Chapter 12: We're going on a Fossil Hunt!
Man, we have been through a LOT! Lately we'd made a PokeVision recording with Serena (I wore a Froakie suit, my 'partner' found it hilarious.) and had arrived in Ambrette Town and tried to catch a Shiny Magikarp...with no luck.
But I gotta admit, Ambrette Town is great! Especially the beaches, in fact, I was training there with my team right now!
"Okay Vivillon! Use Solarbeam!"
"Viiii!" Vivillon tried to absorb the sunlight, but it faded away.
"Still no good..." "Vi..." Me and my pokemon sighed. I had been training my pokemon for my match against Grant, and that included teaching Vivillon Solarbeam to gain a move type advantage.
"Are you SURE you want to use Vivillion?" Natalie asked as she walked over with Nightrise floating beside her. "Bug Types have a large disadvantage against Rock Types."
"Yeah, why don't you use Froakie and Honedge instead?" Liam agreed.
I turned to them with a smile. "Well, of course I'm taking type into account, but..." I held out my arm and Vivillon landed daintily on it. "I want to use Vivillon for Sis, and show Grant how strong Bug Types can be!"
"Frooooakie!" "Vivillon!" My pokemon cheered.
"Well, can't argue with that." Natalie shrugged.
"Lune..." Nightrise sighed as she shook her body in an exasperated manner.
"I see your training hard, little brother."
As soon as I heard the voice I smiled. "Big Sis!"
Alexa and Helioptile walked up to us followed by Ash and the rest of the gang. "It's good to see you again." "Tile!" My sister and her pokemon greeted us.
"Good to see you too!" "Froak!" I smiled as Froakie and Helioptile hopped off our respective shoulders and started playing tag.
"Hold on, BIG sis?" Liam raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, Alexa is both my and Viola's older sister!" I told them.
"...Your family is confusing." Liam sighed.
"Not really..." I also sighed.
"I see you have a Vivillon as well, Elliot. Must've been that little Scatterbug you had, huh?" Alexa smiled.
"Yep! She's all grown up and evolved now!" I smiled as Vivillon perched on my head.
"So, what are you doing here, Alexa?" Natalie asked.
"Well, I heard about Viola losing to Grant, and she does NOT take losing well." She chuckled. "You know that, right Elliot."
"Don't need to remind me..." I said in exasperation.
"So I decided to do a bit of searching to where you'd gone off too since she found out you were challenging Grant, so I bumped into you here." She then raised a finger. "But the main reason I'm here is-"
Suddenly Clemont pushed his way to the front. "She's going to the Fossil Lab! Where the greatest scientific and historical treasures lie!" I could practically see the stars in the inventors eyes.
"They've made some huge discovery as well!" "Pika!" Ash and his partner chimed in.
"Huge discovery?" "Froak?" We echoed as Froakie hopped on my shoulder.
"Yeah, and that's what I'm gonna do my report on." Figures, Big Sis is always looking for the newest stories. "So, wanna come with us?"
"Sure." I nodded, but if it was just another set of bones I was outta there.
"Sounds kinda interesting." Natalie said half-heartedly as Nightrise just looked to the side, clearly bored.
"Okay, why not?" Liam shrugged.
"It sounds complicated." Bonnie whined.
"And wouldn't it be just a bunch of old bones?" Serena thought aloud.
"No! They're amazing discoveries!" Clemont told them with that sparkly look.
This was gonna be a looooong day.
OCXY
"Welcome to the Fossil Lab everyone, my name is Thadeus and I'm a researcher here." A man in a white lab coat said as we stood outside the Fossil Lab, me with just Froakie on my shoulders.
"I'm Alexa, and I'm writing the article, it's a pleasure to meet you." Sis said as she bowed.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." The rest of us copied in words and actions.
"The pleasure's mine, please, come this way." Thadeus said as he guided us inside.
The Fossil Lab was quite large, filled with ancient stones and bones in glass cabinets, and even hanging from the ceiling!
"Woooow! Look at that!" Clemont gasped as he was mesmerised by an impressive display of fossils. "These are all fossils of pokemon who lived in ancient times!"
"So awesome!" Ash agreed. "I can't believe they found so many fossils!"
"Pikachu!" Said pokemon agreed.
