Ninja Doorman

Chapter 8

My heart was pounding in my chest as I narrowed my eyes to get a better view of the enemy. The bush I was crawling under made my arms itch. I could hear birds in the trees above chirping happily.

They did not comprehend the danger below.

I crawled next to an old tree that had long ago fallen ever. Sad considering it looked like it used to be a beautiful oak. Moss has grown on the graying bark and some insects made the tree their home.

Banji slithered out of my sleeve to smell at a hole underneath.

A hiss from me made the snake remember where he was and go back in my long sleeve.

At times he was handy, but not here.

The mission was too dangerous, the enemy too deadly.

I reached for my belt and pulled out a kunai from my pouch. I got off of the ground but remained crouched behind my cover. The enemy hasn't noticed me yet.

I heard I small hiss and shook my shoulders to tell Banji to cut it out. But the hissing continued.

I bit my lip as I felt sweat run down the side of my face. If Banji kept this up he would give away our position. That was unacceptable. I had to attack before my location was given away.

Sending chakra to my feet, I jumped over the dead tree trunk with my weapon held high. In this path the weapon would find its way into the enemy shinobi's neck. However this didn't happen.

In fact the kunai never went down far enough. In fact it went to the side and my body stayed suspended in the air.

"Nice try." My nemesis snickered while turning to me. This gave me a clear line of sight to the snakes coming out of the enemies sleeve and into the ground, making it clear what was holding me up from behind. With the snakes still coming out of the sleeve; the hands came together. I glared and struggled more as my captor prepared to form seals. "You were a worthy opponent. But this is the end."

My fate became clear. There was no hope for me. I looked into the eyes of my executioner and glared, determined not to die not seeing the blow coming, to show defiance and that the Will of Fire still lives on.

This may be the end of me, but my village lives on!

"Kinjutsu: Tickling Death!"

"HAHAHAHA! KAA-CHAN, I GIVE UP! HAHAHAHA, I SURRENDER! STOP! YOU WIN! YOU WIN! HAHAHA!" I wailed as my cardboard kunai fell from my hand.

Anko laughed evilly as she continued her assault on my sides. I squirmed in the grasp of the snakes holding my arms and legs.

When she stopped I just slumped down gasping for breath.

"You should have listened to Banji." She scolded while crossing her arms.

"Hai… Kaa-chan…" a mumbled between intakes of air.

"Make sure you remember next time." the snakes started to lower and relax their hold on me. "Now pick up your things. We have to meet Kurenai-chan for lunch before she leaves."

"Alright."

I looked around and picked up the toy kunai and senbon across the training grounds.

Anko has been training me for the last few months ever since I said I wanted to become a shinobi. She tried to talk me out of it a few times. I understood why she was trying to get me to change my mind.

The life of a shinobi is a dangerous one, and depending on how you do things it is possible you can die at any time while on a mission or if the village was attacked.

We agreed I would go to the academy when I turn six. I needed a year or so to get ready anyway.

It had been five months since I moved in with Anko. Surprisingly Anko was a good parental figure. There were moments, sure, but she always tried her hardest to make sure I was both safe and happy. I moved out of her room four months ago when the door to the roof magically turned into I staircase that led to a room just as big as Anko's overnight.

Every time I asked how that happened she responded each time with her popular response of "I have my ways."

The room was empty the first day so when I looked around I almost didn't notice the walls, floor, and windowsill were all connected. And I don't mean with nails. All the floors in the house were made of wooden boards. This was one solid piece of wood shaped like well aligned boards. The windowsill and walls were the same way.

It explained why the window had to be installed later, and with the bits of chakra I felt from walking around the room.

Yamato Tenzo, the only man capable of using Wood Release in Konoha built my room!

Mother must have found some blackmail on him, or something.

And in case you wanted to know, his chakra feels both calm and stoic. It also felt extremely intimidating, making it imposable for me to sleep anywhere else other than Anko's room until the chakra dissipated due to nightmares if I actually managed to fall asleep.

Yeah, I didn't know ckakra dissipated like that. I found out for me chakra was like smoke. It can drift up over time and be affected by the wind. And depending on how much chakra was used in a jutsu, or how much contact the spot has had with the person, the longer the "Smoke" stays around.

And since the whole room was made with Yamato's chakra, it was like walking into a bar and getting hit with a wall of cigarette smoke. Not really subtle.

My training methods had escalated gradually over time. I still did my paper chakra exercises. I even walked up a wall in my room… I made it one step before falling and hitting the wooden floor. That was not much but it beat my last record of zero steps up the wall.

It was clear I had a long way to go.

The first time this happened Anko was in my room within three seconds ready to throw a kunai. She was more surprised that I even knew how wall walking was done, let alone that I had actually attempted it.

I was slow to. Sure I was good at using my chakra to increase my strength for my age, but that was because I had a chakra core for each part of my body. And if I exerted chakra from a core long enough it stops and the limb goes limp.

The first time this happened Anko started panicking and rushed me to the hospital. That was how I found out my cores were not like others.

Someone with a normal core can constantly channel a steady flow of chakra to do something such as water walking for a long period of time. If I did it long enough the core I was using would automatically shut down, much like an emergency valve. That was because I have and am capable of holding far more chakra then a normal person. So much in fact, it could rip my chakra pathways apart if they didn't shut off.

The only thing helping Naruto with his reserves was his Uzumaki heritage and the fox holding him together.

I did not have either luxury.

But if I was careful and only used small amounts at a time instead of a stream I can lengthen the period of time I can use chakra. But channeling it was out of the question. If I ever mastered wall or water walking I would be unable to just stand in one place. That means I would have to cut off the flow when I lifted a leg and then channel chakra back when my foot makes contact.

