Chapter 13: Scaling the Cliffs!

"We're finally at Cyllage City!" Serena declared as we strode into the seaside/cliffside town.

"Yay! We made it!" Bonnie cheered.

Yes, after having to help some Skrelp and Dragalge on the way, we had made it to Cyllage City for mine and Ash's second Gym Battle.

"There it is, Pikachu." Ash grinned.

"Pikapika!" Pikachu cheered.

"This is it, Froakie! Our battle with Grant! Time to restore our family honour!" I raised my fist up.

"Froakie!" My partner copied me.

"Your still on about that?" Natalie sighed with a half-lidded look.

"Luna..." Nightrise just shook her body in exasperation.

"Hey! I gotta have a Gym Battle with Grant too!" Liam told us.

"I can't wait to go and challenge Grant so we can beat the Cyllage City Gym!" Ash fist-pumped.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu agreed.

"Of course Ash is excited to win." Serena smiled.

"Well none of you have won yet. Grant's a pretty tough Gym Leader, so make sure your prepared." Natalie warned us.

"'Kay you guys! Let's step on it!" Ash announced as he began running off.

"Huh!? Ash! Where are you going!? The Gym isn't that way!" Serena called after him, making him screech to a stop.

"It isn't?" He called back.

"She's right." Natsalir nodded, pointing to the mountains. "Grant's Gym is up there in those mountains."

"Up there, huh? Alright! Let's go!" "Pika!" Ash and his partner resumed their stride.

"You guys go on ahead, we're gonna try and find the Fossil Restoration machine." I told them.

"Okay! Good luck you two!" Ash grinned.

"Climb up a mountain!? Aww..." Clemont groaned before dragging himself along, followed by Serena, Bonnie and Liam.

"...So, er...where would you put a Fossil Restoration Machine?" I turned to Natalie and Nightrise.

OCXY

"WHAAAAAAT!? IT'S BEEN MOVED AGAIN!?"

"I'm very sorry you didn't get here in time." The Professor said. "But it was sent down the route only a few hours ago."

"Oh man..." Me and Natalie sighed along with our pokemon.

"So now what do we do?" I asked Natalie.

"I thought it was obvious. Go to the Gym and then go after the machine."

OCXY

We walked up the mountain to a little cave entrance, we walked iinto it until we came to a huge room with cliffs and a large hole at the top, the cliffs were the type you play on, and had those handholds on it.

"What's this?" "Froak?" We thought aloud.

"It's a cliff wall, you have to climb to the top to battle Grant." Natalie explained. "Since this is my second time though, I get to take the elevator." She and Nightrise walked over to an elevator and got in.

"I'm not the best at climbing..." I sighed.

"Froak..." Froakie nodded in agreement as he hopped onto the wall, going solo.

"Yeah, like I'm gonna let you beat me." I smiled as I started climbing as well, before realising Froakie had used Reverse Psychology on me.

The climb up was agonizing, and it didn't help that I almost fell off several times. But I finally managed to reach the top, crawling on.

"Hah...hah...Grant!...Hah...I'm here to...hah...give me a sceond." I gasped for air before talking again. "I'm here to...defeat you...and bring honour back to my families name!"

"Frooooooakie!" Froakie declared dramatically.

Literally everyone just stared at us dumbly. "Wow! That was so cool!" Bonnie praised.

"Well...it was dramatic..." Clemont nervously smiled.

Grant just nodded. "Of course Elliot, Ash just gave me a good battle, so I'm looking forward to battling you."

"Yes!" "Froak!" We cheered.

"Um, Elliot!" I looked over at Liam, who was waving his hand frantically at me. "I bagsied to go next!"

"Damnit! I can't defeat the bagsie!" Froak!" Me and Froakie gained fiery auras of rage as we stomped over to the sidelines.

"Hey, Elliot, Ash won his battle, I hope you do well too." Serena said.

"Oh! Well done Ash." I smiled, losing my previous menacing aura.

"Thanks, Elliot." "Pika!" They smiled.

"The battle between the challenger, Liam, and the Gym Leader, Grant, will now begin!" The referee announced. "The Gym Leader will use only two pokemon, whilst the challenger will use all available pokemon!"

"Wait, all of Liam's pokemon?" I gasped.

"Yeah, that's how Grant's Gym Battle works." Natalie explained. "He told me it creates a bigger wall for him to surmount."

Just then, Chimchar popped out of his pokeball. "Chimchar!"

"Oh, hey Chimchar." "Froak!" We greeted him.

"Chimchar, do you wanna watch with me and Dedenne?" "Denne denne?" The pair offered.

"ChimCHAR!" The fire type agreed as Bonnie cuddled him, allowing him to see the battle.