Bonnie was more interested in an Aerodactyl skeleton hanging from the ceiling. "Wow! Those sure are huge bones, aren't they Dedenne?"
"Nenne!" Dedenne said.
Nightrise was particularly interested in a particular rock that was said to be half meteorite, half fossil. "Figures you'd be interested in that." Natalie smirked, causing her pokemon to give her a half-lidded look.
"They just look like regular rocks to me." Serena stated, making me facepalm. Yeah, Serena was a more modern person, no time for the old stuff, especially 'rocks'. "What's so great about them?"
"Is the big discovery one of the things in here?" Ash asked as he ran up to Big Sis.
"No, it's even more amazing! Just wait and see!" "Tile!" My sister and her pokemon said, who could barely contain their excitement.
We followed Thadeus to a set of lockers. "Now before I take you into the next room..." He reached into one locker and pulled out an orange and red winter jacket. "Please put on this cold weather gear."
'Cold weather gear?' I thought. 'Is the next fossil encapsuled in ice or something?'
"Cold weather gear?" "Pikachu?" Ash echoed.
Nevertheless we put it on and followed him to a smaller dome shaped building. As the doors opened we found ourselves in a snow filled forest. 'Who makes a snow filled forest at a Fossil Lab!?'
"Cold!" Ash stated correctly as me and him shivered.
"It's freezing in here!" I agreed.
"Wha-What is this place?" Serena thought aloud.
"It's like a gigantic freezer in here!" Clemont said.
"Freezer? Dedenne are you okay?" Bonnie asked.
"Nenne." The poor little electric type shivered before popping back into Bonnie's jacket.
"Sorry." Thadeus chuckled. "We've set the room temperature for the comfort of the pokemon in here." Though we were already running off.
Then a pokemon walked out of the forest and near Ash. It was bipedal, with a blue colour and a long neck, and what looked like two diamonds on either side of its body.
"Ah! Cold!" Ash gasped as it nuzzled him. "Ahh! What's that!?"
"Amaaaa!" The pokemon said.
"Wow! It's amaziiing!" Natalie beamed.
"An Amaura!" Clemont informed us. "It's a pokemon from ancient times that was thought to live in frozen areas of the Kalos region. Way, way up north."
"Your quite well informed." Thadeus praised the genius as he walked up to the ancient pokemon. "Yes, it's an Amaura, these pokemon have been extinct since long long ago."
Suddenly the ground began to shake. "Ah! Wh-What's that!?" Serena gasped as we all wobbled on the ice.
A HUGE pokemon that looked like a much bigger and more detailed Amaura stomped over to us, and I recognised it instantly as its evolved form, Auroras, which Thadeus told everyone else.
"Wow! It's huge!" Bonnie gaped at the pokemon.
"Amaura and Auroras! They're alive!" I don't think Clemont could believe his eyes. Hey, that was a rhyme! And another!
"This must be the discovery! Jot fossils but real pokemon!" Serena taking interest in history!? I never thought I'd see the day.
"That's right! I wanted to do some reporting on them." Alexa told us.
"Our Fossil Labs sent out an excavating crew that found something in a glacier far to the north." Thadeus reminiscented. "And what we restored from that frozen Sail Fossil is what you see in front of you."
"Incredible! Being able to see a living Amaura and Auroras with my very own eyes!" I could tell Clemont was happy, and who wouldn't be? Pokemon, long thought extinct, were with us once again! It really shows how far technology has come!
Amaura seemed interested in Ash. "Do you wanna play Amaura?"
"Me too! Me too!" Bonnie cheered.
"You see, they live in an area with very few enemies. And as a result they're very trusting and friendly." Thadeus smiled.
"Yeah, I can tell." Ash smiled as Amaura nuzzled him again.
"Of course you couldn't have found that just by looking at a fossil!" Clemont noted.
"Right, and because we're able to observe Amaura and Auroras like this, we learn a lot more about ancient pokemon." Thadeus said.
As Serena hugged them as well a certain Fire type popped out. "Chimchar!"
"Hey Chimchar, you wanna say hi to Amaura as well?" I asked him, to which he nodded. "Okay, but be careful, 'cause they're part *sniff* Ice Type."
"Chimchar!" He nodded as he walked over to Amaura. "Chihihihimchar!"
