Chapter 19

Hey guys. What Up? How have you guys been huh? I'm doing just fine, thanks. Geeze, it is HOT where I live. Man, I hate it. My wedding will be in winter and night, in NY. Kidding, anyway song is... Mr. Brightside by The Killers. Good song, weird music video. Here is next chapta.

CAS' POV

Later that day, Joseph told me it was time to eat dinner. I followed him down the hall. We took a few turns and walked into the room where Nyx was trying to tell us the story of our messed up life. Nyx and Hermes were already there, sitting down. Joe and I sat down. Hermes and Nyx were at the heads of the table, and Joe and I were in the middle. The air was tense. So thick that it could be cut with a butter knife. I kept my eyes down, looking past the plate, past the table, even past the floor. I was just in my own little world, staring off into space. I just sat there, thinking about how messed up this whole situation was. I knew it was harsh of me to explode on Nyx like that.

"...dinner? Cassidy? CASSIDY!" I snapped my head up. Joe had his hand on my shoulder, lightly shaking me.

"Oh uh, sorry. I guess I zoned out. What were you saying?"

"I asked if you are actually going to eat food for dinner," he said.

I though it was a stupid question. But then I realized that everyone else had food on their plates already.

"I...uh...yeah" I finished quickly. That seemed like a rude comment coming from Jospeh, or was it just me?

Laid out before us was a variety of foods. I saw steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, a salad of some kind, and a lot more. I got a small helping of potatoes and a small piece of steak. For the first few minutes, we ate in silence. Needless to say, it was pretty awkward. Finally, Hermes cleared his throat.

"So, do either of you have any questions about us?" He asked.

"NO" I made Jo jump a bit. I cleared my throat. "no" I said more quietly. The others looked at me strangely, then Hermes turned towards Joseph.

"Um, no I don't think so." he answered.

"Actually, I do." I piped up. My company turned towards me. "How long do you expect us to stay here? Because the camp is probably looking for us right now, I missing out on many drums lessons right now, and we hardly know you."

"Well, we were hoping a few days at the least. It's the least we could ask for. I know you don't really know us, but we've been watching over you since we gave you to Lauren."

Creepy, am I right?

"Okay, well. I think we should head back to camp tomorrow night," I said abruptly.

Suddenly, Joe stood up. "No! Unlike you, I don't want to leave my own parents."

I was taken back by his short and sudden outburst. After quickly regaining my wits, I replied with, "Okay then I will see you at camp in a few days." With that I stood up to go back to my room. Just then, I heard a familiar voice say "What the hell?"

-Line Break-

I started running in the direction of the voice.

"Amber?" I called out.

I heard a gasp, followed by a "Cassidy?" with excitement in her voice.

I turned a corner, a saw Amber, Nico, and girl I vaguely recognized from the Ares cabin.

Amber ran up and hugged me tight, and I didn't resist her.

"Oh my gods, where are we? How did you get here? Have you met Ava yet? Are you okay? Who took you, I swear I'm going to kill the-"

I cut her off, "Woah, slow down there. I've never been so glad to see a friend."

"So we're besties now?"

I sighed, "I guess so" I said with a smile. She hugged me again. Once we released I turned towards this ''Ava'' character.

"Hi you must be Ava?" I asked.

"Yep and I'm here to save you!" She proclaimed proudly. Don't think I forgot about the certain son of Hades standing on the opposite side of Amber. Just then, we could here footsteps, and not to long after, I saw Hermes and Nyx come around the corner. I wondered where Joe was.

Once Hermes had taken in what he saw, he said "I'm sorry I didn't know we were haven't guest." He said in the you-weren't-invited-so-why-are-you-here kind of tone, "Cassidy, dear, who is this?"

First off, don't call me dear. I heard Hermes clear this throat, signifying that he had received my though.

"This is Amber, Ava, and...Nico" I said that last part quietly.

"What are you demigods doing here?" Nyx asked.

Rude.

Amber cleared her throat. "We are here to retrieve Cassidy. And seeing as we found her, I think we should go."

Bad answer. I saw a fire light in Nxy's eyes, but she remained calm.

"And just who..." she started menacingly, "...do you think you are to come in here and take her away from us?"

"Well, um, we just told you that we are Amber, Nico, and Ava, so..." Amber said quietly. Oh no.

"You will pay for your foolish comment, mortal" What happened next was like slow motion. I saw Nyx raise her hand so that her palm was facing Amber. I did the first thing that came to mind. I jumped in front Amber.

JOE'S POV

When should I tell her? How would I tell her? It's not something that comes up easy in a conversation. I mean, when I accepted the offer, it seemed great, but when Cas arrived here, her presence felt strange. I mean, there's no one I really care about besides Cassidy and my parents, but with the way she's been acting, I don't think she'll ever accept their offer. But who wouldn't? There isn't a single demigod who's ever declined immortality, right?

Woah, cliffy (sort of). So tell me what you guys thought and whether or not you liked the changes I made in the previous chapters. They weren't major changes, but I think they helped a lot. Anyway I think I'm not going to ask for reviews anymore. You guys don't do it for a while, so then I don't update for a while, and blah blah blah. Anyway, love you guys1 Thanks for reading.
