Blair's POV

The room I woke up in was dark, damp, and worst of all designed like dungeon, yay, I move forward to analyse my surroundings, and I'm pulled back to the wall by a chain that looks like a wire of blue lightning, it hurts like lightning too, a shock runs through my body making me gasp involuntarily.

"(Hurts like a mother doesn't it.) A voice from the shadow says.

"Nik?"

"(hey beautiful. I figured it was you when they opened that door, they're doing this to mess with us, we haven't seen each other in months and now we're so close but if we move we fry.)"

I could feel my eyes burning, the tears of relief and anger were flowing, okay yes our situation was crappy but at least he was alive was the relief, but seriously he hasn't seen me in month and we all thought he was dead, I think that warrants more than an untrue hey beautiful.

"(firstly, right now I'm probably the furthest thing from attractive and secondly Hey beautiful? That's all you have to say, we haven't seen each other in months and all you can say? Niklaus Ferdinand Ganix, I thought you were dead, do you have any idea how much pain seeing the word missing stamped on your folder caused me? How over the last week I haven't slept, showered or eaten because I was driving myself mad trying to find you.)"

He starts chuckling, "(I've missed you. do you know however many times I've envisioned seeing you again and what you would say to me after you saw me again and you shouting at me wasn't one of them, although it should have been the top one seeing as its your coping mechanisms.)"

"(God, do you know how badly I want to kiss you then strangle you for taking this mission without me?)"

"(I'm going to guess by your tone you want to a lot.)"

"(When we get out of this I'm going to-)"

"Let's keep it PG shall we?" a new voice comes in as the door scrapes open.

"Amara?" Nik asks

"(You're seeing her too?)"

"(I thought I was just going insane, I started seeing her when I you nearly died, I went to the bathroom and she just started talking to me, I thought it was the combination of no sleep and tiredness.)"

"(I've seen her a lot. It started after I nearly died it was just a side effect I never saw her on watch tower, just when I was somewhere they knew I'd be, that's right isn't it, you were too scared to go up on watch tower because you knew a justice leaguer would sense you, but you planned all of this. All of this down to the last moment. Why?)"

"(Because silly, we want Adornovica to end, no more, it's too powerful, it's in control of the world, without Adornovica the worlds trade would crumble, prices would skyrocket because Adornovica just gives everything away freely, the world would lose some of its most advanced science experiments and research, we want to set fire to the country and watch the walls of the palace burn down, everything would fall.)"

"(What happened to you Amara? Because clearly you aren't dead like we all thought.)

"(I was and then I wasn't.)"

"(That all we going to get.)"

"(You want the full story? Fine. When you all left me to die in that building, I was pulled out by a member of the league, I was pulled out from certain death by a stranger who I'd always been told was evil, he didn't have to save me, my own team, my own family they didn't save me, you left me to die. The demon himself saw potential in me and let me bathe in the pit to heal my burns." She snarls, "I didn't want to go back to that, so I joined the shadows, and went headfirst into the darkness, where I rose and devised a plan, a plan to destroy those who left me to die.)" She screams into my face, her breath hot and damp against my skin.

I let out a shaky breath.

"(Do you know what it's like to feel your flesh reform on your skin, as it grows back every second, every follicle? The rage you feel coursing through your veins like a fire, I want Adornovica to feel how much the dancing flames burn as the lick your skin, even if you got out now, you'd never make it back in time, we're everywhere on the inside, on the outside, just waiting in the shadows.)"

"(Why go to the lengths of making me think I was going insane?)"

"(Oh that? Right, well I'd been in your mind the most, it was familiar, entering your mind and the team's was a cake walk, sometimes I'd be there with you, others I wasn't. I have to say making you think you were going insane was the most fun I've had in a long time.)"

"(You psychotic bitch.)" Nik shout, leaping forward forgetting about the chains as they pulled him backwards crackling and lighting up the room like a Christmas tree.

"(Nik!)" I scream.

"(I was going to leave you food, but I don't think he'll be hungry until he wakes up.)"