"Amaaaur!" Amaura nuzzled against him too, making him cheer happily.
"I'm glad you two are getting on so we-eh-ehhhhhACHOO!" I sneezed, startling the two new pokemon friends. "Oh do...ACHOO!" I mumbled before I sneezed again.
"Elliot, are you okay?" "Pika?" Ash and Pikachu asked.
Alexa sighed with a worried smile. "Elliot has never been particularly good with temperatures. Right, c'mon little brother, let's go get you warmed up." She said as she started dragging me away.
"Hey! Big Sis! I jusd wanna play with Amaura a little-ACHOO!" I sneezed.
Serena giggled. "I remember once when we made a snowman, Elliot had to stay in bed all day afterwards."
"Dond tell them thad! ACHOO!" I sniffled.
"Froak..." Froakie sighed as we both walked out.
OCXY
I sat in the main corridor wrapped in a green cloth, with a cup of hot chocolate in my hands and Froakie rubbing me to warm me up. "Thands Froaki-ee-ee-ACHOO!"
Alexa sighed. "How is it that my little brother, who has one of the strongest immune systems in the world, gets sick from a little cold?"
"Sorry aboud dad." I sniffled. "Heliopdile, can you keep an eye on Chimchar while he's playing in there? I dond wand him to ged-ACHOO!...Losd."
"Tile!" Helioptile nodded.
"Well, I gotta go and write my report, so you stay here and rest up, promise?" Alexa gave me the 'big sister' look, if you have one you know what I mean.
"Promise..." I mumbled.
"Good." She smiled as she walked out.
I sighed. "Gread, I meed prehisdoric pokemon only do catch a sdoopid co-ho-ho-ACHOO!"
"Froakie." Froakie sighed.
Suddenly I heard the double doors open, and I looked to see Natalie and Liam there. "Hey, whad are you doo doing here?"
"Just came to check up on you." Liam shrugged.
"Truth be told, I wanted to keep playing with Amaura, but Nightrise isn't a fan of the cold." I looked at the Lunatone to see it shivering violently, covered in frost. "Those were really friendly pokemon too, I wish I could catch one."
"Yeah!" I agreed. "Having an anciend pokemon on my deam would be so coo-hoo-hoo-ACHOO!" I sniffed and drank some hot chocolate."
"There's actually a specific reason they set the Fossil Lab up here in Ambrette Town." Liam said as he looked at an information booklet.
"There is?" I echoed.
"Yeah, says here that a cave called Glittering Cave is directly east of here, says the deepest parts are supposed to be filled with fossils."
"Really!?" I stood up. "Okay! I've decided! I'm gonna go do Gliddering Cave and ged a fossil do revive!"
"FroaKIE!" My partner supported me.
"Hey, if YOUR gonna get a fossil, then I'd like to look for one as well." Natalie smirked.
"I'd like to see if there are any fossils there as well." Liam agreed.
"Okay! Ids decided!" I pointed onward. "Led's go do the Gliddering Ca-ha-ha-ACHOO!"
OCXY
Ohhh man, we'd been walking for a bit now, and my feet were aching, Froakie just had to sit on my shoulder, luckily my cold was almost gone. "How much longer until Glittering Cave?" I asked Natalie, who was leading.
"Just a little further! Sheesh." Natalie sighed as Nightrise smirked it's eyes at us with a 'Lunaaa.'
"Hey! There it is! The entrance to Glittering Cave!" Liam yelled as he pointed to a large cave mouth, leading into darkness.
"Froak..." Froakie croaked as he strained to look down it.
"Looks pretty dark." I sighed. "And Chimchar's back at the Fossil Lab playing, we don't have a Fire Type."
"Ahem!" Liam coughed loudly as he held out a pokeball, that popped open with some added sparkles to reveal his Shiny Braixen.
"Braiiixen!" She cried.
"Oh right, forgot about Braixen." I laughed nervously.
"Braixen, could you please light the way for us?" Liam asked.
"Braix." The pokemon nodded as it lit up its stick, and we followed it into the cave.
"Wow..." "Froak..." "Braix..." "Luna..." Us and our pokemon gasped as hundreds of crystals half buried in the walls of the tunnel like caves reflected the light.