"All right, Onix! Let's go!" Grant called as he threw a pokeball.

"Grooooooooarh!" The familiar rock snake roared.

"Foongus! Let's go!" Liam cried.

"Foooooon!" The Shiny Foongus appeared with a sparkle.

"Wow! A Foongus! A good choice against Onix." Clemont smiled.

"It looked all sparkly when it came out of its pokeball!" Bonnie said with her own eye sparkles.

"That's because Foongus is a Shiny Pokemon." I explained.

"Alright! Begin!"

The Second Cyllage Gym Battle!

Grant and Onix+1 pokemon vs. Liam and Foongus+5 pokemon

"Let's do this, Foongus! Use Energy Ball!"

"Fooooongus!" Foongus fired an Energy Ball like Vivillon's, though slightly smaller.

"Onix, use Flash Cannon!"

Onix roared as it fired a Flash Cannon, whilst the rock snake leaned away from the Energy Ball, the Flash Cannon hit Foongus dead on, the small pokemon shook itself to stay conscious.

"That's the same strategy Grant used against Ash's Froakie." Clemont noted.

"Wait, has Liam done any training for this battle?" Serena asked.

"Umm...I haven't SEEN him do any training." I admitted.

"Froakie..." Froakie sighed.

"Ngh! Foongus! Sludge Bomb!" Foongus sucked in a load of air before firing bombs of sludge at Onix.

"Onix! Dodge!" Grant commanded.

Onix once again leaned from side to side to avoid the rapid attack. "Onix appears to be predicting Foongus' moves..." Natalie murmured.

"Sunny Day!"

"FoooooooooonGUS!" Foongus fired a bright ball into the sky that turned into a bright light.

"Use Iron Tail!" Grant shouted, making Onix's tail glow white and knock Foongus away.

"Now, Solarbeam!" Liam yelled, making Foongus quickly charge up energy.

"Counter with Flash Cannon!" Onix fired another attack, the two beams collided with a large explosion, creating a huge debris cloud. As it cleared Onix panted heavily, but Foongus had swirled eyes.

"Foongus is unable to battle! Onix is the winner!" The referee announced.

"Oh man! Sorry Foongus..." Liam sighed as he returned the only pokemon he had that had a type advantage.

"...At least he tried." Was all I said as the rest sighed in exasperation.

"Next up! Braixen!"

"Braiiiiiixen!" The Shiny Braixen yelled.

"BRAIXEN!?" Everybody yelled.

"He must be focusing on Braixen's Psychic type..." I suggested.

"I guess that could work." Clemont thought aloud.

"Braixen could have a secret move up its sleeve." "Lune." Natalie and her pokemon nodded.

"Braixen! Use Flamethrower!" Liam commanded, making Braixen fire flames from its wand.

"...Maybe not." All three of us sighed.

"Onix! Dodge it!" Once again Onix just leaned to the side. "Now use Flash Cannon!" Onix fired its deadly attack uyet again.

"Use Light Screen!"

"Braix!" Braixen was put in a glowing square box that blocked the Flash Cannon.

"Now use Fire Pledge!" Braixen placed its stick to the ground, making fire pillars erupt around Onix, burning it up before the flames faded away.

"Awesome counterattack!" Ash praised.

"Though it didn't do much damage..." Natalie pointed out.

"Onix! Use Rock Tomb!" Grant called, making Onix unleash its signature technique on Braixen, rocks falling towards the Shiny.

"Braixen! Throw them back with Psychic!" "Braiiiiiiix!" Braixen's eyes and the rocks glowed blue before stopping and being thrown back towards Onix.

'At least he found a counter for Rock Tomb.' I thought, and I think Froakie was thinking the same thing.

"Onix! Knock it back with Iron Tail!" Grant shouted.

"Groaaaaarh!" Onix's tail glowed white and it began knocking the rocks back at Braixen.

"Now Onix is copying Pikachu!" Serena gasped.

Whatever the case, it worked, several Rock Tombs crashed into Braixen, knocking it out. "Braixen is unable to battle! Onix is the winner!"

"Now Liam has lost two pokemon." "Denne." "Chim." Bonnie pouted, along with Dedenne and Chimchar.

"Wonder what number three's gonna be?" Ash thought aloud.

"Gulpin! Your up!" Liam threw his next pokeball out.

"Gulllll..." The pokemon yawned with a dull look on its face.

"Gulpin, huh?" I said. "Wonder what-"

"Solarbeam! Quickly!" Liam cut me off as Gulpin charged quickly.

'Guess he wants to use the last of the Sunny Day...' I thought as Gulpin fired a Solarbeam.

"Onix! Use Rock Polish!" Onix's body sharpened and shined, before leaning with its increased speed to dodge the Solarbeam, as the Sunny Day faded away.

