotted Zuko before Katara could, as she on the kitchen island with her back faced toward the stairs.

"Ah, Zuko" Iroh greeted him, whilst Katara tensed trying to hide behind the teacup. This was supposed to be in and out. Iroh not noticing carried on talking, to the young man at the bottom of the stairs leading into the kitchen.

"Your lady friend Katara and I were just discussing, plans for my new tea shop" Iroh informed him, laughing as Katara begin to nervously chuckle.

"Uh…" Zuko began still in a sleepy state. Maybe it was one of Azula's friends. Wait his lady friend?

"Katara?" Zuko questioned incredulously the sleep masking the disbelief in his voice, not realising he had said that aloud.

Katara blushed. She loved a good teenage boy sleepy voice. She braced herself though remembering the fight with Zuko and slowly turned around to face him.

"You" Zuko said, surprised she would come to see him after they parted on such bad terms.

"I'll just leave you two alone" Uncle said mischievously, mistaking the brief interaction between the two as something else.

Zuko looked her right in the eye, it was like the afternoon they first met. Maybe she wasn't staring at his scar after all, maybe she had been staring him in the eye then and he was too used to people judging him because of his scar to see it.

"Zuko," She began. "I came to apologise for being so rude to you yesterday, and you also dropped this" She told him, her voice soft, as she handed him his book back.

"I know it's just a school book but I wanted to give it you personally so it wouldn't get lost." She said

"Don't apologise, it was mostly my fault for being presumptuous and accusing you of judging me because of my scar. It happens a lot you see. Thank you by the way, for the book." The corners of Zuko's lips moved upwards in the ghost of a smile, you could barely call it one, and Katara knew it was more than he ever did so she would take it, and he did look quite handsome doing it.

"I was hoping we could start over, and maybe be… Friends?-If that's okay with you of course" He proposed nervous, maybe she was just being polite and didn't want to be his friend? Before Zuko could jump to anymore conclusions, Katara took his hand into hers for a shake.

"I'm Katara, I'm 16. I practice Tai Chi and I have one brother. It's very nice to meet you" She told him smiling. In that moment he knew the warmth from her smile was infinite.

"I'm Zuko. I'm 17 and I practice Shaolin. I live with my Uncle and have one sister and I go to a local dojo. Nice to meet you Katara" He told her smiling actually smiling! It was a beautiful smile and Katara did wish he would do it more often.

Reluctantly they let go of each-others hands. Katara was glad she was friends with Zuko, she knew he needed someone and she wanted to be there for him, because as much as she hated to admit it, she needed someone that wasn't her brother or Aang no matter how much she liked him.

Iroh came down from his hiding place at the top of the stairs. Maybe Katara wasn't Zuko's lady friend like he assumed, but she was good for him he knew that. He could see the spark in those two. They reminded him of how he and his wife had been.

Love is such a lovely thing. Even when the two aren't quite there yet.

Katara giggled at a blushing Zuko as she sipped more of her Jasmine. Zuko and she were going to be good friends she knew it. She had that feeling with the girl from before, Toph too. Christmas was next month, six weeks and she wanted to make amends. Maybe for another day, she mused as she suppressed a sigh to the oblivious (yet dashing) Zuko.

"You know," Zuko began as he walked Katara home, it was amazing how close they grew in just a few hours. "It never used to snow where I was from." Zuko carried on as he stared at the falling snow in semi-wonder.

"This is your first snow?" Katara asked in surprise

"Yeah" He answered, "Where I came from it was hot all the time even in winter, so we had lots of bushfires and I nicknamed it the Fire Nation when I was younger" He explained to the giggling Katara.

"What a coincidence," She told Zuko as they took a cut through the park. "My brother used to call me Katara of the Water Tribe when I was younger because I broke swimming records in public middle schools for my home town when I was 14, guess maybe we both have secret bending powers nobody knows about huh?" She laughed with him.

"Oh I dropped something" Katara faked sneakily as she secretly rolled up a snow ball in the palm of her Indigo gloved hands. She had experience, since she grew up in the great white north.

"So… Zuko" She said slowly standing up. "Since this is your first snow, I guess you've never done this" She exclaimed. Zuko directed his attention back at Katara but it was too late.

She had hit him, betrayed him with that puffy white ball of evil she had held in her hands, and now she laughed at his misery.

Zuko lay there as her eyes closed in laughter and rolled up a ball for himself. He had to be quick and powerful since his ball was small and crappy because of his lack of experience. Katara wouldn't know what had hit her. Well she couldn't miss it because it was around her and she had already targeted him with it too but, ugh, you know what he means.

The snowball hit her right in the stomach, but she never crumbled.

"Oh so that's how you went it you enemy of the Water Tribes" She joked "You Fire Nation scum, have nothing to seek here!" She shouted still laughing as they had a snowball fight underneath the night sky.

"Water Tribe peasant, I am the prince of the Fire Nation, I've come to annihilate your Tribes. Surrender Water bender!" Zuko said throwing more snow balls at her, getting better and better as they progressed.

"Never! Fire Nation rat!" Katara screamed in glee as she dodged Zuko's well-aimed but still crappy snow balls.

The carried on ran further into the park, indulging themselves in the joy that came from this simple action.

A/N- I tried to make a tiny TFIOS reference, next is a Zuko chapter I think so it might not be that long only 1.5-2k at the most it's hard to write in Zuko's POV (Sokka's too) because I don't want to make him sound too angsty or mushy and nobody ever does a good Zuko POV. I don't even know why it's wrong. STOP THE ZUKO SHAMING! I'm still thinking of the living situation. Zuko has a difficult living situation at home and I don't know what to do where it's not to cliché. I want to do a mini-series for this like Kasamari did for his "Changes" stories but would it still count as a prequel? Because I have so many ideas.

Sorry I didn't do as much Zutara interaction as I did Taang. I will try harder next time I promise. For this story Katara is also kind of difficult to do, because I started her as a kind of over-protective character, wary with new people and girls to the group, like Toph, because she's jealous of people taking her place since she's generally (apart from Suki) the only girl. I want Katara to develop well and I just hope I can do that well and show how good Zuko is for her without rushing into Zutara, I want it to be gradual since everyone's just been introduce and they get closer over the course of one year, like in the actual cartoon.

I did a 3.4k+ chapter this time I hope you enjoyed it, please review minna:3

All my love,
