Chapter 4
For The Best
It was a beautiful sunny morning and normally Starfire would smile, but today wasn't a normal day. Today was the day she would leave the Teen Titans and earth forever. It was almost as if the universe was making fun of her. Like it was saying "Haha, you have to spend the rest of your life enslaved and possible tortured meanwhile everyone else will see another beautiful day like this." But she knew that sacrificing one life would be better than sacrificing the lives of everyone she loved. Too many people would die if she had become selfish and turned down the deal.
Without another excruciating thought, Starfire got up from her bed and decided to eat the biggest breakfast, take the cleanest bath, and brush her teeth once more. It would be the last time she would have these luxuries after all.
After she finished taking her bath and brushing her teeth she picked out her outfit and brought out the black version of her outfit from the first day she landed on Earth. Memories flooded in from all of her years on this planet which caused tears to form in her eyes.
"Starfire?" The voice was muffled due to the door separating them but she didn't need to see his face to know it was him.
"Yes?" Her voice came off weak which was what she didn't intend to do.
"Well Cyborg made breakfast and everyone's there besides you."
"Oh, please give me a moment!" Starfire carried the metal armor in her hands as she looked around her room one last time. I shall miss this room.
She opened the door and came face-to-face with the Boy Wonder himself. He was looking down and seemed to be mouthing something. She knew that it would be rude to interrupt but she didn't want to waste time and wanted to be with her friends already.
"Robin?" He looked up and smiled.
"Ready?"
Starfire looked behind her and took everything in, for her memory. She turned back to Robin and said, "Ready."
The walk to the common room was quiet but that was mainly because Robin seemed to be in another world. It was as though his body was there but he wasn't. Does he care that I am going at all? Indeed, he said that he loved me but is this what love here is like? Did he pity me and say those things only for me to feel better? No, that is not the Robin I know and love.
"Starfire!" Starfire broke away from her thoughts and realized that they were in the common room already. Everyone was there and even though their faces said 'happy', their eyes read 'sad.'
"Hello friends!"
"What's up lil lady?"
"Hey Star!"
"Hi."
"Hey Starfire, sleep well?"
Starfire snuck a glance at Robin and smiled, "Very well, thank you for asking friend." She walked over to the kitchen and made her final cup of mustard tea.
"So, today's the day huh?" Beastboy decided to break the silence that was growing immensely but that only seemed to agitate the others besides Starfire.
"Mhm, today is the day." Starfire turned to see all of her friends' faces and they no longer seemed to hold in their emotions. There were tears in Raven's eyes which surprised the boys but Starfire only felt touched. She had hung out with Raven long enough to know that she chose to show her feelings for a reason. And the fact that Raven decided to show that she was sad in front of her other friends pulled a heartstring.
Trying to lighten their moods, Starfire attempted to let them see the bright side-if there was any that is. "Friends, please do not burden yourselves with this! I shall be fine and you will all be happy, if not now then in the future."
"Don't you get it Star? Now that you're leavin', things aren't going to be the same. We need you Star, Robin needs you. Isn't that right Robbie?" Normally Robin would protest and give Cyborg a punishment by making him run around the Tower-for a numerous amount of times-but today, Robin didn't care. The only thing he cared about was that the girl of his dreams was leaving him. Robin, of course, had a plan to make Starfire stay but he wished that there would somehow be a way for her to not leave him without any violence.
"It's true Starfire. I need you here, we need you to stay. Do you have any idea how much you affected our lives?" Robin stepped towards Starfire and grabbed a hold of her hand with a distraught look on his face. This look made a few tears escape from her eyes, which Robin cleared off with his gloved hand, but she nonetheless continued to try to make them see it from her point of view.
"Believe me when I say that I love you all, so very much, but please understand that it is for the best. If I did not go then everyone I love would die. I have endured what the Gordanians gave to me before and what convinces you otherwise? No, I may never see any of you again but at least I will be comforted knowing that you all will be alive and well. Please friends, there is nothing you are able to do. Now if you shall excuse me, I must do a few things to prepare myself for my departure." Starfire let go of Robin's hand and walked out of the common room. There was silence for a few seconds as everyone watched the door that she went through before Robin spoke up.
"Alright team, we all know what to do?" Beastboy and Cyborg showed a determined smile and gave a determined nod before turning to Raven.
"Rae, are you sure? I mean absolutely, positively, completely sure?" Beastboy asked and tensed as he realized his mistake. He had called her "Rae". But instead of correcting him, Raven brushed it off and replied, "Positive. If what Galfore and what my books said are right, then there should be no problem. But my question is towards Robin." She turned to face the leader of the Teen Titans and asked the same question Beastboy had presented her with.
"Robin, are you sure you can do this? It's risky." Robin, who was still facing the doors, spoke with a calm voice.
"Starfire is my world and a life without her isn't a life worth living. Wherever she's going, I'm going. But we are not staying there. I will bring her back here, to her home, where she belongs…with me. So to answer your question: yes, I am sure about this and there is no doubt in my mind."
Let me be honest, I was starting to grow out of this story and was wondering whether or not I should give up on it. It didn't interest me as much as the idea did but now that the more action-y stuff is coming, the more I realized that I was just bored with the beginning. I really wanted to get along with the story right away but I knew that I had to build it up, thus making me tired of it. I'm still not sure on how I completely feel about this story but it's a working progress. I'm not sure but I may be including another character. It really depends how into this story I am since it could make it longer. Please review, follow, fav, and all that other good stuff! I don't own anything but Warner Bros. and DC Comics do!
Always yours,

P.S. It's good to be back and sorry but this is all I got for now!