Brings new meaning to River Dancing… if I was forced to stand in one spot.

But I did find out it is possible for me to send chakra from a core in my shoulder to places other than where it was connected, such as I can send chakra from one of the two cores in my waist to my hands instead of my legs.

This all led to one thing. I could not let my chakra do all the work for me. I had to build up not just my chakra, but my physical limits as well.

This reminded me of Lee. He can't perform jutsu, but even without using chakra to enhance himself, he could do a lot with just his own strength.

So I gave the suggestion that maybe I should get training wrist and ankle weights.

That had to be the stupidest idea to of left my mouth.

Not even the next day Anko got me four strips of blue cloth with a white seal on all of them. When you put them on they use chakra to attach themselves to the limb they were on. It was hard to tell they were there. That was until you store chakra in them.

The more chakra you store, the heavier they get.

Right now they weigh five pounds each. But once I adapt to it Anko is going to increase it each time.

And I get in trouble if I take them off if I am anywhere but in the bathroom about to take a shower.

One strange thing I have to mention is that if a normal five year old did this back in my past life they could end up destroying their muscles and stunting their growth. Here we have chakra. It is because of chakra that someone can survive something like almost bleeding out.

Training with Anko has been an… interesting experience. Sometimes we spar. Other times we throw kunai at targets. Although I told her I wanted to learn how to use senbon like she can.

I just like accuracy.

So she started teaching me how to use both kunai and senbon. My aim needed work. At the moment it is hard for me to hit a target right in front of me, but I am improving.

But Anko likes my ability to throw kunai skyward and plan out the arch, hitting the target. This became possible because I found out what the core at the base of my skull could do to my brain.

I like to think I am an intelligent person. But if I pump chakra from the core at the base of my skull to my eyes and brain I can see past twenty-twenty vision. It makes it easier for me to plot out the paths of objects for a short period of time. So I can bounce things off of stuff and do with a kunai what can best be described as an almost one hundred percent accurate game of Angry Birds.

Sadly I can only do this for a few seconds at a time. Any longer then about ten seconds and my nose starts bleeding and I get a migraine. So that means I still have to learn how to throw kunai and senbon.

Other than that Kaa-chan likes to basically make me play hide and seek with fake weapons. One time she had hidden a few concussion tags around the forest and let me find out about them on my own.

They were not nearly as strong as an explosive tag, but it was a good way to make sure I would never forget my weights at home ever again.

Sometimes I trained with Kurenai.

She was not as extreme as my mother, but she was a good teacher. She had said she wanted to lead a team of Genin in the future, and that she wanted to see how it feels to train someone like myself as practice.

She tried to teach me how to use genjutsu once, but I just couldn't even begin to do it. I'm not saying I lack imagination. It just doesn't work when I do it. Kurenai thinks it is because I would have to keep feeding the jutsu chakra in order to keep it together.

It was almost the same with transformation jutsus. I could turn into people, but it would be for a short time.

But we did make a breakthrough.

To catch someone in a genjutsu you have to disrupt their chakra flows and use them to feed the opponent false information, making them see, hear, or smell something that was not there or trick your body into thinking you can't move. There are three ways you can escape a genjustu. First would be pain. You can do this yourself if you can move or hope someone else could smack you over the head or something. Next you can have someone pump chakra into your system to mess up the flow.

The last way is to manipulate your own chakra flow. You could either flare up your chakra or try to change the direction your chakra is flowing.

Can you see where I am going with this?

I can use my chakra cores to easily change the way my chakra flows. But breaking the illusion isn't as easy as it sounds. The more advanced the genjutsu, the more erratically I have to mess with my chakra.

I can easily shatter a low level D-rank genjutsu, but anything higher than that is almost impossible. For now.

So when Kurenai and I train we either sparred or she would put me in a genjutsu.

"You ready." Anko asked when I walked back. I nodded my head and she turned her back to me and kneeled down.

I climbed up and wrapped my arms carefully around her neck as she held my legs. Not even a second later after tightening my grip we were off.

To say Anko is fast is an understatement. She may not be as frighteningly fast as Might Gai and how fast Rock Lee is going to get, but I had a feeling she was faster than most of the people I was likely to meet.

It did not take long for us to reach Ichiraku's.

"Oba-chan!" My mouth yelled automatically and childishly while running over to her when I was placed on the ground.

"Hi, Hajime-kun." She greeted with a warm smile as she took a kneel to accept my hug. What can I say, I'm a kid. "How was your training today?" the woman asked when we separated.

"Snakes…" That one word summed up the whole event.

"Really?" she asked, understandingly. "You'll just have to try to do better next time." after I nodded she stood up and held my hand while looking at Anko who was smirking at the exchange. "You two going to be able to eat healthy with me out of the village for a month?"

"We can get by." Anko shrugged as we walked into the stand and all sat down.

When we ordered I smiled widely. There is a reason Naruto practically lived off of this ramen stand.

And as much as I love dango, I can't live on just that alone.

Look, I know it may take me a while to get a chapter up. I am not even going to make an excuse. Life happens. I am going to say this in The Wildcard as well. I won't give up on these stories. I already have so much planned. Please don't ask me if I gave up on it or things like that. If I give up writing I will let you guys know. Hell, I even have steps in place in case something happens to me, like I am hospitalized, or even just drop dead.

What I am trying to say is, Don't panic, I will update eventually.

Now that that is out of the way. Do you guys know of any good self inserts? Typing Self Insert or SI/OC in search sadly only finds a fraction of them out there. So many stories where one of the two or nowhere in the summery.
