Chapter 20! WOOT! Sorry for the delay, I was too lazy to write another chapter. Anyways, let's begin!

(Meanwhile, STILL in the past)

~Cosmo's POV~

"Hmm... I'm getting board here. I should visit my friends..." I said as I took out my green teleportation device. I pressed a button and I faded into thin air in seconds. When I'm a solid Seedrian again, I found myself smelling the familiar, fresh air of Mobius. I smiled as I thought what fun we could have later. I walked around, only surprised to find that nobody was on the streets. Weird. Everybody usually ran around like kids here! What happened?

I strolled over to Tails' house, hoping for an answer. But to my surprise, it was empty.

"No way!" I frowned. "Is this some kind of lame joke?"

I walked to the lab, hoping to find Tails there, since he's always working in it, but I found that it's empty. I walked over to Sonic's house, but Sonic was nowhere to be seen. Did he go for a run again?

I then walked to the house closest to Sonic's, and that's Amy's house. I hoped to find my best friend in it, but again, it was empty. I frowned as I looked over to the last house: Cream's house. I smiled as I hoped that at least Vanilla was there. I ran to Cream's house and knocked on the door.

"Knock... Knock..."

The door swung open as a tall, gorgeous cream-coloured rabbit stood in front of me. She smiled as she began,

"Oh, hello there Miss Cosmo! Are you looking for Cream? Unfortunately, she isn't home." She smiled.

What?! Everybody's gone?! What happened?

I frowned as I asked her, "But everyone here is gone! What happened?"

"Oh, didn't Cream tell you? She said that they were going to look for Mr Tails because he's gone mysteriously. They wanted to look for him to make sure he is safe." Vanilla said, her expression turning into a frown.

"WHAT?! THEY LEFT WITHOUT EVEN TELLING ME?!" I screamed in my thoughts.

"O-oh, alright. Thank you ma'am." I managed to force a smile.

"Alright, goodbye Miss Cosmo." She said as she closed the door.

Argh! How could they just leave like that? Unbelievable!

I marched down the road to Station Square, hoping to find a coffee shop to rest at. I really need to gather my thoughts and calm down. I finally found a coffee shop called Moonrings (Sonic style Starbucks) And ordered a Mocha.

I sipped on my drink as I suddenly caught a glimpse of a blur of blue, pink, red and cream outside of the window. Are those... Sonic and his friends? Curious, I took my drink with me as I walked out of Moonrings. I saw those streaks of colours zip through Station Square. It seemed that they were looking for something. Is the thing they're looking for Tails?

I quickly followed them as they zoomed through the city. However, I wasn't fast enough to catch up with them. They were gone in a second. Where did they go?

I quickly finished my drink and threw it away. It seemed that they headed towards the train station. I ran to the station immediately, hoping to find them there. However, I was too late. I saw the train was heading to Mystic Ruins. I bought a ticket for Mystic Ruins and got on the train.

"Hmm. Where in Mobius could they be now? Mystic Ruins is such a big place!" I thought to myself.

The train stopped at Mystic Ruins and I got off the train immediately. Once there, I looked around, hoping to find them somewhere. I searched and searched until I found a familiar rabbit on the ground, running with her head turning in different directions with her blue chao, Cheese. Aha! I have found one of the Search Team's members! Proud, I floated down gorgeously from the train station. Once on the ground, I immediately started to run after Cream.

However, she spread her ears and flew into the sky. Oh, bless my GREAT luck!

"CREAM! CREAM!" I called out to her. However, she can't hear me. She flew over to the mine cart and entered it. Oh, great.

I ran after her, trying to get another mine cart. Luckily, there was another mine cart. I climbed into the cart and it started to move into the tunnel. The cart stopped in front of a jungle. I saw Cream flying in the sky. She looked at the ground, trying to find a certain yellow kitsune.

"CREAM! CAN YOU HEAR ME?!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. She seemed to take notice of me as she turned around.

"Oh, my! I didn't expect to see you here, Miss Cosmo!" She smiled as she fluttered to me, with her pet Cheese by her side. "What are you doing here anyway?" She asked me sweetly.

"Oh, I was trying to find you guys, but I found that nobody was there, so I wanted to go to Moonrings to have a Mocha. Then, I saw you people rushing by the window, so I followed you here."

"Oh, yes! I'm sorry Miss Cosmo, I forgot to tell you that we're on a search team for Tails! Would you like to join us, Miss Cosmo?"

"Yes! I'd love to! The more people, the better it gets!" I smiled.

"Thank you, Miss Cosmo! Now I just have to inform our leader, Sonic, and you're an official member of our Search Team!" She said as she pulled out her yellow walkie talkie out of her vermillion dress. "Yes! Hello, Mister Sonic? It's me, Cream! Miss Cosmo wants to join our search team, would you please let her join?"... "Yes? Alright! Thank you Mister Sonic!"

She put away her walkie talkie and smiled at me. "Congratulations, Miss Cosmo! You are now an official member of Search For Tails team! But first things first, do you have a walkie talkie?"

"Yes!" I replied as I pulled out my lime-green walkie talkie.

"Good! Now, I'll look in sky while you look in the forest. Is that alright with you, Miss Cosmo?"

"It's fine. Now, let's begin our search in the Mystic Ruins!"

"Yeah!" We cheered as we raised our fists in the air. I climbed the ladder down to the forest and looked around. The forest is just like a maze! I walked down different paths that twisted and turned. I looked up as I spotted a big tree.

"Alright, this is my checkpoint here..." I murmured to myself as I kept walking. After a few minutes, I looked up and spotted the same big tree again.

"Didn't I just cross my checkpoint just now?" I wondered out loud. I kept walking, hoping it was just an illusion. After a few minutes, I looked up again and spotted the same big tree. It took me I few moments to realize that I'm lost.

"Oh, no. I'm lost. What should I do? Should I call Cream now? No, maybe she's finding something else..." I said as I walked the direction that's opposite of the direction that I'm walking.

"Maybe this will help..." I said as I kept walking. After what felt like hours, I finally stopped as I spotted something shining in the mud. I walked closer to inspect it.

It had a strong, purple glare coming out of it. Is that... Is that an amethyst? I slowly approached it, afraid that it will be a trap. What idiot would leave an amethyst here anyway? Gathering all my courage, I slowly picked it up and wiped the dust and mud off it. Once it was clean, it shone so brightly that it almost blinded me. I quickly covered my eyes, just in case it really does blind me. Once I feel that the strong glare is over, I peeked through my hands to make sure it wasn't shining so brightly anymore. I removed my hands from my eyes and I saw a pretty, shining amethyst hovering just an inch above the ground. I picked it up and immediately knew what it was.

A purple Chaos Emerald.
