A/N: You guys know I do this at the end but I wanted to ask you something. All my loyal reviewers and readers I ask you to please take it easy on me. I'm not great or even good at combat scenes and especially hand to hand but I am working at getting better. So I apologize beforehand if this is really rough.
Blood and Poison
Before she realized it the bell had rung and Bloody Mary had punched her in the chest. The force knocked her off her feet. She slid back into the corner and shook her head. Amanda groaned coughing she rolled on to her hands and knees.
:Amanda!:
"I'm good. Fuck where did that come from?" She gasped starting to get up. Amanda knew how to assess her opponents. And while the referee introduced them to the crowd; she had. Bloody Mary was thin and possibly quick. She wouldn't have much of a punch but could fire off a series of hits if given the chance. She could deal fast small amounts of damage but not take a lot. Then suddenly the bell rang and Amanda had lifted her head in time to see the other woman strike out.
Amanda sniffed and wiped the back of her hand across her face. Pulling her hand back she stared. Her nose was bleeding already bleeding. The screams and cheers of the crowd nearly drowned out the sound of the woman running across the matt. Twisting up quick Amanda shifted to the side and using the woman's own force buried her fist into the woman's ribs.
Bloody Mary staggered back coughing. More blood passed over her lips and stained the canvas. Amanda stood rolling her shoulders and neck. She brought her hands up rolled up onto the balls of her feet, increasing her height.
:We have to win this.: Jazz said a bit of fear echoing in his voice.
"She's not right. She shouldn't be that strong." Amanda mumbled ignoring the second presence in her head. "Speed. Way to much speed to match that strength."
Bloody Mary straightened up and came at Amanda again. This time she was ready. The woman struck out each hand twisted to look like a claw. Keeping her guard up Amanda backed up dancing around the strikes, studying them. They would come towards her straight as if to cut the air than shift to the claw.
"Some twisted form of Kung-Fu."
:What?:
"All the speed and power but none of the Zen."
:Take out the speed first.:
"Exactly." She said nodding.
Bloody Mary struck and Amanda shifted to the left bringing her arm up then her elbow down on the other woman's shoulder. Twisting around she added two quick jabs to the ribs on the same side. She turned quicker than expected to catch Amanda across the face. She spun and staggered before rubbing the spot. It was smooth and she brought her hands up but seconds later heat erupted across her cheek. Amanda groaned as the pain sunk in. Three long lines split across her cheek and blood ran freely down her face, neck and soaked into the fabric of her shirt.
Bloody Mary attacked again connecting her flat palm with Amanda's sternum. Amanda coughed as something snapped and she fell back hitting the mat hard. She coughed and sputtered blood. Her breath was short as she tried to focus with the edges of her vision turning black.
"Viper get up!" Her head dropped to the side to see Chris leaning on the canvas. His face was contorted in horror. He said something but she couldn't hear. The noise of the warehouse was gone replaced with a ringing sound or maybe the ocean. Amanda could quite remember what sound was what. Chris pounded his hand on the mat possibly shouting at her. His mouth moved but he still said nothing. She couldn't focus on him darkness edged into her vision and Amanda felt a cold chill of fear. It had finally caught her.
:Amanda!:
She opened her mouth to speak but the words didn't come out. Her mind spoke where her voice failed. "Jazz?"
:You have to get up:
"It hurts too much." She knew she was right even with the darkness moving in to take her she was in pain. Her head hurt, her cheek burned and her lungs felt heavy. She was sure that last hit had cracked something there.
:Come on kid. Think about your father, your future.:
"I'm tired."
:We all get tired kid but you can't just give up. Glyph still needs you.:
"Gl…Glyph." Amanda said spitting blood the darkness starting to drift away.
Bloody Mary turned and tipped her head confused looking at Amanda. She growled low and stalked across the mat. Kneeling over her the woman slammed her hand down onto her neck causing Amanda to gasp. Bloody Mary squeezed cutting off air flow. Amanda struggled she twisted her hand and connected with the woman's arms at the elbow. Still trying to fight out of the grip with one hand she hit Bloody Mary at three separate points on her left leg. Flesh gave in and she could fell the bone. Amanda twisted her hand. Bloody Mary face pinched in a moment of pain but it disappeared almost immediately. She brought the other hand up and struggled with the grip.
:Get your leg between you and her.:
"What?" Her mind screamed as her lungs burned. Amanda snorted as the world started to go dim again.
:Your leg. Get one between the two of you.: She tried but couldn't focus enough. Something flared in her chest and her leg moved but it felt as if someone else was moving it. Her one leg moved up forcing a gap between the two women.
:Now lift and get your foot against her than push.:
Putting the weird sensation behind her she acted as instructed. Amanda was able to put her heel in Bloody Mary's stomach. Pushing up she could feel organs move as she fought against the woman. The grip around her neck loosened for a moment then got tighter. With the space between them gave Amanda room to twist a hand up and strike several points on the chest. Pulling back her leg she snapped it back out. Organs moved and squished. Bloody Mary cried out losing her grip and Amanda pushed her off. Both fighters lay on the mat gripping at pained areas and trying to breath. Amanda was first to her feet followed by her opponent.