"Slow it down with Ice Beam!" Liam shouted.

"Gullll..." Gulpin yawned, releasing a blue bolt from its mouth that froze Onix's tail to the ground.

"Jump and use Rock Tomb!" Onix did what it did when it battled Viola's Surskit, completely trapping the derpy Gulpin. "Now! Flash Cannon!"

"Counter with Gunk Shot!" Gulpin swelled to impossible levels, spitting out a load of junk at the Flash Cannon and creating an explosion that made both pokemon skid back.

"Iron Tail!" Onix's tail glowed white and it slammed it down on top of Gulpin, squashing the poor pokemon before it popped back up like putty, looking severely beaten.

"Gulpin! You alright?" Liam called, although, even though it was weakened, it still looked bored, until it started glowing blue.

"No way!" Ash gasped.

"Another evolution!?" Me and Natalie said.

Gulpin grew bigger and bigger, growing a small moustache as the feather on its head disappeared, the light burst, revealing a Swalot. "Swaaaaaaaaalot." Swalot gaped.

"A Swalot, huh?" I got out my pokedex.

'Swalot, the Poison Bag pokemon. It swallows anything using its special enzymes, and sweats toxic fluids to douse foes.'

"SwaaaaaaLOT!" Swalot suddenly jumped into the air and slammed onto the ground, making the whole battlefield shake.

"Swalot just used Earthquake!" Clemont yelled as we all held on to the railing for dear life.

Onix looked definitely shaken from the powerful attack, and I don't think it could stay conscious for much longer. Then Swalot began charging something in its mouth before firing a powerful beam from its huge mouth that hit Onix dead on. "Swalot learned Hyper Beam!" I shouted, the second powerful attack was too much for Onix and it finally fainted.

"Onix is unable to battle! Swalot is the winner!" The referee declared.

"Thank you Onix, take a good rest." Grant returned Onix before pulling out a second pokeball. "Your Swalot evolving was a good stroke of luck, but your luck has run out! Go Tyrunt!"

"Tyruuuuuunt!" The prehistoric pokemon roared as it popped out.

"No way! He has a Tyrunt!?" Me and Liam gasped, the only pokemon I had ever seen Grant use at the Battle Chateau was Onix. Not wanting to miss the chance I got out my pokedex.

'Tyrunt, the Royal Heir Pokémon. Tyrunt's jaws are so big and powerful, it can crunch up a car. If it doesn't like something, it responds with a wild tantrum.'

Natalie smiled. "I was shocked too, guess Grant took the Restoration Machine for a test drive."

"Well, ancient pokemon or not, we're gonna win! Swalot! Use Sludge Bomb!...Swalot?" We all looked at Swalot to see it slumped in exhaustion.

"I guess Swalot used up most of it's energy with Hyper Beam." Clemont sighed.

"I hope you don't mind, but we'll take the chance." Grant warned Liam. "Tyrunt! Draco Meteor!"

"TyyyyyyyyRUNT!" Tyrunt shot a golden sphere into the sky that exploded into loads of meteors that rained down over the entire battlefield. As the dust cleared heavy smoke was billowing out of Swalot's mouth as its eyes became swirls.

"Swalot is unable to battle! Tyrunt is the winner!"

"Well, now what?" Was all Bonnie could ask as Liam returned Swalot. And I honestly had no idea.

"I know you can do this! Ralts! Here we go!" Liam threw his next pokeball which popped open to reveal his Ralts, which examined the situation.

"Alright! Ralts is a good choice." I nodded.

"Really? Why?" Ash asked.

"Ralts' are Fairy-Types, so they have an advantage over Dragon and half Dragon-Types like Tyrunt." Clemont explained.

"Right...wait, RALTS IS A FAIRY-TYPE!?" "PIKA!?" I just facepalmed, they were obviously from Kanto.

"Ralts! Use Calm Mind!" Ralts nodded as it crossed its arms, its body glowing as it went into deep thought.

"Looks like he's trying to finish it off quickly Natalie noted.

"Tyrunt! Use Rock Tomb!" Rocks floated around Tyrunt before being launched at Ralts instead of just falling on it.

"Throw 'em back with Psychic!" Ralts did the same trick Braixen had done and surrounded Tyrunt with its own rocks, but all the prehistoric pokemon had to do was jump over them.

'What incredible jumping, it must be those powerful legs.' I thought, examining its body structure.

"Now use Crunch!" Tyrunt's fangs glowed white as it charged towards Ralts with the super effective move.

"Ralts! Attract!" Pink hearts appeared around Ralts bedore floating over to Tyrunt. Tyrunt stopped and looked at them in confusion until they floated into him, making him go all lovey dovey.

"Ah! Tyrunt!" Grant gasped.