"This is so cool!" I marvelled as I tried to pull one of them out, only for it not to budge. "These things are stuck tight."
Natalie also tried to pull one out, with no success. "Looks like they're actually part of the cave, removing one could cause the whole cave to fall down on us, wanna keep trying?"
"No thanks." I stated as I backed away from the crystals.
We walked for a while down the rocky corridors until we entered what felt like a room, Braixen's small light couldn't illuminate the entire large surface area.
"Seems we've reached SOMEWHERE." Liam said.
"Bright isn't it? I can't see a thing!" Natalie strained her eyes.
"I know someone that could help." I said as I got out a pokeball. "Vivillon! Come on out!"
My Bug Type burst forth in a bright blue light. "Vivillon!" She cried. Perching on my head she spread her wings wide, Braixen's flame reflected off of her wing scales and made the whole room glow, revealing a large cavern, also with crystals in it that helped with the light.
"That's pretty handy Vivillon." "Lunatone." Natalie and Nightrise praised her.
"Viviiii." She smiled with a blush on her face.
"Alright! This is obviously the deepest cavern, so let's get digging!" I shouted, making it echo off the walls.
We all got to work individually, with Braixen and Vivillon providing light, me and Froakie dug by my partner softening the earth with his Frubbles so I could pull it away.
Liam and Ralts were making the most of Ralts' Confusion to gently shift boulders and rocks away. Whilst Nightrise used singular Stone Edge's to chip away at the hardest levels.
'This is taking a while...' I thought. 'Big Sis'll be mad if she finds out we snuck off!...Hold on...yeah! He'll do!'
I got out a pokeball and threw it towards the ceiling, it popped open to reveal the pokemon I wanted. "Honedge!"
"Honedge, could you use your Slash attack to cut away some of these rocks?" I asked him.
Honedge looked at me, then at the rocks. "Honedge!" He said huffily before turning away in an offended manner.
"Huh? What's wrong, Honedge?" "Froak?" Me and my partner were confused.
"Honedge ARE sword pokemon." Natalie called over. "I guess he's got some pride to uphold, and being a pokemon shovel isn't very honourable."
"I see..." I turned to my pokemon. "I apologise Honedge, I didn't mean to insult your honour or pride."
Honedge seemed to forgive me as he turned his eye up in a smile. "Hon, Honedge!"
Then there was the sound of cracking. "Hey! We found something!" We all rushed over to Natalie and Nightrise. "Place your ears to this wall and listen." We did as she said as she knocked on the rocky wall like a door.
"...It sounds hollow." Liam stated.
Natalie smiled. "Yeah, so that means there's another chamber or something past here!"
"Really!? Well then what are we waiting for!? Let's bust it down!" I smiled.
"But with what move? This wall looks pretty sturdy." Liam pointed out.
"No problem! I'll just have Riptide give it a good Mud Bomb and-"
"Hold on!" I cut off Natalie. "This could be a good chance for some training! Vivillon, wanna try Solarbeam again?"
"Vivillon!" She cheered as she flew next to me.
"Solarbeam? In here?" Liam scratched the side of his head in confusion.
"It will take forever to charge up." Natalie pointed out.
"The reflecting light will provide us with plenty of energy." I reassured them. "Okay Vivillon, use Solarbeam!"
"Viiiiii!" Vivillon's wings began to glow again, but they just faded again.
"Don't give up! Let's try again." I spread my arms out. "Spread your wings really wide and just bask in the light."
"Vi. Viiiii..." Vivillon'd wings glowed again, only brighter and longer this time, but it just faded again.
"It will be even harder to get to work in here." Natalie sighed.
"Well, well, well, what's going on here?"
We all snapped round behind us to see...what was I looking at?
There was a duo there, one male, one female, and they looked REALLY stupid. They're hair was red and styled into what looked like whipped cream, with the girls in double ponytail style. Both wore orange sunglasses IN A CAVE with weird orange looking outfits with a symbol on the front that looked like a red wispy flame.
"Who are you!?" Liam demanded.
"Us?" The guy said. "We are the creators of beauty..."
"The weavers of wonder..." The girl followed up.
"The muscle of brute force..."
"The grace of teamwork..."
"I am Spark!" The guy said.
"I am Passion!" The girl said.
"And we are...the Team Flare Ultimate Duo!" They finished together in a pose.
