A small calico kitten made its way out of a lonely garden in search for food. It meowed quietly as its search was unsuccessful. Poor thing was hungry. Its owners recently moved out and left the kitten alone to fend for itself. Ever since then its been scared, cold and starving. Survival was hard, wild dogs at every corner, the lashing rain added to its foul smell and constant shivering.
The stray animal was about to move on to the next street when a sudden noise spooked it. Almost making it jump out of its fur in fact. It would have ran away but being as young as it was, curiosity got the better of it. It seemed the term curiosity killed the cat was true in fact. Young animals get themselves into danger all the time. Most didn't end too well.
The little white paws padded along the road side to the person that was clearly laying on the ground moaning and stirring. Titling its little head, the cat inched closer to the body laying on the ground, once it was beside the person it sniffed the figure instinctively. Again the human stirred, his owlish brown eyes opening slowly before shutting again. The boy let out a soft whimper as he rolled onto this stomach. He slowly lifted his aching arms and pushed himself up onto his elbows, setting himself there as he tried to get his dizzy mind to think straight. He was extremely stupid, extremely fucking stu-
"Ow!" Luffy moaned as his arms gave out making him fall onto this chin. Instead of trying to push himself up again, Luffy settled for laying on the ground, trying not to let himself slip into unconsciousness again.
That man said he would help him, said that everything was going to be alright. In the end he was just a disgusting waste of oxygen. He and his friends….they were all horrible. His lower back ached, blood dripped down his leg, his wrists were chaffed horribly and his whole body screamed in burning agony. He told them people he wanted to go home but they just laughed. He was so scared, he just wanted his grandpa and no one else. That was why he needed to stay awake to get home.
A soft, barely recognisable thud landed on the boys back, startling him. He didn't want to move, he was too scared if it was them people. "Oh god please…." Luffy whispered, lowering his head into the pavement some more. Although this did not protect him from anything….
Then as quick as the movements came, they left. Luffy could have sworn he heard padded feet scampering away. He ignored it. After what seemed like a lifetime of trying to sum up the courage to stand up through the pain, Luffy finally stood up. He recognised this place as his street. Thank the gods. Thank you….
He limped over to his house and fell at the door before he could knock and get help though. "Grandpa…" Luffy whimpered before collapsing again. He was exhausted, in pain and cold. He just wanted Garp, he didn't care if the old man gave him a lecture, he wanted Garp to come find him. Luffy was about to black out again when the front door opened up revealing non other than Garp. Luffy smiled slightly through his bloody lip as he finally blacked out again

Garp was just about to go to bed, it was 11pm at night. After calling that grandson of his a million times, the man decided to turn over for the night. Luffy would be home tomorrow and then he would have to think up a punishment for being out for two days...two god damn days! That kid….just like his Father in every way. Garp had to smile just as he was about to head up the stairs. But just as he was on the third step, he heard a faint scratching on the front door. Scratching like an animal or some sort…..
"Bloody cat.." Garp gritted his teeth. There was this one small cat that always came to for him for food. He knew he shouldn't have given it food, now it wont leave. "I'll make it leave thats for-" Just as Garp opened the door to scare the cat away, he stopped in his tracks. There on the footpath was none other than his grandson. Luffy.
Instinctively Garp saw red for just a moment. But also flooded with pure relief. "Monkey D Luffy, where the hell were you?!" Garp raged, bending down to grab the boys arm but instead was met with silence. "Luffy?" Garp said shaking the boys arm. No response. Garp shook him again, he rolled Luffy onto his back and at once the man gasped seeing the state the teen was in….
Garp then knew this was wrong, Luffy needed help, not to be yelled at for once. So in one quick movement, Garp picked Luffy up into his arms, minding all the clear injuries and carried him back into the house.
Just before the door closed shut, the little calico kitten sneaked in without being seen.