"So Ralts can use Attract!" Serena squealed.

"Guess that was his trump card." Natalie approved.

"Follow up with Magical Leaf!" Ralts' arms glowed green as it shot loads of multicoloured glowing leaves at Tyrunt, knocking it back a bit. "Psychic!" Tyrunt was then picked up and thrown into a rock.

Grant gritted his teeth. "Tyrunt! Snap out of it and use Rock Tomb!"

Tyrunt was still in love, but it fired the move nonetheless, the rocks took Ralts by surprise and it was quickly trapped and battered by the rocks.

"Ralts! Hang tough!" Liam cheered his pokemon on.

"R-Ralts..." It said weakly.

"Alright Tyrunt, let's wrap it up with Crunch!" Tyrunt nodded as it charged at Ralts with glowing fangs.

"Tyyyyyyyruuuuuunt!" As Tyrunt closed in for the finishing blow, Ralts began...no frikkin way.

"Two evolutions in one battle!?" "Pika!?" "Froak!?" "Luna!?" "Denne!?" "Chim?" All of us screamed in disbelief, except for Chimchar who didn't really get the fuss.

Ralts gre slightly taller as she 'bloomed' a skirt, her one potrusion turning into two as her physique became more agile, the light faded to reveal a Kirlia. "Kirlia!"

"Wow! Your a Kirlia now!" Luke smiled.

"Tyyyyy-!" Tyrunt wasn't fazed, and continued its charge.

"KiiiiiiirLIA!" Kirlia suddenly released a powerful pink light accompanied with diamond shards that battered Tyrunt.

We all shielded our eyes from the attack. "Woah! What kinda move is that!?" "Pika!?" Ash and Pikachu yelled.

"It's Dazzling Gleam! A powerful Fairy-Type attack!" Clemont shouted in astonishment.

As the light finally faded we could all plainly see Tyrunt lying against a rock with swirled eyes. "Tyrunt is unable to battle! Kirlia is the winner! And the victory goes to the challenger Liam!"

"Yes! You did it Kirlia! You really did it!" "Kirlia!" Liam and his pokemon cheered.

Grant returned Tyrunt as he walked over to Liam. "Well done, you and your pokemon fought very well, and you showed your strong bond with your pokemon. So, as Gym Leader, I give you the Cliff Badge."

"Thank you." Liam smiled as he recieved the badge. "All right! A Cliff Badge! It's mine to keep!"

"Well done Liam." Serena smiled.

"You and your pokemon dought well." Clemont nodded.

"Thanks guys." Liam chuckled.

Me, however, I was just walking up to Grant with Froakie and Chimchar. "And now WE battle, right?" "Froakie?" "Chimchar?"

Grant grinned. "Of course, just let me heal my pokemon."

OCXY

"The Gym Battle between the Gym Leader Grant and challenger Elliot is about to begin! The same rules as the previous battle apply!"

"Alright Onix! One more time!" Grant threw the pokeball, releasing the giant rock snake once more. "So Elliot, are you gonna show me how strong you and your family are?"

"Your darn right I will!" I said as I reached for a pokeball.

"Chimchar! Chihihimchar!" Chimchar cheered as he hopped onto the battlefield.

I sighed. "Chimchar..."

"Chim?" He turned to me.

I knelt down in front of him. "I'm really sorry, but I'm not going to be using you for this battle."

"Chim!?"

"You see, Rock-Types are strong against Fire-Types, and I don't want to see you get hurt."

"Chiiim...CHIIIIMCHAAAAR!" He burst into tears again.

"Oh Chimchar." I sighed as I picked him up and carried him to the sidelines. "Bonnie, would you mind holding onto Chimchar?"

"Don't worry, Elliot! Bonnie will take care of him!" She reassured me as she held onto Chimchar. "Don't worry Chimchar, we'll just cheer really really loudly, right?"

"Chim...? Chim!" He seemed happy with that idea.

I walked back to my spot and got out my pokeball. "Alright, Honedge! Show 'em your spirit!"

"HonEDGE!" The sword pokemon cried as it emerged from the pokeball.

"Wow, it's Honedge!" "Pika!" Ash smiled.

"Elliot's made a very good choice here." Clemont nodded. "Honedge is part Steel-Type, meaning all of Onix's moves won't do much damage against it."

"Now! Battle begin!"

The Third Cyllage Gym Battle!

Grant and Onix+1 pokemon vs. Elliot and Honedge+Froakie+2 pokemon

"Alright! Looks like we'll start!" I smiled. "Honedge! Use Slash!"

"HoooooonEDGE!" Honedge's blade glowed brightly before slashing Onix, though the rock snake was unaffected.