We just stood there looking at each other in silence for a minute.
"...That was lame." I finally said.
The two fell over comically before getting up again. "How could you call that lame!?" Spark shouted in shock.
"It shows the power and beauty of Team Flare!" Passion yelled in anger.
"Are you Team Rocket ripoffs or something?" I asked, making them fall over again.
"We're not ripoffs!" Spark cried.
"We're amazing!" Passion added.
"Not really." Liam stated.
"Just a waste of time." Natalie shot them down, and all the pokemon nodded in agreement.
"WHAT!?" Both of them yelled as they gained depressed auras.
"What are you doing here anyway?" Natalie raised the big question.
That made both of them jump to their feet. "I'm so glad you asked." Spark smirked.
"Our boss gave us the task of finding a fossil in this Glittering Cave to bring back and revive." Passion told us as she clasped her hands with sparkles in her eyes. "Just think, a prehistoric pokemon working with us to make the world beautiful..."
"And it'll make us a lot stronger too!" Spark declared. "With an ancient pokemon on our side Team Flare will be unstoppable! HAHAHAHAHA!"
"What a couple of weirdoes..." All three of us sweatdropped along witg our pokemon.
"But we actually have to thank you, looks like you've done most of the work for us." Spark grinned.
"So you can just move along while we get our fossil." Passion said.
"No way!" "Froak!" Me and Froakie countered. "I don't care who you are or who you work for, but we're going to find some fossils!"
"Always the hard way..." Passion sighed.
"Ah well, can't be helped." Spark shrugged as they both got out pokeballs. "Okay Houndour, move those kids!"
"Purrloin, go get 'em!" Passion cheered.
"Houndoooour!" "Purrrrrrloin!" The two pokemon cried as they emerged out of their pokeballs.
"Wanna battle huh?" I looked at my partner. "Ready Froakie?"
"Froak!" He nodded.
"Honedge!" Suddenly Honedge floated in front of me, and pointed at itself with its cloth arm. "Hon! Edge! Honedge Hon!"
"Huh? YOU wanna fight Honedge?" I said in disbelief, to which he nodded. "But you have a type disadvantage against both of them..." I looked at Honedge to see a fiery determination in its eye. "...Okay, I trust you Honedge, show 'em you spirit!"
"Honedge!" He nodded and floated over, bowing to his opponents before unsheathing himself, revealing his shining silver blade.
"Whismur! Let's do it!" Liam threw a pokeball which opened to let the whisper pokemon out.
"Whisss!" It cried as it faced it's opponents.
"You guys keep those two busy!" Natalie told us as she sent out Riptide, her Marshtomp. "We'll get through this wall in the meantime!"
"Alright! Honedge! Use Slash!"
"Hooooonedge!" Brandishing it's body, Honedge swung it self not only powerfully, but at lightning speed, slashing Hondour in the side and making it cry out in pain.
"Purrloin! Use Night Slash!" Passion commanded.
"Puuuuurr!" A shadowy aura in the shape of a claw formed around Purrloin's paw.
"Whismur! Use Pound!" Liam shouted.
"Whiiiismur!" The two attacks collided and cancelled each other out.
"You little...!" Spark snarled. "Hondour! Melt that sword down with Flamethrower!"
"Houuuundouuuur!" Hondour barked as it breathed hot fire all over Honedge!
"Honedge!" I shouted in shock, but when the smoke cleared practically everyone's eyes widened.
Honedge used its scabbard as a shield!
"Woah, never seen a pokemon do something like that before..." "Lune..." "Marsh..." Natalie and her pokemon gasped.
"That's amazing, Honedge!" I praised him. "Okay, now use Shadow Sneak!"
Honedge gently rested its scabbard on the ground as its cloth arm turned all shadowy. "HoooonEDGE!" Honedge's shadow arm stretched over and socked Hondour in the jaw!
"So cool!" "Froakie!' Me and my partner praised Honedge as his cloth arm returned to normal and h e picked up his scabbard.
"Whismur! Use Flamethrower!" I sure was surprised when Whismur used the same move against Purrloin.
"Stop it with Shadow Ball!" Purrloin generated an orb of shadows between its paws that it threw at the fire, cancelling each other out.
"Whismur! Use Attract!"
