Epilogue: The Future's Wide Open

"I'll take Aaron to get dressed and see if Drew needs anything," Johnny says when we arrive at the hall for Drew and Bianca's wedding.

It's been two and half years since Drew found out he was going to be a father. He, Adam and Bianca spent the summer driving down every weekend to see Aaron. Adam is going to Fordham and his parents got him an off campus apartment with two bedrooms. Drew took a year off of school and lived with his brother, they took Aaron every weekend and Drew would come to our place to watch Aaron during the day while I was at school. Bianca transferred to Fordham to be with Drew and up until a few weeks ago they lived with Adam. But a studio opened up in the same building and Adam moved into the studio so that Drew and Bianca have the two bedroom. Something that was only possible because the Torres parents and grandparents helped financially. Drew got a part -time job and is going to Bronx Community College part-time taking child development classes. Just after they moved into their new apartment and a few days after Aaron's first birthday Bianca proposed to Drew and today they are getting married.

"See you in a bit," I smile kissing Johnny and then giving Aaron a kiss on the cheek before handing him to Johnny.

"No, stay Mommy," Aaron whines clinging to me.

"You can see Mommy in a bit I'm going to take you to Daddy and Uncle Adam," Johnny tells him.

"Daddy!" Aaron claps and jumps into Johnny's arms. They go into the men's dressing room and I go into the women's, Audra and Bianca are in here already.

"You look gorgeous," I smile when I see Bianca and hug her quickly.

"Thanks, I'm so glad you're here," she grins back.

Audra is fastening the back of Bianca's dress but stops briefly to hug me. Adam will of course be Drew's Best Man but Bianca didn't have any close female relatives or really any friends she wanted to stand with her. She and I have become rather close over the last couple of years and when she asked me to be her Maid of Honor I readily accepted and was happy to do it.

I get my dress which is a light blue, halter dress and I put it on. Before getting my heels on I do my hair and makeup. Omar knocks on the door to say that they are ready to begin the ceremony. Audra kisses Bianca's cheek before leaving the dressing room and we go out to the hall. Drew grins so wide when he sees Bianca that it makes me giggle. The two of them are giddily happy today and I take a second to appreciate how wonderfully well life has turned out for all of us. Drew and Bianca are happy and in love, Drew is a great father and he's been incredibly supportive. Bianca adores Aaron, she loves him dearly and he loves her. She's been amazing through this all, it could not have been easy for her to move her life to New York and be with Drew while we share a son. She's never complained or been anything but great to me and supportive of everything. Johnny and I are happy and in love, he's great with Aaron and he's wonderful to me and wonderful with Aaron who he loves like his own.

"Are you ready to do this?" Drew asks Bianca as the music begins.

"Very ready," she grins.

Adam and I each take one of Aaron's hands and walk with him down the aisle. Aaron is the Ring Bearer and he looks absolutely adorable in his little suit. We walk down the aisle and Adam takes Aaron to the Groom's side and I stand on the bride's side. Drew and Bianca walk down the aisle standing between us and the officiator begins.

The ceremony is lovely although Aaron gets bored and antsy and spends the time running between me, Drew, Adam, Johnny and Audra. He does bring the rings to Drew when he asks for them at least. After the ceremony we take pictures and then move into the conference room for the reception, since it's a pretty small wedding they didn't need a large ballroom for the reception. I hold Aaron while Drew and Bianca share their first dance as husband and wife.

"Daddy, Matoo," Aaron says wriggling out of my arms and running over to them. Aaron calls Bianca Matoo and Johnny Datoo which we think means Mama-Two because he called Drew and I Mama and Dada when he was very young.

"May I have this dance?" Johnny asks as Drew picks up Aaron to dance with him and Bianca.

I smile and take Johnny's hand and we go out to the dance floor. Aaron dances with Drew and Bianca for a moment and then wants to dance with us. When the song ends the four of us sit down to eat. Most of the guests are at small round tables however Drew, Bianca, Adam, Audra, Johnny, Aaron and I sit at a long rectangular table together. We begin eating and Aaron is picking through his food and then gets bored and decides to run around instead, the room is closed and everyone is watching him so I'm not worried. After dancing and cake and more dancing people make wedding speeches, Adam makes one and then Audra makes one and then Johnny stands up.

"Drew and Bianca I wish for you many happy and prosperous years together. The last two and half years have been a wild ride but they've made us close friends and I am honored to call you both friends. Today was a beautiful symbol for your love and I am honored to be here and share this day with you. I am also honored to have the love of this beautiful woman," Johnny says looking at me. "Clare Diana Edwards I am extremely in love with you and I fall more in love with you each day and you know how much I love Aaron. Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" Johnny asks getting down on his knee.

"Yes," I squeal throwing my arms around him and capturing his lips for a passionate kiss.

Everyone cheers and Aaron runs over to hug us, he doesn't know what's going on but he's happy because everyone else is happy. Aaron sits on my lap as Johnny sits down again and we share another kiss.

"Looks like we have another wedding to plan," Adam smiles.

"Yeah but I'm still not getting married until after I graduate so we have a year and a half at least," I reply.

"Good lots of time to plan and save so I can give you the wedding of your dreams," Johnny grins putting his arm around me and I smile.

Drew and Bianca go out to the dance floor again and I begin to picture my wedding with Johnny. I'm very happy with my life and I have so much to look forward to in the future. I'm grateful for all of it and for everyone in my life, it all could have turned out very differently if not for Johnny and if Drew had reacted differently. I don't think I'd be here in this moment at Drew and Bianca's wedding and newly engaged if I'd never moved in with Johnny, hard to believe it's been almost three years now.

"Aaron why don't you go sit with Uncle Adam so I can dance with Mommy," Johnny says to him.

"Tay," Aaron replies with a smile giving me a small kiss before Adam takes him.

Johnny takes my hand and we go out to the dance floor, our arms around each other as we sway to the slow song.

"I love you," Johnny whispers as we dance.

"I love you," I whisper back, "always."
