Royal AU where Kristoff is a prince.

Disclaimer: Disney owns it. I don't.

A/N Totally forgot to mention that I am completely new to writing stuff, so reviews are much appreciated.

Kristoff stared at the paper in his hands, reading and rereading it as he paced in front of his mother in her study. Finally, he slammed it on the desk and dropped into a chair, letting out and angry growl. "This isn't fair."

Bulda placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know, honey, but It's what your father wanted. It's for the benefit of the kingdom."

"I hate politics."

"I know."

His shoulders drooped and he sighed. "There's nothing you can do?"

"I'm sorry, Kristoff." She offered a sympathetic smile.

"I'm not even related to you. Doesn't that do something?" It was true; the king and queen had adopted him when he was a child, something most orphans could only dream of. But being a prince came with overwhelming responsibilities. Like betrothals.

His mother shook her head sadly. "You're heir to the throne. Nothing changes that."

Another sigh. "So I have to marry a complete stranger."

"Oh, hush, you have a whole two years to get acquainted. And maybe you'll like her. I've heard that she's a nice girl."

Kristoff raised a brow. "Is that another way to say she has a 'great personality? Because that just makes it worse."

"No! I'm only saying she's a really nice girl!"

"Mom, have you seen what her sister can do? She's terrifying! After our first argument as a married couple, she'll just freeze me solid!"

"I'm sure she's not that bad once you get to know her." Bulda grinned. "And I'm sure you'll especially like Princess Anna. I invited her over to meet you so you two can get a head start courting each other."

"When does she arrive?"

"Next week."

Kristoff rose and opened the door, but paused before he left. "I'm not getting my hopes up," he warned, and closed the door behind him.

? ? ?

Kristoff stood in the middle of the ballroom, tugging nervously at his collar as he kept his gaze fixed on the doors.

She would walk through those doors in any moment.

And he was absolutely terrified.

The girl that walked through those doors would someday be his wife.

The doors suddenly burst open and a young ginger-haired woman tripped into the room. She regained her balance, then lost it again, ending up sprawled on the floor in a very unladylike fashion.

Kristoff instantly rushed to her aid. "Are you alright?" He asked in concern as he pulled her up. She wave a hand dismissively and laughed.

"Oh, I'm perfectly fine! This happens all the time!" She looked up at his face and her eyes widened. She gasped and her face brightened. "You must be Prince Kristoff! You're so handsome!" Her eyes widened. "I mean-well-yeah. That's what I meant." She curtsied. "I'm Anna."

He couldn't help but gape in astonishment. "Princess Anna?"

She nodded.

"Of Arendelle?"

"One and the same!"

This had to be some sort of mistake. She was too awkward and adorable to be the princess of an entire nation.

Kristoff couldn't help but smile. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
