Chapter 8

Andy returned to Miranda's room and stalled when she saw the door open and heard loud voices coming from within.

"...Mrs Priestly, can you hear me? She is breathing Dr Davis and her pulse is fine too, so no heart attack." A nurse stated.

Andy turned white and almost dropped everything. She hurried into the room and saw them pulling Miranda up and onto the bed.

"Oh my God! What happened?" Andy instantly started crying, the memories from finding Miranda in the office flashed through her mind.

"She is fine, I just checked her vitals and we will run an EKG to make sure. She overdid it by getting up so frequently after surgery and she should really get some rest. I heard she just ate solid food for the first time in two days, she is just weak." Dr Davis explained. Miranda's eyes fluttered open. She was back hooked up in the monitor, looking all sick and weak again. "Look who's back with us. Hello, Mrs Prieslty, I am Dr Davis." The doctor told her gently.

Miranda looked confused at all the nurses and a crying Andrea. "Good lord, what happened?" Miranda asked.

"You fainted, and we briefly thought could be something serious, but everything is fine. We will run an EKG shortly and do some blood tests again to make sure you are okay, but we believe the weakness is due to low blood sugar and the fact that you are still not a hundred per cent recovered."

"Oh!" Miranda exclaimed. She looked at the teary brunette. "Andrea, darling, come here." She patted the bed beside her. "I promise, everything is okay," Miranda said glancing at her as she stood hesitantly with food and the two coffees clutched in her hands.

Andy couldn't move, she simply stood there while the tears ran down her face.

A nurse guided Andy to the chair next to Miranda and set the food and coffee next to them on the nightstand. "Please, Miss, sit down. We don't need you fainting too." The nurse said kindly.

"Okay, I will organise the EKG and everything else, and you, Mrs Priestly, will rest. No more getting up alone, for today at least. Call the nurse, they will take you to the bathroom, otherwise, I want you in that bed."

They all left the room and Miranda looked worriedly at Andy who still hadn't said a word yet. "Hand." She whispered over to Andy and she obeyed. "Please, Darling, talk to me. I am sorry I scared you."

Andy took a deep breath. "It's okay, I just...I saw you there and you looked so weak and small and it reminded me off..."

Andy didn't need to finish the sentence as Miranda already knew. She felt really sorry for Andy. "Look, I don't want to scare the girls, so please, let us not talk about it in front of them." Miranda requested.

"Sure, I am just glad you are okay. God, I can't leave you alone for even five minutes." Andy said, finally getting some colour back in her cheeks, and smiling a bit.

"There's my Andrea. You scared me there for a second, but I agree it was all a bit much. How about you go home for a couple of hours and get some sleep while the girls are here?" Miranda suggested.

Andy looked confused. "You want me to leave?" She asked tearing up again.

"No, but I want you to rest a little so you can stay the night with me," Miranda said, said squeezing Andy's hand. "Also, I want to prepare the girls about uh...us, you know?"

Andy's eyes widened. "Already? Wow, Miranda, that means a great deal. Okay, maybe you're right. I could use some shut eye and so could you."

"Before you go I need something from you?" Miranda said smirking at her.

Andy knew exactly what she was talking about, so she stood up and leaned over hovering over her lips. "And what would that be?" She asked licking the editor's bottom lip.

"Don't tease me, darling, kiss me," Miranda whispered against her lips.

Andy obeyed gladly. The kiss was sweet and sensual, full of love. Pulling back slightly Andy grinned at the dazed look on Miranda's face. "Okay, babe. I'll leave now and I'll be back around 6ish?"

"6 o'clock sharp Andrea. I won't wait any longer for another kiss." Miranda said, with a glare which turned into a smirk at Andy, who giggled on her way out.

Andy left for home eating the sandwich she got from the hospital cafeteria. When she arrived she went straight to bed and set her alarm clock for 5.15pm. She fell asleep almost instantly.

Miranda also fell asleep after Andy left. She woke up to the sound of whispering.

"...no we shouldn't wake her up, she needs to rest, Caroline." Cassidy's loud whisper had her lips twitching.

"Yeah, but we should tell her about the A's we got on our math test," Caroline stated hotly.

They were discussing things so intensely that they didn't notice that their mom had woke up.

"I am very proud of you girls and you can always wake me, Hi, Bobbsey's, I've missed you," Miranda said smiling at two wide-eyed girls.

"Don't scare us like that mom. We've missed you too. Can you come home soon?" Cassidy asked with some sadness in her eyes.

"I will be home soon, Bobbsey. Don't worry mommy will be fine." Miranda assured her.

"Where's Andy? We wanted to thank her for being there for us." Caroline asked.

"She went home to rest a bit, she will be back to stay with me tonight." Miranda smiled.

"Oh wow, are you like best friends now?" Cassidy asked with a smirk.

Miranda blushed. 'It's now or never.' She thought "Actually, we are more than just friends."

"What do you mean mom, are like dating her?" Caroline asked confused.

"Yes, we want to start a relationship. Perhaps go out, get to know each other and spent time together as a family. Is that alright with you?" Miranda queried nervously.

"Wow! That's so cool, mom." Cassidy smiled for a second but Miranda could see the questions in her eyes. "How come you like women now?"

"Yeah, that's like way mainstream and all," Caroline said and giggled.

Miranda chuckled, loving her kids even more at that moment. "Well, I am glad you think it's cool. But I have feelings for her and so does she. We would like to see where it leads us."

"Mom, I only have one question, but know I really think it's cool," Cassidy asked.

"What is it Cassidy, you can ask me anything?" Miranda stated.

"So, uhm…do you love Andy?" Cassidy asked.

Miranda's eyes widened and she swallowed. Her kids were really growing up fast.

"Yeah mom, do you?" Caroline asked again since she hadn't answered yet.

"Yes, I do, I ...I love her with all my heart."
