Matthew Murdock paced back and forth outside courtroom waiting for his client to finally arrive. A kind gentlemen asked if he needed any help find a courtroom but Matt kindly refused. Matt had been able to play the disability card to buy Peter a few minutes to get here but now Matt was walking around with a coffee stained shirt.
When Peter finally arrived Matthew couldn't help but notice the smell of fresh blood. As per Peters request Tony and Steve were not present in the courtroom. "So did you forget out a way to get me out of this mess?" Peter asked nervously.
Matthew hesitated a bit, he had found evidence that the owner of the building was near bankruptcy and the insurance claim on the building was exactly what he needed. The only thing he needed to explain was why a teenage boy would run into a burning building. The answer was simple Peter didn't run into the building he swung into the building. "Sort of, but it's going to take a huge risk. You have to tell the truth... the whole truth."
Peter didn't quite understand what Matt meant by the whole truth, "I've been telling the truth." He insisted,
Matthew grinned and whispered "I mean the whole truth Spiderman. "
How? Peter thought he'd been so careful. "What are you talking about? I'm not Spiderman. That's impossible."
Impossible? Matt could hear Peter's heart rapidly beating a clear indication that the kid was lying. " As impossible as a blind man being Daredevil?"
The two stood there silent for a few seconds till Peter let out a heavy sigh. "Ok devil man let's go do this."
The courtroom was filled with people and despite promising Peter that they would not show up Steve and Tony snuck into the back of the room in the last minutes before they closed the room.
Matthew was happy they had showed up. Their presence would definitely help his opening statement.
"Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury. The prosecution will tell you that this is an arson case and that Mr. Parker is a juvenile delinquent who failed the system. However that is not the case. This is case is about a boy raised by Heroes and about an act of heroism. If Ironman, Captain America, Thor,...Daredevil...or even Spider-Man had been the individual spotted by cops at this burning building we'd be hailing them a hero and thanking him for his act of heroism. We wouldn't question his attentions or assume he'd started the fire. We'd accept him as a hero and that is what Peter is a Hero.
Peter stood up his knees shaking. He looked into the crowd and spotted his parents. " I am Spiderman." He said as he opened his shirt to reveal spider emblem from his costume.