"(I hate you. We mourned you, we lost a part of all of us, Kent nearly died from the heartbreak of losing you.)" I call after her as she turns to the door

"(He was the worst out of all of you, claiming to love me more than life itself, he's the biggest liar of all of you. He said forever, he said that he'd always save me. He made promises and he didn't keep them, all Adornovican's think they're so good because the country is perfect, when in reality it's full of liars who break promises.)"

"(No, no it's not, Kent tried to save you that night, and for weeks after he'd go into the simulation room and try to figure out how to save you, he's been working on his speed because he knows that no matter what he will never be fast enough to save you but it doesn't mean he won't try his best and he tries to make up for that every day. You don't get to insult the one person on this earth who would probably still love you even though you're a heartless bitch now, he'd still die for you.)"

She glares at me storming back to slap me around the face, it's a hard impact and my face burns, I don't care though, I got to her.

"(He's going to die anyway.)" she hisses before sauntering out of the cell.

"(Nik, You okay?)"

He groans from across the room, "(peachy.)

"(good now we gotta get out of here.)"

Artemis's POV

The team had arrived back at watchtower with three Adornovicans in tow, apparently they'd found Blair, who'd been with them until she ran off.

"So Arty, you want the good news, the bad news or the really bad news?"

"Don't call me Arty, just tell me how you lost her then found her."

"Right I'll start with the good news, she's alive, or at least she was when we last saw her, the bad news is she ran away and the really bad news is she's having hallucinations of her dead teammate and is most likely in the middle of a mental breakdown."

"SO you're telling me my daughter is missing and she's losing her mind. Fantastic." I say dryly, dear god I am losing the will to live.

"Why don't you go check the footage from the buildings surrounding where you lost Blair okay?" the team look greatful for Wally's save

I take a deep breath as Wally rubs my neck, ohhh that feels nice. An involuntary moan escapes my lips, making him chuckle as her moves his finger in a circular motion on a particularly large knot.

"Better?" he asks after a few minutes.

"No, our daughter's losing her mind." And it's all our fault, I silently add, if we hadn't have been so preoccupied with each other we may have noticed our daughter slowly going insane.

"Or someone's playing with it." Wally suggests rubbing his hands over my upper arms reassuringly.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm just saying, that thing with the coma a few weeks ago M'gann felt an exterior presence in their minds, and she doesn't seem like the kind of person to easily have a breakdown, she's the kind of person who drinks a few shots then slowly starts to heal. You and I both know there are some really sick, powerful people out there, and a lot of them Blair seems to have thwarted in some way or another at some point."

"Are you saying what I think you're saying?"

"That someone could be playing with our daughters mind, and that we may not have noticed yes, that's exactly what I'm saying."

"How didn't we notice that? Are we really that bad at being parents?" I ask. It's our fault. My fault, Wally can't really take much blame B didn't really respect him as a parent. Wally didn't raise her. How am I supposed to deal with this I mean it's not like there's a chapter on what to do when your super powered teen loses their mind, but don't worry they could be under mind control.

"No, because something like that would be quiet, if she was losing her mind in a natural way, there would have been more signs, with the amount of people on this ship someone would've noticed." Wally tells me soothingly.

"Your right. I just need to stop blaming myself."

"Well you could blame yourself, it just probably wouldn't be correct or likely that it's your fault." He jokes.

"What do we do now?"

"We go find our daughter. Search for psychic energy waves grab one of the Adornovicans see if they have a mental link to the person in control of Blair's mind, they were all attacked by the coma thing, maybe there's some residual energy that J'onn or M'gann could trace?"

We find Milagro and Robin at the main console, "Hey, where is everyone?"

"Training room, it was inefficient to have all of us crowding around here distracting each other from the work at hand." Robin says not removing his eyes from the screen. Talkative guy. Not.

"Oh crap." I say

"What?"

"Are the fighting the Adornovicans?"

"Yeah I think so, why?"

"Wally run there now."

"Alright beautiful." He says as he scoops me up and takes me with him.

We get there just in time to see Kate throw Don in the air and watch him fall and hit the ground, ouch, sparring on league terms is done with no dirty tricks, Adornovicans use every trick they can to their advantage, they are the epitome of graceful brutality it's their fighting style and its admired worldwide.

"you have a plan, don't you?"

"Yeah. We do."
