Artemis's POV
Great. Why the hell are teenagers so impulsive and reckless? I swear not even the original team was this bad. When I find Blair she is so grounded, I'm not letting her out of my sight. All the other parents/mentors feel the same way. Let's just say there won't be very many team missions going on over the next few months seeing as most the team will be inactive.
I swear teenagers are the worst. It was fine when she was a kid all I had to do was bribe her with the promise of ice cream for dinner. Does that make me a bad parent? Anyway now she just locks herself away, or runs off half cocked. Do any of them know what an action plan is. Oh I am going to make the team's training hell when they get back.
If they get back. The little voice in my head whispers. No I can't think like that, they're smart kids and as long as they stick together they'll be fine.
Lian's POV
This plan was stupid from the beginning. The whole team got a lead on Blair, but for some stupid reason we took the batwing and flew to Adornovica to get reinforcements, that was Milargro's Idea, and we kind of have to listen to her seeing as she's the leader and all.
So we'd picked up some of Blair's old teammates and headed off to Austanburg. We were making plans, of what we'd do upon landing, we were checking out a small motel just outside Austanburg, it was the kind of place Blair would usually find to lay low. The Falcons that'd we'd picked up, Kate, Tate and Kent, for some reason that I was still unsure of. We were going to split into three groups, each would have a falcon with them, and then we'd split up into three, Kate would take a group, consisting of: the speedsters, Dawn and Don, Artie, and Taika, to Nik's last know location and work her way to the large clock tower in the middle of everything, we'd all meet back there after 3 hours, Milagro would take Tate, Gio and the super twins Will and Dianne to investigate where the prince had texted from last and Robin would lead a group including, Olive, myself and Kent to the sleazy hotel we think Blair is staying at.
It was doomed from the moment we dropped off Gamma or trois as the Falcons were so fond of calling it. Okay well maybe I'm exaggerating, the first five minutes went exactly to plan, which for our team is a new record. Robin hacked into the computer, to find the list of names of the people booked into the hotel, none of them stood out in particular to me, but Kent seemed to recognise one Leona Coppelius, he says it's to do with her favourite ballet, as he chuckles to himself. Obviously it was an inside joke that we didn't understand. He said we'd find her in that room for sure.
Room 407.
Robin was caught attempting to steal a key from the front desk, he had to use knock out gas, but he wasn't sure how long it would last so we had to be quick. We hurried up the narrow rickety staircase and I attempted to not cack myself as we were four stories up on a highly unstable staircase and I don't have any grappling arrow's left.
We unlock the door to the room or at least we go to and see that it's not even locked, Blair stood in the middle looking at a wall covered in coloured string and picture, and appeared to be arguing with herself she looked like she hadn't slept in weeks heavy purple bruise like backs hung heavily under her eyes like they had been there for years. Her skin looked pale and grey, her hair was greasy, and she looked like she needed a good meal. She appeared to be arguing with herself, unless there was somone invisible standing there. But I don't think that was the case. She then threw a bottle at the wall, the stench of scotch flew through the air.
"Shut up! You're wrong!" she screams at the space, my heart breaks watching this. She's completely lost her mind.
"Blair." Kent was the first to speak his voice was soft, like a one you'd use to calm down a screaming child.
She looks up dull green eyes, they've lost their life. Is this what love can do to a person destroy them from the inside out until they're just a shell. If that's the case I don't ever want to fall in love.
"Blair who were you talking to?" Kent asks.
"Amara. Can't you see her? she's back Kent. She's here making stupid comments about how I'm never going to find him, if she's stop making her stupid pessimistic comments and helped maybe I'll find him sooner. I'll find him, I know he's alive, I can feel it. Okay Nik's alive and even though you idiots may think otherwise, I'm going to prove it, Amara knows he's alive, she keeps telling me I'm looking in all the wrong places, I've tried everything, everywhere."
He looks like a kicked puppy at the mention of this Amara's name, Blair didn't tell us much about her
"B, Mara's dead, and you can't change that, nothing's going to change that." He says softly again, taking a small step towards her, she takes one back.
"What are you talking about, why can't you see her? Is she doing that stupid spell again, the one that makes her invisible to all that she doesn't reveal herself to?"
"Blair, she's gone." You can see his eyes watering now as he fights the tears, he wants to believe her, he wants to believe she's back, it's written all over his face, he very obviously loved her.