"Whiswhiwhismur!" Whismur winked (I think) sending lots of pink hearts at Purrloin before they fell down on it, having no affect though. "What happened?"
"Errr, is your Purrloin male?" I spoke up.
"Of course not! She is female!" Passion shrieked.
"So...that means..." Spark said, making us all look at Whismur.
"IT'S A GIRL!?" We all screamed.
"Of course! I can't believe you didn't notice that!" Liam said, making us all fall over comically.
"W-Well it doesn't matter!" Passion said angrily. "Use Shadow Ball again!"
"Whismur! Protect!" Whismur created a green forcefield around itself that blocked the attack.
"Houndour! Use Bite!" Houndour leapt at Honedge fangs open.
"Honedge! Use Autotomize!" Honedge's body glowed silver and it dodged Hondour easily with increased speed.
"Purrloin! Use Taunt!"
"Purr, Purr, Purr, Purr, Puuuuurrloiiin!" Purrloin began pulling faces and making fun of Whismur, getting her riled up.
"Whismur! Whis! Whismur!" Whismur shouted as it recklessly charged in with a Pound.
"Now use Shadow Ball!" Purrloin launched another Shadow Ball that hit Whismur full on!
"Whismur!" Liam cried in worry, but Whismur wasn't hurt, she was MAD!
"Whis! Whismur! WHISMUR!" Whismur shouted in anger.
When she started glowing.
"Wait...don't tell me..." I said with a hint of worry knowing its evolutionary line.
But yep, it was happening, Whismur grew bigger with more rounded ears and longer and bulkier limbs, the light faded to reveal a Loudred. "LOOOOOOUDREEEEED!" The pokemon screamed at the top of it's lungs.
'Oh no...a Loudred...' I grimaced inwardly, rubbing my aching ears and getting out my Pokedex.
'Loudred, the Big Voice Pokemon. Loudred shouts so loud it can topple a truck by inhaling and exhaling using its powerful stomach muscles.'
Did I mention I'm hypersensitive? Basically, loud noises...aren't pleasant for me.
The now bigger Loudred glared down at the Purrloin, making it back away nervously. "LOUDREEEEED!" Everyone covered their ears as Loudred used a massive Hyper Voice, knocking Purrloin out, and nearly me as well!
"Awesome, Loudred! You evolved and learned Hyper Voice!" Liam cheered.
"LOUDRED!" Loudred screamed happily, my poor ears...
"H-Honedge." I said as I shook off the noise. "Time to wrap it up! Use Aerial Ace!"
"Hoooonedge! Edge! Edge! Edge!" Honedge zipped around Hondour extremelly fast thanks to its earlier Autotomize, when suddenly it stopped. And began sheathing itself.
"What? It didn't even do anything! How pathetic! Hahahaha!" "Houndououououour!" Spark and his pokemon laughed.
Honedge had almost finished sheathing itself.
Clink.
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
As soon as Honedge sheathed itself Houndour was powerfully slashed three times, it stood frozen for a second, then the impacts caught jp with it and it instantly fainted.
"HUH!? HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!?" Spark screamed as Honedge just bowed to him before floating over to me.
"Looks like you lose." Liam smirked as Loudred stood beside him.
"No way! We aren't done yet!" Both yelled.
"Vi!" Vivillon perched on my shoulder. "Vi! Vivillon! Vi!"
I nodded. "Gotcha, take 'em out with Solarbeam Vivillon!"
"Viviiiiii..." Vivillon flew upwards and began charging.
"Solarbeam!? In here!? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard! Hahahaha!" Spark began laughing again.
"Viviiiiiiiiii!" Suddenly green energy began forming in front of Vivillon's mouth, quickly growing into a ball of emerald power.
"Huh?" I gasped.
"Is that-?" Natalie started.
"ViiiiiviiiiiLOOOOON!" Vivillon shot the attack at the two, creating an explosion and sending them and their pokemon up and out of Glittering Cave.
"Team Rocket wannabes..." I huffed before turning to Vivillon. "Vivillon, that was great! What was that!?"
Natalie came over clapping. "Congratulations, your Vivillon's learned Energy Ball."
"Energy Ball?...Wow Vivillon! Now we'll beat Grant for sure!" I cheered.