"Why would Elliot command Honedge to use a move that has little effect on Onix?" Clemont thought aloud, whilst Natalie and Liam just looked on in deep thought.

"I certainly didn't expect a move like that." Grant laughed. "Onix! Flash Cannon!"

"Grooooa..." Onix began charging its attack.

"Honedge! Block it with your scabbard!" Honedge nodded and held its scabbard up as a shield, blocking the Flash Cannon and sweeping away the impact smoke.

"Wow! What a great idea!" Serena squealed.

"Go Honedge!" "Denne!" "Chimchar!" Our trio of cheerleaders yelled.

"Honedge! Now use Aerial Ace!" "Hooooon! Edge! Edge! Edge!" Honedge struck Onix several times with its fast attack, but once again Onix didn't even flinch.

"I don't get it, why does Elliot keep getting Honedge to use uneffective attacks?" Liam groaned.

"Onix! Rock Tomb!" Onix unleashed its signature attack on Honedge!

"Knock them away!" Using its scabbard like a bat Honedge smacked all the falling boulders away.

"Use Iron Tail!"

"Block it!" As Onix raised its glowing tail Honedge once again defended, though was pushed back a bit.

"Your Honedge's scabbard makes a very impressive shield." Grant praised me. "But the way I see it, it's just another wall for me and Onix to climb."

I smirked. "And we'll make sure we're the toughest ever to climb! Honedge! Use Shadow Sneak!" Honedge nodded and threw its scabbard into the air as a feint. As Onix looked up at it Honedge's cloth arm turned shadowy black and it stretched out, hitting Onix full on and doing some pretty noticeable damage.

"I've never seen a Shadow Sneak like that before!" Clemont gasped.

"Yeah, doesn't Shadow Sneak involve using your shadow to attack your opponents back?" Liam asked.

"Normally yes." Natalie agreed. "But Honedge appears to be very noble, I don't think it believes in attacking from behind."

"A good move." Grant nodded. "Onix! Use Rock Polish!" Onix once again shimmered and sharpened.

Honedge's cloth turned back to normal and it caught its scabbard. "Your not the only ones who can increase speed! Use Autotomize!" Honedge glowed silver and the sound of gears grinding could be heard as Honedge's speed increased.

"Oh really?" Grant flashed a grin. "Rock Polish again!"

"Autotomize again!" The two pokemon increased their speed again.

"Rock Polish!"

"Autotomize!"

By the third increase the two pokemon were zipping around each other at incredible speeds. "Look at them go!" Ash exclaimed.

"Alright Onix, now use Iron Tail!"

"Clash with Slash, Honedge!"

The two pokemon began swiping at each other, clashing and breaking away, dodging and weaving and looking for openings. "I've never seen a battle like this before!" Clemont marvelled.

"It's like an actual swordfight." Natalie said.

"So cooool!" "Denneeeee!" "Chiiiiiiim!" The trio went sparkly eyed.

"Iron Tail one more time!"

"Shadow Sneak!"

The two attacks collided in a burst of light, when it faded both were panting heavily from the fatigue. "Looks like Elliot's got this fight in the bag." Liam assured the spectators.

"Honedge! Return!" Honedge quickly turned into red light and was sucked into the pokeball. "You were so awesome out there Honedge, so take a nice long rest."

"What!? Why did you return Honedge!?" Liam shouted.

"Because Honedge was the most tired." I told him. "Using Slash, Honedge had to swing its whole body, whereas Onix only had to swing its tail to use Iron Tail. Honedge used up much more energy.

"Good decision." Grant backed me up. "So, which pokemon will you use now?"

I looked at my partner. "Okay, Froakie, your up! Show 'em your spirit!"

"Froak!" Froakie nodded as he hopped onto the battlefield.

"It's Froakie!" Bonnie smiled.

"Chimchaaaar!" Chimchar cheered.

"Looks like Elliot is focusing on type advantages." Ash pointed out.

"I'm not sure he's focusing on just types..." Natalie mumbled as Nightrise looked on eagerly.

"Froakie! Use Water Pulse!" "FroooooooaKIIIE!" Froakie generated an orb of water in his hands and threw it at Onix, who dashed oit of the way!

"Onix still has the effects of Rock Polish on its side." Clemont said. "Now it has the advantage in terms of size AND speed."

"Onix, Iron Tail!" Onix suddenly vanished and reappeared behind Froakie with a glowing tail!

"Froakie! Behind you!" I yelled.

"Fro? Froakie!?" Froakie narrowly avoided being smashed into the ground by the tail.

'That was too close.' I breathed a sigh of relief. "Froakie! Scale Onix!"

"Froak!" Froakie nodded in understanding.

"Throw Froakie into the air!" As soon as Froakie jumped onto the rocky tail it flicked upwards, tossing him into the air! "Now use Flash Cannon!"