"She's right here." She says pointing to the empty space eyes wide, she completely and utterly believes the empty space next to her has a person in it.
"Blair, there's no one there."
"You have to believe me. She was right there." She says pointing, to the space again and again reciting this as if it's her mantra. Almost as if she's pleading with some God for this to be true.
"She was right…." She trails off and looks confused, tears well up. "She was right here. I swear. Oh my God, I'm losing my mind. Nothing real anymore." She says in between shaky breaths, she looks like she's on the verge of a panic attack.
"Shh It's okay." He says taking a step towards her, holding out his hand, she takes it and he pulls her close, hugging her body and she shakes sobbing into his shoulder. This is weird I feel like I shouldn't be in here, I feel like I'm intruding on something way too personal. He rubs circles on her back as she sobs and you can see the tears that he's been fighting the whole time he's been talking to her, they roll down his face, enhancing his beautiful cheekbones, so this is what happens when you lose a team member. It's so sad.
The pain they feel is written all over their faces as we walk out the hotel and make our way into the town. We inform the other's of the situation over the com links.
We all decide to meet at the clock tower as planned. We were dragging a slightly lushy Blair with us, from the smell of her she'd obviously had a few things from the mini bar, Robin settled her tab, as Kent kept her vaguely upright, as we begin the four mile walk into town.
At some point Kent started carrying Blair and somehow Olive got me to carry her scrawny ass around, Damien looked at us disapprovingly, but didn't say anything, not like we'd listen though.
We're waiting by the large over the top clock tower when we hear a scream come from an estern direction, It's Milagro's group, they need help bviously.
"Stay here." Robin says to Kent who still has his arms wrapped around my cousin. "Olive come with me, Lian stay with Kent and Blair." He orders, as he and Olive disappear into the shadows, melting into the darkness.
Robin and Olive ahd been gone for about five minutes and I was so bored, Kent wasn't exactly talkative, although who could blame him, I mean he just had a conversation with one of his best friends who's quite possibly lost a few of the nuts and bolts in her brain, his girlfriend died and is possibly alive, and another one of his best friends is missing presumed deceased Blair looks up suddenly, it's so quick I'm surprised she hasn't got whiplash.
"Amara." She mutters before running off into the darkness, before Kent or I could react.
"(God damn serum Q)" Kent curses as he sprints after her, he's surprisingly fast for someone so bulky, he's built like a quarter back.
Blair's POV
I knew what they thought, I'm crazy. Poor little Blair's finally snapped, I played along, after all Amara's coming and goings have been happening since I first woke up from my gunshot wound. They'll stick me in therapy and it'll get chalked up to PTSD or some other thing like that, it'll be called a hallucination or a psychotic break, whatever they want to call it, it's not true. Not one bit.
I chase after her, Her long hair falling like silk over her shoulders, tempting me to follow her, she's got her all too familiar I dare you smile on, she's the reason I am who I am today, she told me where I could find brutality. I follow her as she leaps gracefully across the rooftops, I follow like a bounding retriever leaping after the neighbourhood cat. I don't care about grace, just keeping up with her, maybe if I keep up, I can get some answers.
I will get my answers no matter what.
She finally stops on a rooftop, she's not going to challenge me to a fight is she because she was never a good fighter, she's a good spy, anything undercover/covert/vaguely detectivy was her forte. It was never combat, she had the brains just not very much brawn.
"can you tell me whats going on?" I demand
"Oh I'll tell you what's going on."
"Thank God." I say finally some answers.
"We're going to destroy Adornovica." She says with a cruel smile. "And we need you to do it."
Suddenly a fog covers the rooftop, blanketing the grey stone of the building. I hold my breath and start to run, but I can't tell up from down, and I've not eaten in a while so I can't use my speed. Hands grab me from behind, and I'm pulled sideways. My brain feels foggy like I've had a few too many, and my head feels too heavy for my body, black spots dance across my eyes and as they get larger the world fades to darkness and I feel my body fall.
SO Cliffhanger who else think's poor old Blair need a break. Anyway as per usual point out any mistakes Review, favourite, follow, whatever. Feel free to vote on what story I should do after this, check out my young justice AU Justice in the city that never sleeps. Anyway Ducks night xoxox I own nothing DC or Warner bros own I do own Adornovica and all of it's residents, I don't own Austanburg as that's a real place in the DC universe.