"Vivillon!" "Froakie!" "Honedge!" My pokemon cheered.
"And Loudred! We're gonna be even stronger now!" Liam smiled.
"LOUDRED!" Loudred agreed.
"And now for the grand unveiling!" Natalie announced as she pointed to Riptide. "Mud Bomb time, Riptide!"
"Marsh! MarrrrrshTOMP!" Riptide spat large globs of mud at the wall, knocking it down!
"All right!" I cheered, when suddenly the cavern started shaking. "Woah! What's going on!?"
"Froak!" Froakie pointed upwards at large boulders that were about to fall on and crush us!
"Get down!" Liam yelled and we all hit the deck, but the rocks didn't hit us, no matter how long I waited.
I looked up to see Ralts and Nightrise holding up the debris with Confusion and Psychic respectively.
"Phew, thanks Ralts." Liam thanked his pokemon.
"Great job, Nightrise." Natalie also praised her pokemon.
"Yeah, you really saved us." I told them both as I walked into the now open cavern, and my eyes widened yet again.
Half of the now opened, small cavern was completely made of ice, whilst the other half was made out of hardened lava! "This is amazing!" I marvelled as I looked at the hardened magma.
Then I noticed something in it. "What's this?" I scraped away at it to make something fall into my arms, it was a large rocks with what looked like a set of jaws imprinted on it-"I found a fossil! Woohoo!" I cried as my pokemon cheered with me.
"What!? Really!?" Liam asked as he looked at me with his three pokemon.
"Ahhhh! YES! I found a Sail Fossil!" Natalie shrieked as she held it up triumphantly.
I couldn't believe it! We'd done it! Everyone would be so proud of us!

"You RAN OFF!?"
"Ahhh! I'm sorry!"
We had returned to the Fossil Lab (where apparently a lot had gone on) where I had to deal with a mad Big Sis. "I was really worried you know!"
"I know! I know! I'm really really sorry!" I bowed frantically as I also had to comfort a crying Chimchar.
"Wow, I didn't know Elliot could get so scared of Alexa." Ash said in bewilderment.
"Oh yeah, Alexa's definitely the more authorative one." Serena smiled nervously.
Alexa sighed. "What am I going to do with you?...Well for starters let me see those fossils."
I obediently handed over the fossil I found and wrestled the Natalie's away from her, I'd choose her wrath over Big Sis'.
"What do you think, Professor?" Alexa turned to Thadeus.
Thadeus examined them for a minute before nodding. "Yes, these are definitely fossils, and this one is without a doubt a Sail Fossil."
"Yes!" Natalie fist pumped as Alexa handed our treasures back to us.
"So can we revive them!" My heart was racing at the thought of having a prehistoric pokemon on our team.
Thadeus smiled nervously. "Yes but...I'm sorry to inform you that the Restoration Machine has been transported to Cyllage City."
"...WHAAAAAAT!?" Me and Natalie yelled at the same time.
"Yes, it's gone for testing and examination by Grant himself." Thadeus chuckled.
"...Well, at least we're heading there..." I sighed, as Chimchar had stopped crying and was trying to carry my fossil.
"Yeah! Cyllage Gym is so close!" "Pikachu!" Ash and Pikachu cheered.
"Thank you for all your help today, and good luck reviving those fossils." Thadeus smiled.
Alexa looked at me. "All right, I gotta go and file this report, Elliot, you stay out of...you know what? Never mind." She shrugged with an exasperated smile. "Just promise you'll be careful little brother."
"Promise, Big Sis." I smiled as we had a quick hug.
"Froak!" " Char!" "Tile!" The three pokemon said they're own goodbyes, and we were soon on the road again.
"Chiiim..." Chimchar poked my fossil with childish curiosity.
"I ccan't believe you actually managed to find fossils all by yourselves!" Clemont said enthusiastically.
"We'll have our very own Amaura soon!" "Denne, Denne!" Bonnie and Dedenne cheered.
"I wonder which one will come from Elliot's fossil though?" Serena pondered.
I smiled at her. "I thought you weren't interested in 'regular rocks'?" And that made us all laugh.
Next Time: Elliot's battle with Grant has finally arrived! Will he be able to surmount the Rock Type Gym Leader? and will his pokemon be strong enough to overcome the walls of challenges they face?