"Oh no! Froakie's defenceless in the air!" Serena gasped.

"It's just like his battle with Viola!" Clemont gritted his teeth as the attack was fired at Froakie.

I just smiled though, and Froakie shared my smile. "Froakie! Spin to dodge!"

"Froakie!" Froakie spun his body, weaving around the Flash Cannon before landing back on the ground.

"What!?" Grant said in shock.

"Froakie...dodged!" Clemont's jaw dropped.

'Thanks, Dakota.' And that was genuine.

"I must admit, you just keep on surprising me." Grant chuckled. "Onix, use Rock Tomb!" Boulders fell towards Froakie.

"Froakie! Climb them!" "Froakie! Froakie! Froakie!" I watched as my partner leapt from rock to rock, advancing upwards.

"Ah, I see your using Ash's trick." Grant smirked. "But I'm prepared for it now. Use Rock Tomb again!"

Onix created a second rock lanside that threatened to sandwhich Froakie! "Froakie! Disorientate it with Quick Attack!"

"Froak!" Froakie used Quick Attack to hop from rock to rock, jumping over the new ones and confusing Onix.

"Onix, try to study Froakie's movements!" Grant called to his pokemon.

"Now Froakie! Bubble!" "Frooooooakiiiiie!" Froakie took a deep breath and blew energy bubbles into Onix's face, sending it crashing down with swirled eyes.

"Onix is unable to battle! Froakie is the winner!"

"Yes! Awesome job, Froakie!" I praised him.

"Froakie." He said proudly.

"Froakie did it!" "Chimchaaaar!" Bonnie and Chimchar celebrated.

"That Quick Attack sure has come a long way." "Pika!" Ash and Pikachu smiled.

"Onix, return!" Grant returned his pokemon. "Thanks, you fought great out there." He then looked at me. "Well, I think I can see why your sister talks so highly of you."

This actually took me by surprise. "Sis talked about me?"

"Of course! Sometimes you is what she'd ONLY talk about." He laughed. "And I wanna see more! Tyrunt, your up!" Once more the awesome Rock/Dragon type appeared.

"We'll show you, then! Froakie! Water Pulse!" "FrooooooaKIE!" Froakie threw another water orb at Tyrunt.

"Use Crunch!" Tyrunt opened its jaw wide and chomped down on the attack! Completely destroying it!

"It ate the Water Pulse!?" "Froak!?" Me and Froakie couldn't believe our eyes.

"Tyrunt's jaw is its main strength, its biting power is almost unmatched." Natalie said absentmindedly.

"Ngh...okay then...use Bubble!" Froakie took a deep breath and blew the attack at Tyrunt, who actually endured it, though it was pushed back slightly. "It's really strong...try Lick!" Froakie shot his long tongue at Tyrunt.

"Use Crunch!" Tyrunt's jaw opened, threatening to clamp down on Froakie's tongue!

"Froakie! Pull it back!" "Floklie!" Grabbing his tongue with both hands Froakie pulled his tongue back just in the nick of time.

"That was too close." Serena breathed a sigh of relief.

"Now use Rock Tomb!" "TyyyyyyyRUNT!" Tyrunt began firing boulders at Froakie.

"Jump to dodge!" Froakie did one of its impressive jumps and soared into the sky.

"I thought you'd do that." Grant smiled. "Use Draco Meteor!"

"Tyruuuuuunt!" Tyrunt fired another orb which exploded into raining mini meteors.

"Spin and dodge, Froakie!" I called up to him.

"Fro! Fro! Fro!" Froakie dodged all the meteors successfully.

"Catch Froakie out with Dragon Tail!" Green scales coated Tyrunt's tail as it leaped into the air after Froakie.

"Stop it with your Frubbles!" "Froakie!" Froakie grabbed a handful of Frubbles and threw them in Tyrunt's face, blinding it.

"Ty! Runt, Runt! Tyrunt!" Tyrunt shook its head in a panic as it took a blind swipe which unfortunately hit, knocking Froakie down and into a rock.

"Froakie!" I cried as Tyrunt landed and shook of the Frubbles.

"Froak..." Froakie got up, wincing a bit.

"...Hey Froakie! Come here!" I called, making him hop over to me.

"Froak." He sighed in accomplishment.

"You fought hard, so rest up, okay?" I told him as I got out a pokeball. "Alright then, Espurr! Show 'em your spirit!"

"Purr! Espurr!" Espurr purred as it handed me its pendant.

"Thanks Espurr, and do your best out there!" "Espurr!" The Psychic type nodded as she walked onto the battlefield.

"Espurr! Yaaaay! Good luck Espuuuuuurr!" "Denne denneeeee!" "Chihiiiiiiiimchaaaaar!" The three children cheered.