:You have to slowed her down.:
"I'm called Pit Viper in the ring for a reason." Amanda snapped, annoyed about being questioned, mad about being taken by surprise, and pissed off about the whole situation.
Bloody Mary stepped forward pain and confusion split across her face. Amanda shot forward and ducked low to bring her fist up with the force of her body for an upper cut. Connecting with the jaw bones gave way with a crack. Rounding with her other fist Amanda connected with the bottom of the woman's ribs. She coughed and tried to swing back when pain shot from her shoulder on one side and her elbow on the other. Amanda rounded and laid into the woman's body with a flurry of punches aimed at the woman's ribs.
Amanda didn't slow as the woman staggered. She kept in close keeping a steady rhythm of shallow upper cuts. Stepping back the woman teetered. Bringing her right fist up it connected one last time with Bloody Mar's jaw. Her head snapped back and with a groan the woman toppled back. Backing away Amanda tried to get a better breath to calm her muscles but it hurt too much. She could make out the shout for the medic.
Backing away she leaned against the ropes watching as a stocky man with graying hair hurriedly got through the ropes and knelt next to Bloody Mary. She watched as he started checking her over. He checked her pulse, her breathing, her pulse again. Amanda trembled, all anger faded. She wanted to scream. Had she killed the woman? Finally the doctor nodded and went for something in his bag. It appeared to be a neck brace.
He moved the downed woman slightly and Amanda caught her hand tightening into a fist. She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Amanda shook her head she had almost killed the woman. Anymore force in that last punch would have snapped her neck completely. Looking down at her trembling hands she wanted to cry at the amount of blood on them.
:Amanda: Jazz's voice was gentle and it felt as someone was hugging her. At least the sensation of it. Shaking her head she twisted away from the scene and carefully slid out of the ring. Chris was at her side the moment her feet touched the floor.
"That was amazing. I thought you were going to lose for a minute there but to stood up and took her down like you were supposed to." He said rambling on and grabbed her wrist. "Mr. LeDoux wants to see you."
Amanda pulled her arm free and Chris stared at her confused. "I have to go. I have to get out of here." She spotted the man in the green shirt and sunglasses. He smiled at her and a spike of anger ran through her mind. "I need to get to Glyph." She said grabbing her duffel roughly. Hissing she leaned forward grasped at the center of her chest. The movement was too much.
"Stay!" Chris ordered and Amanda looked at him confused. He seemed to realize his mistake instantly. "The winner always meets with Mr. LeDoux." The man added with a small reassuring smile.
She shook her head and straightened up. "I can't." Amanda said and quickly made her way through the sea of people to the door. She hit the street and only paused for a moment to get her bearing before she took off.
Amanda was at her door before she realized it and slammed open the door. There was nothing but darkness before her and unlike other times when she would make sure a light was on she shot into it. "Glyph!" She shouted duffel bag falling to the floor. She went towards the office calling his name several more times. Panic began to sink in. He wasn't coming! He wasn't coming! Did the man actually know where she lived and already taken him.
"Glyph!" She screamed in a full on panic now as she rushed to the locker room. "Fuck why did I stay?!" She yelled at herself spinning around after deciding the locker room and showers were empty.
:It's gonna be alright. He's got ta be upstairs in recharge by now.: Jazz reassured her. Yet he couldn't stop his own panic when they heard the front door slam shut. Amanda was out in the main room a second later. The green glow of the Mountain Dew machine lit up the small figure of a little mech. He turned his pale blue optics away from the machine towards her with a curious chirp. Amanda lifted the little bot from the ground and hugged him. Her panic dissipated when she had picked him up. Proving that he was there and he was safe with her.
)O(
"She left." Mr. LeDoux said coldly looking over some papers.
"Yeah she was panicked or worried about someone called Glyph." Chris answered watching the chair move slightly his back to the windows overlooking the ring.
"I thought you said she had no one."
"Only her old man. I made sure people avoided her even after I left. Spread rumors, had old gang members check in on her." He grinned turning to look at the ring. It was stained with blood more than normal. He touched the window remembering the sound of Bloody Mary's head snapping back. Pit Viper had worried him at first. She had gone down too easily. He had begun to wonder if she even could fight anymore. Then she got up in a small rage taking Bloody Mary down. "She shouldn't have anyone to relay on but me. Nearly had her out of her pants last night but something stopped her."
"I don't need to know about your conquests I need fighters." Mr. LeDoux said standing. Chris turned to look at the man and swallowed. "Bloody Mary is out of commission. You owe me another fighter."
Chris sneered slightly. "I told you at the start that that girl wouldn't last. You need someone trained to take to the rings." He stepped by the older man to stop at a filing cabinet. "Viper will be the only one you need after a little training." Chris added pulling out a small bag and headed out the door.