"Tyrunt! Use Crunch!" Tyrunt opened its jaw and charged at Espurr.

"Espurr! Use Disarming Voice!" I said as I covered my ears.

"Eeeeees...PUUUUUUURR!" Espurr unleashed its sound attack that easily sent Tyrunt crashing back into a boulder, where it got back up with a few bruises.

"Excellent!" Clemont nodded. "A Fairy-Type attack like Disarming Voice must have done a lot of damage."

"Jump and use Dragon Tail!" "Tyrunt!" Tyrunt did another impressive jump into the air before falling toward Espurr with its powered up tail.

"Quickly, Espurr! Protect!" "Espuuuurr!" Espurr created its green forcefield which pushed Tyrunt back.

"Now use Rock Tomb!" "TyRUNT!" Tyrunt began throwing boulders at Espurr.

"Stop them with Psychic!" Espurr did Braixen's trick.

"Another strategy I expected." Grant smiled as Tyrunt jumped through the rocks towards Espurr!

"Ah! Espurr! Use Disarming Voice!"

"Use Crunch!" Tyrunt was just too fast for Espurr, and it clamped its jaws down hard. Espurr fell out of Tyrunt's mouth with swirled eyes.

"Espurr is unable to battle! Tyrunt is the winner!"

"Espurr lost..." "Denne..." "Chim..." The three were instantly saddened.

"I don't think using previous tactics will work for Elliot anymore..." Natalie thought aloud.

"Espurr, return." Espurr was returned to its ball. "Thank you Espurr, you gave it your all. Don't worry, we're gonna finish this." I got out the pokeball I had been waiting for and held it out.

"Grant! This is the pokemon I've been waiting to use! And this one will win for us! Vivillon! Show 'em your spirit!" I threw the pokeball into the battlefield.

"Viiiiivillon!" Vivillon cried as she emerged.

"So it all comes down to this..." Liam mumbled.

"Elliot's definitely playing a risky game with Vivillon." Natalie sighed.

"A Vivillon? Now this is getting interesting." Grant said with a faraway look in his eyes.

"Me and Vivillon are gonna show you the power of Bug-Types, Grant!" "Vivillon!" Me and my pokemon declared.

"Very well, try and surmount us!" "Tyrunt!" Grant and Tyrunt shouted.

"Vivillon! Start strong with String Shot!" "Viiiiivillooooon!" Vivillon spat silk that covered Tyrunt's body.

"Use Crunch!" Tyrunt opened wide and simply chewed through the thread!

'Those jaws really are tough...' "Vivillon! Energy Ball!"

"ViiiiviLLON!" Vivillon generated an Energy Ball and fired it at Tyrunt.

"Crunch again!" Grant's pokemon just ate it like how it ate Froakie's Water Pulse!

I gritted my teeth. "Well here's a move you can't Crunch! Vivillon! Psybeam!" Vivillon's antenna glowed before firing a multicoloured beam that hit Tyrunt full on, causing it to struggle back up. "Alright! Now use Tackle!" Vivillon divebombed at Tyrunt.

"Don't get carried away, use Rock Tomb" Tyrunt threw boulders at Vivillon.

"Dodge it!" Vivillon carefully swooped around the boulders to avoid getting crushed.

"Now use Dragon Tail!" Tyrunt jumped towards Vivillon with the move, luckily Vivillon flapped back and narrowly missed the deadly tail.

"Tyrunt is really strong..." Serena mumbled.

"But there's no way Elliot can lose! They've trained so much for this!" "Pika!" Ash and Pikachu nodded.

"Use Draco Meteor!" "TyyyyyyRUNT!" Once againmeteors began raining down.

"Keep dodging, Vivillon!" I called to her as the meteors fell around her.

"Let's keep the pressure up with Rock Tomb!" Boulders were thrown into the mix, now Vivillon had to avoid meteors and boulders.

"Dodge! Dodge! Dodge!" I shouted desperately, but my eyes widened in horror as a rock hit Vivillon and smashed it into the ground.

"Vivillon!" "Froakie!" "Chiiiim!" Me and my pokemon cried. As the dust cleared Vivillon looked like she was struggling, and I saw why.

One of the rocks had fallen on top of Vivillon's wing! "No...Vivillon!"

"Oh no!" Serena gasped.

"It's wing is trapped!" Clemont stated the obvious.

"Vivillon...fire an Energy Ball back at yourself!" I told her.

"Vi! Viiiiiii...iiii...llon!" Vivillon tried, but she couldn't pull her head back far enough and launched the Energy Ball into a wall.

"Elliot! You have to return Vivillon!" Natalie called to me.

As much as I hated it, she was right. "Vivillon! Return!" But the beam of light didn't hot her, it hit the rocks! "What!? Return! Return! Return!" I tried again and again, but the beam just wouldn't reach.

"The rocks are stopping Vivillon from being returned..." Natalie hissed.

"I must admit, your Vivillon is strong...Tyrunt! Finish it with Dragon Tail!" Tyrunts tail glowed and it began charging.

'Damnit!' I cursed in my head. 'What can I do!?...Huh?' I looked at the rocks littered across the battlefield and nodded. 'Okay...it's my only chance!' "Vivillon! Fire an Energy Ball at the boulder to your right!"

"Vi?...Vi. Viiiiivillon!" Vivillon fired another Energy Ball that bkunced off the rock, then another, and another, before smashing into the rocks holding down Vivillon!

"It worked!" "Froak!" Me and Froakie cheered as Vivillon flew out of Tyrunt's range, albeit limply with its injured wing.

"He calculated that in just a few seconds!?" Clemont practically screamed in shock.

"Vivillon! Are you alright!?" She looked at me and nodded. "Okay, use String Shot to bind Tyrunt's jaw!" Vivillon fired more silk that binded Tyrunt's lower jaw to it's upper one.

"T-Tyrunt!" Grant gasped in shock.

"Let's wrap it up, Vivillon! Use Energy Ball!" "Viiiiiivillooooon!" Vivillon fired one more Energy Ball at Tyrunt.

"We're not done yet! Stop it with Rock Tomb!" Tyrunt fired rocks towards the Energy Ball.

"Vivillon! Grab the Energy Ball with String Shot!" Vivillon wrapped silk around the Energy Ball and pulled it out of the Rock Tomb's range.

"No way!" Everyone gasped.

"Now! Throw it back!"

"Viiiiiiiiiviiiiiiiillooooooooon!" Vivillon tossed the Energy Ball at Tyrunt, creating a huge explosion that covered the entire battlefield. When it finally cleared, Tyrunt lay in the middle with swirled eyes.

"Tyrunt is unable to battle! Vivillon is the winner! And the victory goes to Elliot!" The referee announced.

"We won!" "Froakie!" "Vivillon!" We cheered.

"Chimchaaar!" Chimchar cheered as he ran over to us.

I let out Honedge and Espurr. "Guess what guys? We won!" They both smiled before all of my pokemon collapsed in exhaustion. "Yeah, I guess you guys are pretty tired."

"Wow! That was so cool!" Ash marvelled along with Pikachu.

"Everyone was so cool!" Bonnie danced around happily.

"How did you do that?" Was all Clemont said.

"It certainly was close a couple of times." Serena looked overloaded with relief.

"Godd job, I think that's a battle I'll remember." "Lunatone." Natalie and Nightrise smiled.

"Me too! Good job!" Liam agreed.

Grant returned Tyrunt, thanked it, and walked over to us. "Great battle Elliot. So, do you think you've restored your family honour?"

"Oh, I wasn't serious about that." I told him, making my friends fall over comically. "I'm just glad I got to have such an awesome battle with you, and all of my pokemon helped! Even Chimchar, who cheered us on! So thank you."

Grant just stared at me blankly before bursting out into laughter. "Hey! What's so funny!?" I yelled.

"I'm sorry." Grant apologised. "It's just...you really are Viola's brother, you remind me of her so much." He then offered me the badge on a holder. "So then Elliot, I present to you the Cliff Badge, now you have something to show Viola."

I took the badge with a huge smile. "Thank you so much, Grant!"

"Yes! We got...the Cliff Badge!" "Froakie!" "Viiiivillon!" "Hon, Honedge!" "Espurrrrr!" "Chihihimchar!"

OCXY

After our trip to the Pokemon Centre, we were bidding farewell to Grant. "Good luck on your journey, the next Gym is in Shalour City."

"Thanks! See you again, Grant!" We began waving and walking off.

"Oh! And Elliot!" I turned around to look at him. "Get your title to Grand Duke at the Battle Chateau, so I can battle you again!"

I smiled. "Sure! See you again, Grant!"

"Froakiiiie!" Froakie waved.

And so we set off once again...

Next Time: The gang finally find the Fossil Restoration Machine and revive their fossils! However Elliot's prehistoric pokemon is a bit rowdier then he expected. Will he prove that he is worthy to be its trainer? Or will he fall to the bottom of the food chain?

Chapteeeer! Consider yourselves lucky guys! It's my birthday today and I somehow found time to do this!

Anyway, my question this fortnight is which battle did you think was more epic? Grant vs Liam? or Grant vs Elliot? Say why in a review!

Sorry but I gotta run! Birthday lunch time! Reviews are appreciated! Thank you for reading!
